- Kai (Keanu Reeves) leads Yoshio Oishi (Hiroyuki Sanada) and the ronin to the Tengu Forest to retrieve the Tengu swords: mystical blades that will help them avenge Lord Asano (Min Tanaka). Aware of the twisted illusions his former master and the magical forest itself play on those who enter, Kai warns Oishi to resist the urge to draw his sword. While Kai attempts to defeat the Tengu Lord (Togo Igawa), Oishi must prove his willpower, even when he sees a vision of his men slaughtered.
Film Synopsis: Keanu Reeves stars in the action-adventure epic, 47 Ronin. After a treacherous warlord kills their master and banishes their kind, 47 leaderless samurai vow to seek vengeance and reclaim their honor. This band of ronin must seek help from Kai (Reeves)-an enslaved half-breed they once rejected-in their ultimate fight for redemption in a savage world of mythic and wondrous terrors. Kai becomes their most deadly weapon and the heroic inspiration for these outnumbered warriors to confront their enemy and seize eternity.

47 RONIN is one of my favorite samurai movies of all times. As matter of fact I still watch it everyday! I JUST LOVE 47 RONIN! Keanu Reeves and Hiroyuki Sanada are absolutely brilliant! The duel at Dutch Island... is magnificent! I love watching their swords fighting! 47 RONIN is underrated... should've gotten golden globe award!!!
It's actually a pretty good test. As far as he knew, his men disobeyed his direct order, and attacked the praying monks in their own temple. He would have had little right to defend his men under those circumstances.
plus it shows he has trusted kai, someone he belittled through the most part of the movie
Those aren't monks....
I love this movie, I am a huge lover /buff of Japan/Japanese culture & history/mythology/legends/superstition, etc etc.. big japan buff. I liked how they portrayed everything in this movie in a very interesting & more realistic way as you’d imagine it would have been back then if all these creatures & myths, superstitions, tales, etc all actually existed. The way they portrayed the Tengu👺 was super cool & interesting. They way the Kirin is portrayed is so good! The way the dragons are portrayed is super awesome & really cool how it’s the Japanese equivalent of a witch, being that the geisha girl’s long fabrics & Obi belts stretch out & then turn/morph into this long serpentine dragon (Ryuu), & it’s so cool & genius to show it that way.
The most beautiful movie that you can enjoy watching over and over again. I loved it
I remember watching this movie with my father years ago, I've always loved japanese culture , I can't recommend this movie enough. Amazing masterpiece ❤

A really great movie
47 Ronin is one of my favorite masterpieces! Keanu Reeves and Hiroyuki Sanada are awesome in this movie! I love it so much I watch it everyday! Japan is a land of supernatural and superstitions... as I am third generation Japanese American this movie, I can learn parts of Japan's culture! As my ancestors are of Samurai decsent... I'm learning their skills in martial arts and sword fighting skills. Keanu Reeves and Hiroyuki Sanada shows their expertise in this Japanese culture. Will be watching this 47 Ronin again and again... and more❤
