When we talk about choice, it’s because there are countless women with similar stories to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s.
While appearing in Wisconsin this past weekend, the NY rep shared a deeply personal account of a time she was assaulted and had to consider her options in the event of an unwanted pregnancy.
The right to choose is not just another political issue or a moral position, it’s an essential, life-altering right that people need in this country. That self-determination is what is on the line this November.

This is so awful, and it happens every day to millions of women who are now the only ones who are dealing it's consequences!
and with Democrats coddling illegal aliens, like the thousands of murderers and rapists into the USA with open border and sanctuary policies, things are getting worse

Everyone deserves equal rights to their own bodies. A woman should not be forced to risk her life and health by putting her body through a pregnancy for the same reason a man should not be forced to donate an organ or marrow or even a tiny bit of blood to save a dying child.

I was assaulted by a family member when I was 10 years old. I had a hard time telling anyone about it because I felt like it was my fault for being naive. I was so humiliated. I kept it from my parents until they eventually found out on their own. It’d hard to come forth with it, cause you have to revisit the harrowing moment you lost a part of yourself. The last part when AOC says it’s hard to report.. let alone hard to open up to anyone.. I felt that deeply..
I’m so sorry that happened to you. It is absolutely gut wrenching imagining you at 10 years old, terrified and alone to deal with this. I’m genuinely in tears imagining it, so cannot even imagine how awful it must have been for you. Thank you for sharing that with us and what that must have meant for you. I’m behind you and all women fighting for access for healthcare.

There is no way for most to understand the amount of fear one goes through when dealing with this type of situation especially if you never experienced it and when you do, you never forget it. All the emotions AOC explained and then some hit you ten fold!! Very brave that you are using your experience to help others AOC!!! Respect !!!
The only two people who knew almost immediately after I got SAed was my partner and my mom (it was "just" being groped and kissed at my work place). I didn't tell my dad for thirteen years what had happened. I did two weeks ago and he was shocked that it had happened to me. Not that he wouldn't have understood or would have blamed me, I just didn't feel ready to tell anyone beyond my mom and my partner. So imagine going to have to tell someone you have never let before and having your experience written down in a protocol. I couldn't imagine that and I can consider myself lucky that I didn't have any horrid experiences afterwards (except for losing my job for "snitching" on my aggressor).
I was raped by my ex best friend’s husband I was treated as if it was my fault a issue I kept silent until I couldn’t anymore and all women should speak up

I've been following AOC for a really long time now and I would never say this woman had suffered an attack this horrendous at any point in her life because she speaks with so much conviction and integrity. The strength of character in certain people is incredible.

I am a great fan of AOC and really feel for her and the 100,000s of women who go through this.
I am a 71 y.o. man who was abused by 3 different men when I was 9- 11 y.o.
I could not tell anyone because I was threatened and it is only a few very close people that know about it today.

Sure that would be the right thing to do but it is not that simple. A lot of times they are threatened if they report it and call the police. Going through that very traumatic event takes time to process. Even when they call the police sometimes law enforcement does not take them seriously.

It says a lot that a whole political block will demonize her. This is a horrific experience that so many of us can relate to, yet someone will find a way to demonize her.
Yes. She’s very brave to put herself up for that kind of inevitable abuse from these horrific people. I know plenty of women who are hiding the fact that they will not be voting for Trump, due to bully husbands, bully religious leaders, etc. As the Republicans become more desperate each day leading up to the election, I hope more women will see who Republicans really are and remember that our votes are private!

After I first reported the pdf file who hurt me at 11 which is something that children don’t normally do…with everything that happened I learned to never talk about it again especially if they are rich because they could hurt and even unalive my loved ones. A friend of his almost unalived me and my mom and he almost got me at the clinic and thankfully the police and my family were there to stop him.
