    I remember seeing that bridge for the first time on the first episode of season 1 back when I was a kid. I was mesmerized. Something so special, familiar, modern and futuristic. I could picture myself sitting at a station, working along side these wonderful people, exploring the stars and living the best comfortable life. I miss these days.

    God the Enterprise D interiors looked so... comfortable to me as a kid. I would imagine myself on there, going to work. Safe in deep space, the walls, the doors, the _carpets.._ Beige.
    Seeing it now still soothes me.

    Here's another secret for you: they didn't just update the main bridge set between seasons 1 and 2, they actually moved the set to an entirely different building. They disassembled the whole thing on Paramount stage 6 and rebuilt it on Paramount stage 8.

    The fold out bed function was disabled by Doctor Crusher to make sure Picard actually went to his quarters for some proper sleep at some point. I jest but that's totally an unused script idea from somewhere around Seasons 1 and 2

    With Picard's Enterprise-E captain's chair stolen, that explains why they made the new captain's chair for the nemisis' deleted scene.

    • @James-rn7dx
      @James-rn7dx Год назад +1

      Nope, that chair wasn't the result of the stolen chair. Watch the movie again, just after the bridge gets a hole blasted in it you can see the captain's chair now has a slightly deferent shape to it, so the replica chair was only used at the very end of the battle.

    The bridge with all its faux touch screens has aged extremely well. The 1987 version looks exactly like what we really have in 2023. There is even one scene where Commander Riker appears to be sitting at a table in 10 forward, looking at a smart phone, pure coincidence, but still pretty cool

    I believe I read somewhere that ST Generations is also where they also put the entire bridge set on a huge platform with pneumatic control, so during battle scenes, the platform would move and people's bodies would react normally to how you would if you were standing something that moved suddenly, versus "acting" out these effects like they did during the actual TV show.

      No it was Nemesis where they did that, In Generations, First Contact & Insurrection still that actors and camera operators had to do the shaking

    • @James-rn7dx
      @James-rn7dx Год назад +1

      @@razariel5693 Correct! It's called a gimble and the only time they were used in Star Trek films was in Star Trek 6 and Nemesis. The gimble is actually the reason Sulu had a table in front of him on Excelsior's bridge and the Enterprise had an extended helm center console in ST 6, they hid the gimble mount.

    The original Conn/Ops chairs were both uncomfortable to sit in & stand up from leading to the more upright forward-facing stations in season 2. Although these originals were brought out for All Good Things along with the wooden side panels the 2nd captains' chair was still used in the 'Farpoint' timeline it's possible the original chair had been redressed for Beverly's captains' chair in the future timeline

    Never understood why they didn't use the escape pods when the saucer section crash landed. Sure maybe they didn't have enough for everyone. But from orbit a crash landing probably would take at least 15 minutes. It is probably more like 30 to 60 minutes at least since they were not actually in orbit. They could have even launched shuttle craft and beamed people aboard. Then have a skeleton crew make the crash landing.

    • @julesjernigan7631
      @julesjernigan7631 Год назад

      Do you realize how long it would take to get over 1000 people it to escape pods

    • @MrT------5743
      @MrT------5743 Год назад

      @Jules Jernigan wouldn't need all 1000 to escape pods. Would you rather crash land from orbit or use escape pods. If it takes a long time to use escape pods, then why is that even what they yell seconds before a warp core breach? Tell me you never watched ST without telling me.
      There are 400 escape pods on D. So even if 2 people grabbed the closest one and left, that's 800 gone within minutes. Tell me again why that wouldn't work?
      Heck, many could have been transported to the surface. The stats say they can transport 1000 people per hour. Using shuttle craft 250 more. Do you know how long it takes to crash.land.from orbit? Minimum of 30 minutes. So 500 people to escape pods and 500 transporter and still have time to spare.
