Very good and fun video! I have been wondering about suffixes etc what they mean and how they change a word and how to use them so this really helped to understand! It would be nice if you would continue do more of them.
I'm gonna be in Riga for the next 6 weeks and stumbled across your account searching for basic latvian greetings... And although I can only say good morning/day/evening and Thank you at the moment, and don't know any other words you're talking about... I had to watch more videos because of the lame humor that I enjoy! :)) hopefully I'll watch it in sequence and learn some Latvian as I might be moving here in a few months for work... Keep it up. You deserve more views.. If only more people wanted to learn Latvian language for some reason :P
Hello! I hope you’re gonna have a wonderful time in Riga and very glad you’re tuning in for some language learning. If there are specific questions or theme requests, let me know :)
Germane - there was one guy - Kumar- at the bottom of comments that was not positive, therefore I was compelled to let him know how the world really works!
Your one video brought to memore latvian content than other stuff on RUclips. I m trying to learn latvian for me fiance. With different results. Thanx for your videos
5:19 GRIEZT exists in a similar form in Serbian - GRISTI (earlier GRIZT(I)) - and it also means to cut, but with your teeth - in other words - to bite.
Some of those expressions sounded quite weird... I think, I haven't heard them... Or, at least out of context they seemed to be strange. But yeah, explanation of iz- was quite good. Thanks! I'll suggest this to some of my Latvian learning friends.
Brilliant... By the time this corona thing is over I am sure I will have watched every video a couple of times... I miss mums latvian sense of humor... Dad never had a sense of humor.. He claims mum stole if from him... Even without a sense of humor dad could be funny...
jajaja your videos are pretty sticky 😂haha and make me gettin' some inspiration to study latvian..i got a question for u ah Kāda valoda ir vislīdzīgākā latviešu valodai?
Bez nacionālas karantīnas mums būs lielas nepatikšanas. (Using the closed equivelent of “trouble” and more formal Latvian”) Bez nacionālas karantīnas mums klāsies pagalam švaki (adapted translation :))
Sorry if this sounds too stupid but how do you do if you want to say something like "to suck it out completely"? For example, emptying a tank or something via vacuum and making sure that everything is sucked OUT and COMPLETELY at the same time? Would you use extra words to describe the action in such cases?
Hey! Good question! You would say “izsūkt”. The same as with a beer 😅. And if you want extra extra precision. You can say “izsūkt + līdz pēdējam puteklītim” - to suck out until the last tiny speck of dust. And with beer again similar - “izsūkt + līdz pēdējai pilītei” - to suck out until the last drop The formula therefore would be “izsūkt + līdz pēdējam/ai + noun in diminutive and dative” Homework - what things can be sucked out completely? Kind regards, Irregular Latvian academy
@@irregularLatvian Yes! Izvārītajos. My gf said the same. We have an inside joke about this. My current mood is 'vārīts spilvens' Which I am mistakenly called, 'vārits spilvēk'.

Sveiki! pēc 10 gadiem dzīvojot Latvijā, man nekad nebūs skaidrs kāds prefikss ir jāizmanto un kādā situācijā, jo vispār visiem prefiksiem patīk "klejot" apkārt :) bet liels paldies par video, gadīšu citus par 15 pārējiem prefiksiem :D
@@irregularLatvian Well, we write phonetically, so sometimes "iz" changes to is, iš... depending on the sound after it, but it's very similar how we use it. And for 'izdot' we have 'izdati' ('dati' means to give) with a similar meaning (to issue, to publish, to betray...) Now I have to watch all of your videos and see what else is similar. 😁
Mr Kumasi, if you knew The Latvian language you would realize that the way she teaches and presents it is absolutely the best way to teach it. We get the pronunciations and the visuals which in the long run are critical to actually using it. Besides, there is nothing wrong with having some fun along the way!! I was taught Latvian in a regular classroom setting and I must confess, It could get quite boring and difficult to concentrate.
If you can't catch up try starting learning the alphabet or try some beginners latvian instead. I know it can be hard but I do not think that this specific lesson is for people who started just now. It took me a while to get here as well. Latvian is not the easiest language to be honest! Haha! I wish you luck and patience!
I love how you mix in things for beginners, intermediates and advanced without boring any of them!
I am SOOO HAPPY I found this channel!! Finally, an awesome channel to learn latvian!!
I hope you are still making these videos-such a fun way to learn Latvian ❤
Hello to one of my favorite Latvians. I was in Latvia 2 weeks ago and I loved your country. 🇱🇻👊🏻

As a croatian guy its funny because we literally have the same word with the same meaning and the same functions as a prefix.
Pienvedēja Piedzivojumi brought me here :D

Its so amazing that there are similarities with languages that are geographically so far! Thanks for sharing :)))
