Saw Dust Maker I can't wait till I can build my own shop... I think my wife also wants me to have a shop not attached to the house... something about noise and saw dust?!?
Mike Merzke When I retired and made plans for our retirement home, my wife said she was tired of the mess and noise in our garage and suggested(insisted) that I build a shop. I said "Yes dear" and built a 40x60 shop . Just trying to make her happy.....:-).
Marc Schaefermeyer. Were the pulleys provided in the upgrade kit able to mount to the nema 17 motors. I just purchased the upgrade kit for my shapeoko 2 to go to the X carve and no one ever mentioned me having to purchase the Nema 23 stepper motors.
Just wondering what you did for the Grbl shield and fan mount? is there a link somewhere to where I can get info to make / 3d print that? looks nicer then others ive seen.
Tek Adept I purchased that from Inventables shortly after getting my Shapeoko 2. I looked for it today on their website and couldn't find it. I'm sure you could contact them and get the file to have it 3D printed or they might have more information about it.
Don't you think they just tricked you into spending $200 again. Are you sure that you have a much more powerful machine now ? And you can be sure there will be X-Carve Mk II. upgrade for $200 also, then X-Carve Mk III. is coming soon. This is a never ending upgrade, and you'll spend many thousand dollars, the price of a professional CNC, but you will have still an amateur machine v12.2-beta3 at the end. Maybe the goal is not the machine itself but the building process ? I think they exploit your addicted heart. Not so nice.
telelaci2 Actually they sent me the upgrade kit for free and your facts are just a tad off on the other "X-Carve Mk III", which is actually the Shapeoko 3 which is designed and built by a different company. Even if they "exploited my addicted heart"... which is how my wife refers to me and my woodworking, I have a working CNC in my shop and am able to use it in my commissioned projects.
Mike Merzke Maybe they sent you one for free because they knew that you would make a video post of it. But they don't send it for free to the other addicted hearts. Pure marketing. Very similar to the white powder, maybe not so unhealty. You want to build something. Anything. That makes your mouth water. My point was : you spent $ 200 dollars, and your machine is actually the same, barely better than the old Shapeoko 2 one. Its similar to the Gillette safety razor. They invent a miracle breakthrough in every year. With one more blade or "better" grip or something. And the people usually buy it. They pay for the new product in every year. But its just the same, after all.
Your X-Carve upgrade video is brilliant. Clear and concise.
+megabodell Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it and I was able to relay the information in an effective way.
Nice upgrade Mike. Looks so cool

Slowvannah Farms Thanks!!!
nice video of the process very clear! I like the vacuum mount and the g-shield enclosure. Are those 3d printed?
Thanks! The vacuum dust shoe was 3D printed and I purchased the g-shield enclosure from inventables.

Friend in your Z-axis upgrade, could you tell me the size of the eccentric spacers? 5mm, 6mm or did you buy another size?
I am not sure of which eccentric spacers that were provided by Inventables. I know longer own that CNC. Thanks for watching!
Thanks.

Mike, where did you get the mounts for the Makita router?
I don't remember which website I purchased them from but I believe it was actually designed for the dewalt 660.
How do you like the one piece gantry? Nice video!
Thanks, I think it is a much better design. It is a big improvement over the 500 pieces the old one had.
