I support several people on Patreon without any more expectation than 'let me help you keep doing what you already do'. I understand that can be hard for creators to accept, but I see as an opportunity to say 'thanks'.
Seconded. I don't care about extras for any of my Patreon subs, they're all "I want to pay you for the service you are already providing by making videos/comics/whatever it is they create"
Same! I don't even think to check what I'm supposed to get with Patreon (and I should, because some of those stuff are awesome). A 1$/£/€ with no rewards is my favorite option because of that XD
I am another who supports creators on Patreon just so they can keep on doing what they are doing. Plus I am a spoonie so I so know the vagrancy of chronic illines, energy and attempting to plan a day.
I love the stash busting videos, its inspired me to use stuff up and also donate. I managed to clear a bag out last night for my local knitting group . They will benefit massively and cut down my stash lol 🧶👌
I think I'm going to have a clear out & donate a bunch of mine too (& I also think my part balls & leftovers can go to our local infant school or Nursery)
Bernadette banner did a podcast where she talked a bit about the craft of video making in terms of costuming. She said something interesting about patreon in that loads of her patrons don’t use the benefits, they just like to support the content, and she wishes she’d not offered so many perks as it makes little difference and put a lot of pressure on her in the past. It might ease some of the anxiety around not being able to fulfil a ton of perks. Found the link ruclips.net/video/OfWlf81ljaU/видео.html I think it’s around 25 min mark
For Patreon, maybe a few photos here and there of what you're currently knitting/sewing/crocheting if you want to do some extra stuff, or a craft-along livestream whenever you think you're up to it? But for creators, I mostly tend to think of them as paid subscriptions to channels I like, so the videos you're already making would be the main thing we're paying for and anything extra would very much actually be extra
I'm looking forward to any new videos you make. For you Patreon you could release videos a day or more early for them. They get early access by a bit and you get support. If you want you can do polls there if you want to decide between 2 different patterns. Simple things that won't impact your health.
You shared your 2023 resolutions, and I will share mine: I resolved to start supporting my favorite RUclipsrs this year on Patreon. So, if you had a Patreon, I would immediately sign up for $5/month (or whatever in pounds). I don't really care about the perks--you're already giving me value, and I want to help you make ends meet, because I believe people should be able to do what they love for a living. I would be quite happy to get brief updates from you on Patreon, in between your videos. ❤️
Hi Claude, re Patreon content, I’d love to see anything that you enjoy creating. I agree with previous comments that said, we subscribe to you to just support you and say ‘thanks’. I’ll be a subscriber to your Patreon channel. Sending best wishes and healing vibes from Down Under 💖💐🌸🌺😎🇦🇺
I feel like a lot of creators overestimate the importance of Patreon rewards. It's tempting to think that you have to offer all sorts of additional benefits to supporters, but in my experience, 9 times out of 10, the motivation for supporting someone's Patreon is that you like the stuff they're already making, and you want to help them make more of it. I think the best Patreon rewards are things that require very little extra effort from you, things like a quick thanks or credit roll at the ends of videos or short little behind-the-scenes snapshots, but in terms of providing value to supporters, the main value will almost always be the main videos anyway, so stuff that takes your attention away from that can be counterproductive. Whenever I've tried that, I've found the majority of eligible patrons don't even want the thing, even though they've signed up to pay for it, so these days I just keep it as simple as possible.
I agree with Laura Williams and others that some viewers really do just want to support your work. Ideas for additional content that might not break the energy bank include early access to content, getting to vote on what projects get done and extended versions of already released videos for those interested in in depth perspectives on how a piece is made/researched. They’d take more work editing but you’d already have all the footage. I hope you go ahead with having a Patreon!
When it comes to Patreon, I love livestreams and behind the scenes type updates as they always feel a little more personal than the bigger polished videos, but also I primarily subscribe to people purely because I want to support them! With how helpful and comforting your videos have been, I'd be happy to subscribe for that alone ❤️
I’m not a knitter. I don’t really see but I am a quilter. And I love all types of textiles and the history of “women’s work” in general. So I would love to hear more about the history of knitting. Even if you don’t actually go to the museums and such just discussing them will be awesome.
“I need as much time as possible to get ready for the ball”. I am waiting for the time in my life when I get to utter such a wonderful phrase. For now, I shall live vicariously through you 😂❤
Just chiming in to say I would LOVE a series on historical/vintage knitting! I cannot get enough textile history in my life. I'd also be thrilled to support you on Patreon if you decide to go that way. It's a way for me to do my bit to make sure that creators I appreciate can keep doing their thing. I love the channel and your approach is really refreshing, so thank you for that.
I support people on patreon because I want to support the person/channel/content, not because I want extra things. There's actually quite a few costubers who burnt themselves out for their patreon and then realised it's not what most people sign up for. 😊
I'd support your patreon without any rewards. Buy you also have a huge vintage pattern collection. You could share some of those! Do a big batch scan and share over the course of months or years. If you felt so inclined, you could host a make along or we could do our own make alongs on the ravelry group!
Thank you for bringing Finish It February to our attention! I don't knit but I do have several sewing WIP's that definitely need finishing, February may be the perfect month for at least a few of those :D
If the Retro Claude Patron became a thing, lives like what you did for New Year could be awesome. Also, that is the perfect place for the vintage and historical stuff if you are worried about it not being accepted on RUclips. Personally, I would LOVE to see those things here as well. I think your goals sound awesome. Looking forward to following the journey. :)
Given how much needs to get made between now and the PA Ball, don't be afraid to buy some of your undergarments. A corset from Red Threaded or similar might cost a few dollars, but it will save you so much in time, effort, and energy. By spending a whole lot of weeks on a corset, you are risking health and burnout, and by extension risking now having a completed outfit by the time the ball comes around. It may also be worth speaking to some of your fellow CosTubers, or other historical costumers you know in real life, and seeing if anyone has any basic undergarments like petticoats that you might be able to borrow for the weekend long event. This would also save you time and money, leaving you more able to put both in to the outer gowns. Best of luck in reaching your goals!
I support several creators on Patreon, numbers change as my interests and finances... One of the things I like as a Patron are little snippets of personal info - nothing major, just the kind of thing you might share over a cuppa with a bunch of people you know a bit. For instance - expanding on what brought you into vintage making? Expand on how you manage with a chronic illness? How many pets you have (or not) and how cute they are (or not) - that kind of thing. Just chat.. and we all knit/crochet/sew while we chat.
I would support you on Patreon regardless of anything extra. One suggestion is to make your videos, when you do get to them, early access for Patrons if YOU feel the need for something extra.
Maybe with the Patreon you could do a sort of virtual craft circle where there's a pattern a month (or given the health limitations of both you and some of your followers, every three months so seasonal?) and the pattern is the 'bonus' for subscribing and there is a knit along/craft along?
Maybe a podcast, something more low pressure than videos and with more everyday content that you feel doesn't distract from what you already have set aside for public videos? I suck at talking while knitting, but it could be something you do while doing that, either with video or audio only! For example, you could talk about a knitting history book you're reading or do a Q&A about your favorite materials.
My condition means I don't know how I am from one day to the next.My head wants to create or do things but my body let's me down and it's frustrating. You just have to learn to accept it and be glad of good days so I understand how you feel.I am not able to support you on Patreon but if I was I would say don't worry about anything other than what your able to do.Patreon is a way of supporting people you value.I love your plans and whatever you produce I will love,
Thank you I love seeing what you are making and the stash busting inspired me to try and reduce my huge stash not very successfully at the moment but this year I plan to reduce more. I mainly crochet, I can knit and sew and would like to get back into both this year but crochet is my passion, plus I don’t want to feel overwhelmed.
I think that knit along livestreams is a perfect patreon reward that is low effort for you and fun and motivating for us ❤ I’m quite new here but I love your stash busting videos! Can’t wait for February’s one
I’d support whatever you do, because watching your videos is always a wonderful experience! I’d love to see vintage knitting, maybe with an informal/chatty slant to them. Whatever you want to give, I’d support on Patreon.
Knit and natter type streams would probably work well on patreon. I watch a lot of booktube and over the pandemic reading on stream together became surprisingly popular. If chatting for a whole stream sounds too intense you can talk for 15/20 minutes then set a timer for the rest of the hour, everyone gets on with their business separately (knitting, chores, whatever) then come back and share progress, chat a bit more and maybe repeat the process (if you want to do longer streams).
Claude. Claude I'd LOVE IT if you tackled the topic of historical knitting!! Especially the theory bits? I'm not talking about you having to knit anything extra but you talking us through some interesting knitting facts throughout time would be AWESOME.
I enjoy more personal content/interaction w creators on Patreon. Lives would be cool, voting/input privileges, and I’m obsessed with the patterns you’ve shared! Would definitely enjoy following along on a project!!!
I love the stash busting videos and look forward to your witchy costume content. One of my most common RUclips searches is "Roxanne Richardson (knitting technique)"! Very glad you plan on participating in Finish It February too ☺️
I'd be extremely happy to support you on patreon even if there wasn't any bonus content. A lot of the people I support, I view it more as more like those things where you "adopt" a tiger or penguin or whatever than as a transactional interaction. If you were to give us special content, I'd love videos like what you did for vlogmas, or maybe some sort of livestream or zoom group thing where we all got to craft together.
I like the idea of an old fashion, "knitting circle" via Zoom, just to hang out and knit and drink coffee/tea/cola of choice. A choice of camera on or off and we can chat about what we are working on or need help with.
We are a neurodiverse family and my one boy has dyspraxia and apraxia (which I suppose you can call a physical disability?), anyway: people don’t see our real struggles with our disabilities. Oh it cant be that bad, pffft, we never see any of these things you gripe about. So - I would love to see more (obviously it’s a very personal thing), of living with a disability. I watched the video where you explained how you work around certain aspects like sitting down to iron and using spring loaded scissors and so on. I feel that no matter the difficulty someone lives with, we can always take something and learn from others and apply it to make our lives better.
Whatever it is that you do, it's great to watch and listen to. I enjoy your channel immensely! As for Patreon, what might be cool is a super relaxed knit along or sew along with some smaller projects, or like a knitting group livestream? Or something as simple as a podcast update just taking through projects and life. You are making a living making art (the best type of living). I'm here for whatever 💗
I love patreon. My idea would be behind the scenes of how you pick or find patterns to knit and or sew (on line, etsy, ebay, charity shops, antique stores). Also, extended (perhaps unedited) videos of you working on projects. I agree with another commentor. I subscribe to creators on patreon as a way of supporting her (or his) content. Lastly, it's because of you that I've picked up knitting and I love it. I hate to admitt, I used to skip your knitting videos, then I stop to watch one, I then binged all of them! Now I look forward to all your videos, whether knitting or sewing. Cheers 🥂 to you and your health through the new year
That's allot of projects! I would definitely support a Patreon channel I support other makers like Fruity Knitting that only post once a month. Maybe instead of editing so much footage down to 1x30min video you could make 2 or 3 from the material and post that to Patreon? I personally love a more in depth deep dive into vintage knitting, especially all the problem solving techniques. I would love a vintage knit along too. I can't wait to see what you're up to Claude!
Are you using the Challenge tab in Ravelry to track what WIPs you are going to try to finish in February? I use it to set a goal for the year, and it helps me stay motivated to knit through my stash.
I enjoy all your videos, and I will watch whatever you feel up to posting. It sounds like you are going to have a very busy year. Remember to pase yourself and please don't wear yourself out trying to put out content.
Echoing the thoughts of people here who say that they join a RUclipsr's pattern just to support that person's work and not so much for the perks. Honestly, I'm far more likely to join the patreon for a maker like you who is on a budget and honest about it, because that means the money would help you create items and videos even more than it would for someone in a more privileged position.
I would LOVE a Retro Claude patreon with a Patron exclusive group of some kind - discord, facebook, slack, blahblah. I don't even think you have to be super active in it, but there's a certain kind of person who supports you and I think it would be fun to get to know them. I get that that's probably a lot to ask, though, so I'm happy just to sign up to support too (Maybe sneak peeks as to some of your other professional work? Totally understand if confidentiality is an issue, I'm just curious about what professional costumers do as commissions). One perk I've seen some people give is 24 hour early access to certain videos of a higher quality on Patreon vs youtube :) Also, have you considered a youtube membership instead? Love your resolutions!
Regarding the knitting/historical knitting projects, I'd definitely be interested in seeing all of that! I love seeing those sorts of experiments! Excited to see more of your stash busting, too. It's really inspired me to do the same with mine :) And I love all the sewing content, of course, too!
Thank you Claude, you have been a bright spot in an otherwise trash 3 years. I decided to focus 2023 on finishing the phd's (projects half done), so Finish it February sounds like something I can get behind.
Hello 😊 I would love to learn more about historical knitting if you do deep dive into it this year. I occasionally watch videos here on RUclips if they mention anything of the sort and I just find it so fascinating! I'm looking forward to following along on your sewing and knitting journey ☺️
Am a bit late to this but I love all the videos you do, they are so relaxing and informative. I enjoy the historical research and content because I think you come to it from a really interesting angle as you’ve been a dress historian but also professional costumier so you can explain when a technique is historically accurate but also when you might want to use a less historically accurate technique for strength and long term wear and when something is good enough both for energy reasons but also not all of us have the time e.g. to painstakingly hand sew everything! I also really appreciate your more realistic content on the issues you face, both “mistakes happen” and “crafting with a disability” type content which is so refreshing when a lot of content is more like extreme crafting life goals and not the nitty-gritty of the hobby. I’m a very slow beginner knitter and crocheter but you’re helping me feel proud of what little I do - after all I’m doing it because I love it! So thank you! Full disclosure I can’t afford to support anyone on Patreon at the moment but I would be up for the occasional donation on Kofi and maybe Patreon in the future. For that reason I’m not keen on Patreon-only content but I like the idea of having b-roll and maybe early release of finished videos as a Patreon subscriber bonus but as I said I’m a little biased for financial reasons. I appreciate each and every video you make as it’s clear how much effort, hard work and thought has gone into each one. All the best for 2023!
I would love if you make a pineapple reticule, but absolutely agree to prioritise the bodywear of the outfit. Do others find it hard to commit to a big project knowing their health is chronically dynamic? Last year I wanted to get better at drawing people (more than stick figures), so I carried around a small sketch book to draw people when I'm in waiting rooms. This year I want to improve my skills and experience working with knit fabrics, and maybe do a project with ... the thin elastic you sew in parallel lines to fabric to make a waistband or sometimes whole bodices are made with it. I can't remember the name right now because brain fog and nominal aphasia 🙃
I think it's cool that you're honest about putting aside the 1940s project for now. I work like that a lot. I'm making a 1930s vintage dress right now, but with the energy crisis I need a couple of THICK oversized sweaters for wearing in my cold house, so the dress has been set aside in favor of knitting up so Lopi sweaters. And that's okay. It's the realpolitik of not only working with a disability, but of crafting in general, IMO.
I often feel the pressure of 'oh but I need to do it for RUclips'! But I'm very lucky to have such an understanding audience who know how I have to work 💚
I personally don't need anything 'extra' from a channel to support RUclipsrs through Patreon. I'm just happy to be able to provide some financial assistance so that the RUclipsr can keep doing what they're doing. So in other words, I have no expectations.
I also enjoy all of your videos, but my favourite is your stash busting, and it almost keeps me accountable for my own stash too. What about sharing about historical knitting or your research on Patreon? I would be all over that, as it is something I find hard to research myself and I am fascinated by it, although I don't want to knit historical patterns myself.
Ditto to what others have said re Patreon. I think the person I support who gives the most is the Closet Historian but she gives a lot more than most of the others and I'm happy to continue with the others. One only gives early release of her regular videos. I too am working on the PA ball weekend ensembles - corset is nearly done and supplies are here for the corded petticoat. Wondering if I have the stamina to attempt it on my treadle?! I'd certainly be much better at sewing on it by the time I'd finished the petticoat! 😁
I love your videos! I understand about energy constraints. I have them, too. Keep going! Your videos are always interesting! I'd like to see the history of knitting and old patterns. I knit lace patterns. Try knitting the reticule with crochet cotton. Finer needles are easier on the hands. The movements are smaller. You're videos are worth waiting for!
Looking forward to whatever you manage to do in 2023! I'm also someone who doesn't set goals because of my health. I would be interested in the thread crochet reticule or any other historical knitting/crochet projects you feel like sharing.
I found your channel last fall because of your stashbusting videos, they're incredible and I can see the work that went into each project and video! As for your patreon question, as others have mentionned, I love being able to support my favourite creators with that donation to say thanks! If perks are a thing, I do love an exclusive discord community! Someone else here also mentionned livestreams and those could be a great monthly thing that you can do if youre health is up for it! Love your channel, best of luck with finish it february, I love the concept!
I would be happy to support you, just because, but if you were worried about giving us value, I agree with another person about maybe scanning a monthly pattern or something, and I do love the livestreams from New Years, so maybe a monthly catch up/chat would be nice.
Finish it February sounds great! I’ve got two WIP’s, and about 3 more in the queue. Love the stash busting videos and looking forward to seeing the Victorian dresses happen!
Hello Claude & algorithm. Either RUclips or my phone may need a "reboot"/nap. The suggested videos are in an identical order, no matter what I do. So, first, I shall boost Claude's Visibility. I hope this works🤞 Now, I shall try removing the battery. If that fails, I shall, rewatch videos in order of compatibility to my state of mind, and/or activity, until RUclips suggests something more apropos. Thank you Claude, for "holding space", even if its close to your bedtime & you have no idea what I am up to. Regardless, best wishes on your Daisy Blouse! 🕯🤞
I don't currently support anyone on Patreon, just because it's not in my budget. However, when I was supporting people, I literally never logged in to look at the perks I was paying for. Not once. I just set up the autopay and slept soundly knowing that I was supporting them. For everyone I wanted to and was able to support, I was already getting as much content from them as I wanted and I decided to support them bc I wanted to support them, not because of the perks. ❤️
Happy 2023 Claud. I whatever this year has in store for you that there is at least plenty of joy. Thank you for taking us on your journey, it’s very reassuring to not feel so alone. 🤓🥂🍫
It sounds like it’s going to be a busy year for you! I’m excited to see what you’ll do, especially with the witch costume. In terms of patreon, I support some creators who have a ton of extra perks and some who have very minimal perks, if at all! And I suspect I’m not the only one. I don’t think you need to produce a lot of extra content to get patrons, but if you would like to add in some extras, I really like blogposts (random ones or ones that go into more detail of a specific project that may have been on the main channel etc) and livestreams. Either way, regardless of perks, I’d love to support you on patreon!
I do historical handspinning on my youtube channel. I live in an 1840s historic village. Feb 9th I am in a film which I am making a winter outfit as the film is outdoors and it is quite cold here. Still have bodice to finish. Skirt to attach. New wool bonnet. Wool quilted petticoat. Knitted wool shawl. A sprang reticule. Fingerless gloves. Yep. I commiserate on making the kit. Luckily I do have the foundation garments. You have a lot to do. Dont worry if you simply cannot. I have a chronic condition too. Very limited energy. Luckily, can knit and do sprang from bed. Good luck! Oh, a reticule in fabric would be just fine.
sounds like you've got a lot planned :D looking forward to any content you make And some creators literally jsut have a patreon to support them (with no benefits)- make it clear that's what it's for and people will support you if they want to Happy 2023
Echoing other's comments on Patreon, I only support one person on patreon, and that's because I literally want them to just keep doing what they're doing. I know some people are interested in perks etc, but I know for a lot of people, they don't support for the perks, they support because they enjoy what someone is putting out now, and they want them to be able to continue to just keep doing what they're doing. I think as long as you're clear, patreon doesn't need to be a thing where you have to add loads of perks and added extras, it can just be a way for someone else support a creator
Happy new year Claude! Was excited to see another video in my subscription box! For patreon, it could be low energy ideas like live stream or behind the scene stuff that’s not polished so you don’t have to worry about editing too much? To be honest I rewatch a lot of your videos as a comfort thing to watch and would just be happy to support you anyway! Which I suppose you could do on Kofi… whatever is the most sustainable for you!
I have finished my stash stock take started at new year. I've kept it very simple & am just with grams rather than balls... I have 2977g all in & honestly, it's quite a bit lower than expected! (Though I do have 500g being delivered later this week for 2 specific projects. Hey ho...) I decided to make 2023 the year of knitting, though my dressmaking plans will still be happening, when my body allows. Along with concentrating on depleting the stash, I've challenged myself to up my knitting game at the same time. With dressmaking I take my time perfecting fit, trace patterns, making toiles, adjusting as I go & take on some complex sewing projects. My knitting is really quite basic in comparison I've knitted since I was a kid but have never once even knitted a swatch or considered perfecting the fit.I know one cast on & struggle to turn the heel on socks. By 1st Jan 2024 I want a much smaller stash & a much wider repertoire :)
You might really enjoy the content of a German guy named Norman, who’s on RUclips as Nimble Needles. He has great videos on lots of techniques and deep dives into comparing different cast ons, cast offs, shaping, etc. Loads of info and he’s really easy to follow. I’ve been knitting for over 50 years and I’ve learned a lot from him.
@@jeanscully8511 Thank you Jean, I know Norman, he's fantastic isn't he? I found his channel last year & am watching through all his vlogs... You're right, he really does know knitting inside out & I really like his teaching style.
I need about 20 finish it February in a row to get all my WIP's and UFO's finished. I'm working on hand quilting quilt tops. My knitting is caught up. Only one project on needles.
Re: Ruff. There's a video on RUclips of a lady who makes ruffs on petersham ribbon for cats (Lauren Rossi) . She's documented her technique and it looks easy. They're not big ruffs, but they look like they could easily size-up for human wear. Since then, there's another couple of videos been done by other people, but I still like Lauren's.
If I tried to put a ruff (or any costume really) on my cat while filming it, my bonus content would be on “ how to stop hemorrhaging using common household items” and “10 things to do while you’re waiting for an ambulance”!
I started to write a comment, left the RUclips app to look something up, and lost it! Anyway. I rather relate to being more interested in the construction than the dressing up! The actual "dressing up" part - the putting on of the costumes and prettying myself up before events - is probably my least favourite part of the whole thing. :D Through time, space and money constraints, I can't really afford to make costumes I would not get a lot of wear out of, though... but I have all these patterning puzzles in my head etc! I'm thinking the solution is to make a half-scale mannequin and experiment on that with the purpose of sharing historical pattern drafts online. :D I love 1840s and would love to see them explored more and that extant dress you chose as your inspiration is one of my favourites, so I'm really thrilled to see where this goes! If you run into problems drafting your own patterns, Black Snail patterns have a pattern for a dress that I think might be amenable to that particular design. I found Roxanne Richardson sometime last year. So I'm also going to do Finish it February this year. If I finish my historicalish stockings, I'll be happy! If I finish more, I'll be thrilled!
RUclips seems to have eaten the comment with the link? So, to be sure, I'm repeating it without the link: It has fan-pleating in the front that would not work, but it has a fitted lining that could be a basis for your pattern, and the neckline shape in View B is identical to your inspiration; so you would at least have a start for the shoulder/sleeves situation. Basically, I'm bringing it up in case that sort of thing might help you save some energy. :-) Also... I can't chime in on the Patreon because, quite frankly, I just can't afford to be a Patreon member for anyone. I never know how much money I will need in a given month. I might buy something from your Kofi shop one of these days, so if you set up a Patreon, please don't get rid of that and keep that open as an opportunity for those of us who want to support you but need to find the right moment for it. :-)
Very Happy New Year! So happy to see a video pop up from you in my subscription box. Like Natalie K., I rewatch a lot of your videos. I enjoy your sewing and knitting both, and especially appreciate how open and honest you are about both the projects and the energy it sometimes takes to work on them. Patreon? Hmm what a dilemma for sure. I am concerned for you that the pressure you might put on yourself to create content might possibly adversely affect your health. And that would make me sad. Still, I am well aware that supplies cost money so if you launched a patreon I would probably subscribe. Meanwhile, I will head over to ko-fi…
I'm not sure about the patreon, but if you're interested in a group for working through wips, The Crimson Stitchery hosts a wipalong through Ravelry, it's a six month long thing and you can join in whenever. Those goals sound awesome by the way!
For Patreon you could put up PDF patterns like you have on Etsy. The idea is that people who just want a one-off can get it from Etsy, but people who want to provide ongoing support can get them through Patreon. Note I am trying to think of something that doesn’t require too much extra work!
Happy New Year! I tried vintage crochet this year as I have put my historical sewing projects on hold until for now. You might want to try this project I found on RUclips that is hexagons. I am loving it,
Vintage knitting - have you checked out Engineering Knits channel? She's done some great pieces, reproducing vintage knitted lace, and I think she's done a reproduction misers purse. Not the same as a reticule, but it might give you ideas for materials, etc. Patreon - as someone said above, I feel it's more like "I believe in you and your work, and let me support you in your endeavors." Extra content is a bonus, but it's not why I contribute. The one person I support on patreon does a once a month behind the scenes live, typically 15-20 minutes that only patrons have access to. She basically is working on her normal content, so is filming what she is working on for upcoming vids, so we get a little sneak peak at future content. She also does polls, so patrons can vote on ideas she has for future content. For you, I believe anyone who would be your patron knows of your health issues, and would be very understanding of what you can and can't offer. Best wishes as you decide on how to proceed 😊
Good morning At the moment, I am avoiding doing the dishes. Hopefully, I shall muster myself to do them next. Then, maybe make more tea, and possibly have lunch After which, I hope to work on my "coat project" (which I was struggling through yesterday)
@@RetroClaude thank you Claude! I mustered myself to do the dishes (emotional glitching, physically quite able) And am about to have yogurt with jam Hopefully more on the coat next!
I don't think Patreon needs to be about 'rewards'. You could maybe release vids to them a couple of days earlier than YT or just a chance to chat to you on Patreon. Or they can just support your work, and get the warm fuzzy of knowing they'd done so.
Im not able to contribute to patreon right now - but when I was subscribed to some artists/youtubers (about 5$ each) only to help them because I liked the RUclips content they had. I know for some people who have a 1-2$ Tier without any benefits - only for people who want to contribute but cant afford much. So I think its worth trying with a tier like that even if you cant guarantee extra content. (Maybe ko-fi would be a better option for that? I dont know! Some youtubers use that instead...)
A early victorian day and ball gown with all the under clothes!!! The 40s suit!!! And the 17c witch costume with under wear!!! You really don't set Goals, you're the Everest climbing seemstress
For Patreon perks, I think that longer, less polished edits of your regular channel videos could be cool. So, your exact same stashbusting videos, but with more footage of those same clips. That could be great if you edit by trimming length holistically, but probably not a helpful suggestion if you edit in strict video sequence. Also, the ability to vote in a poll to decide which of your historical research videos comes out first, or little things like that. Honestly, no one's Patreon perks have ever been what convinced me to donate or donate more. I know my budget, and I know who already makes content I enjoy, you know?
As someone with multiple chronic health conditions, I'd maybe like to hear more about how you're coping with ME on a Patreon. But I would absolutely support you on Patreon with no perks. I almost exclusively support disabled creators on Patreon, because if I could manage a RUclips channel I would love it to be a source of income.
Glad to see you back I hope your time away was restful. I would like to support your work just because I like to watch your videos and it's very interesting to see what you're doing. But I don't like putting my information online so maybe you could publish a mailing address so that those of us who are a little wary about putting our financial information online could send you payments through the mail. Just something to think about
I support several people on Patreon without any more expectation than 'let me help you keep doing what you already do'.
I'm thinking I might find somewhere to donate some of my stash too. Just because I don't have the time to use it all!
Thanks for this! I'll check it out 💚
For Patreon, maybe a few photos here and there of what you're currently knitting/sewing/crocheting if you want to do some extra stuff, or a craft-along livestream whenever you think you're up to it?
When you mentioned the history and research with knitting that would be very educational I'd like to see that
Hi Claude, re Patreon content, I’d love to see anything that you enjoy creating. I agree with previous comments that said, we subscribe to you to just support you and say ‘thanks’. I’ll be a subscriber to your Patreon channel. Sending best wishes and healing vibes from Down Under 💖💐🌸🌺😎🇦🇺
I'm going to the Prior Attire ball too! Which means I have to make 1840s undergarments and dress in very little time 😬 best sewing luck to us both!
Please show the knitting history stuff!!!
I think sewing can be included too. Why not? It's a great way to stop things being neglected 💚
Maybe virtual knit/craft nights could be a thing on the Patreon? I am excited to see your projects in 2023!
Ooh I like this idea! I personally love an open to interpretation brief so maybe I do something along those lines 💚
You just have to learn to accept it and be glad of good days so I understand how you feel.I am not able to support you on Patreon but if I was I would say don't worry about anything other than what your able to do.Patreon is a way of supporting people you value.I love your plans and whatever you produce I will love,
I am a 1 and done girl. I can’t start new until complete with prior. I’ll be watching you and wishing you good health and prosperity
I largely support people on Patreon so they can continue doing the thing they’re already doing.
I'd love that! I'm a real history nerd ☺️
I enjoy more personal content/interaction w creators on Patreon. Lives would be cool, voting/input privileges, and I’m obsessed with the patterns you’ve shared! Would definitely enjoy following along on a project!!!
I would definitely love to watch historical knitting videos!!
Adopt a crafter ☺️ I like it 💚
We are a neurodiverse family and my one boy has dyspraxia and apraxia (which I suppose you can call a physical disability?), anyway: people don’t see our real struggles with our disabilities.
It's gonna be a pleasure to follow you through these projects 😁✨️
Whatever it is that you do, it's great to watch and listen to. I enjoy your channel immensely! As for Patreon, what might be cool is a super relaxed knit along or sew along with some smaller projects, or like a knitting group livestream? Or something as simple as a podcast update just taking through projects and life. You are making a living making art (the best type of living). I'm here for whatever 💗
Yes to the knitting history plans! And yay, I love all these projects 🤞
Cheers 🥂 to you and your health through the new year
Looking forward to seeing whatever you make, you always add your unique take on it which I greatly appreciate!
I would absolutely support you on Patreon. It's a great way to just say thanks for making cool content whenever you can
I would absolutely love to see content on historical knitting and history! Please see yes lol
Good luck with your gentle goals!
Would love to see/hear whatever you get up to regarding historical knitting.
Yes…what she said! That would be perfectly wonderful!
I look forward to seeing what you make in April!
I'm sad to have to wait solong for some more stash busting
Looking forward to spending the time with you.
I hope this works🤞
Now, I shall try removing the battery.
Good luck comrade! We'll make it through and try our best 💪
sounds like you've got a lot planned :D looking forward to any content you make
And some creators literally jsut have a patreon to support them (with no benefits)- make it clear that's what it's for and people will support you if they want to
Happy 2023
Thank you! I've been poking around a few for inspiration 💚
Happy new year 2023! Do what you can! We are here looting for you😁
I dearly love the idea of a band of sewing and knitting spoonies going out looting craft shops for our Claude 😆
That's funny, I'm also doing an 1830s thing this year. I'm starting with a purchased corset, however, which will save me some time.
If I remember right you have quite a few vintage patterns? Would it be possible to put some of the knitting/crochet patterns up?
Happy new year Claude! Was excited to see another video in my subscription box! For patreon, it could be low energy ideas like live stream or behind the scene stuff that’s not polished so you don’t have to worry about editing too much? To be honest I rewatch a lot of your videos as a comfort thing to watch and would just be happy to support you anyway! Which I suppose you could do on Kofi… whatever is the most sustainable for you!
Thanks for the suggestions. I need to up my streaming set up I think but I enjoy it so it'd a possibility 💚
@@RetroClaude your stream setup was perfectly fine on that end of the year stream you did! :)
I enjoy whatever you do
It is on Crocheted by Robin and the design is by Amy .
I love 1840s and would love to see them explored more and that extant dress you chose as your inspiration is one of my favourites, so I'm really thrilled to see where this goes!
Also...
Thank you 💚 From all the feedback I have received I think I could make Patreon work for me in a way that wouldn't take too much energy.
I'm not sure about the patreon, but if you're interested in a group for working through wips, The Crimson Stitchery hosts a wipalong through Ravelry, it's a six month long thing and you can join in whenever. Those goals sound awesome by the way!
I look forward to follow you this year! And I hope you have the energy for all the fun projects
Hope 2023 is your year… I would honestly watch you do anything or talk about anything. I enjoy you and your content so much
For Patreon you could put up PDF patterns like you have on Etsy. The idea is that people who just want a one-off can get it from Etsy, but people who want to provide ongoing support can get them through Patreon. Note I am trying to think of something that doesn’t require too much extra work!
An excellent suggestion thank you!
Thank you! I know Engineering Knits well and it was Maike who started me on my historical knitting journey 💚
Good morning
At the moment, I am avoiding doing the dishes. Hopefully, I shall muster myself to do them next.
Then, maybe make more tea, and possibly have lunch
After which, I hope to work on my "coat project" (which I was struggling through yesterday)
Hope you're having a good day and your coat goes well ❤️
@@RetroClaude thank you Claude!
I mustered myself to do the dishes (emotional glitching, physically quite able)
And am about to have yogurt with jam
Hopefully more on the coat next!
Thank you for the feedback! The way you phrased it really helped me understand why and how people sign up 💚
As someone with multiple chronic health conditions, I'd maybe like to hear more about how you're coping with ME on a Patreon.
