@alexterieur8813 oh yeah thats what I expected happened, but even setting this up to make sure his community has some content on the day of Christmas takes a bunch of extra work when you factor in life outside of the platform. Time still had to be found between shopping and planning for family get-togethers. All i was saying is he could've easily waited till after the holiday to finish editing so he could get it out before new years, but chose a steeper deadline.
Day 41 of asking Rusty to rank every enemy in Elden Ring. After ranking all of the weapons, both main game AND DLC, I am pretty sure you won't have a problem with the enemies. I really hope you get to it before Night Reign comes out, at least. But in the meanwhile, I just wanna wish everyone here a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
I know it's heresy to say it but while I think fromsoft worldbuilding is great, they have sometimes very poor design from a character immersion point of view. I think their true talent lies in how they are almost immune to whenever they actually miss, because it is just a world-building quirk, according to the large fanbase. I wonder if Fromsoft could actually make a game with good dialogue, instead of one that monologues, they really only do the latter. I guess for me it's a little sad for me that the excellent worlds only have one real character, the world. All npcs and the player only exists to further it, as a plot device, or as a metaphor for something else. I love the games, but I think the balance still has room to improve.
Merry Christmas, Rusty. Your videos got me through some of the worst times of 2024 and brought our family a lot of joy and peace. Yes, your ranking videos. We love you, dude.
Most of these quest aren't as fragile as this list makes them out to be. Ansbach in particular isn't actually locked out by fighting Mesmer, but rather from using Mesmer's kindling to burn the sealing tree. Actually for most quests with a lockout condition in the DLC that is the trigger. The only NPC quests directly impacted just by meeting Mesmer are Hornsent and by extension Leda. Although in Leda's case while it skips the Hornsent invasion, she will still be available for the Ansbach invasion.
I apparently did the Rauh Ruins and messmer fight out of order and just didnt see nor hear of Hornsent ever again. Which is good cause i didn't want to kill him but still strange he didn't even see off messmer when we beat his ass together
My thinking is, if the lore is the reason why they're low then I'd love if there were just a brief moment for it to be talked about. But if we're more under the impression people already studied the lore then I guess that's fair too. Game has been out a while after all
i mean when i screw up, get upset or w/e its usually "aw fuck" or some hellish sound, not a preexisting derogatory term used in some r e a l l y nasty ways/by some really reprehensible people *it was not a slip up.*
Why would he NOT rank them based on how fun/interesting/cool/lore-involved they are?? Like who fkn cares about the reward. Like he said himself in the description, this is just another weapons ranking in that case. I see no point in ranking numbers on a screen when you can be ranking...literally anything else in the game
"Fromsoft quests are designed for you to figure it all out yourself" dead wrong. In a statement by Miyazaki, he said that the obuse story and quest design was meant to be discussed between players, who could share info with eachother and help eachother finish the quests. the wikis are all fanmade, which makes them extensions of that communal element.
I can't wait for the "Ranking all 'Rusty Elden Ring Ranking Videos' from worst to best" video when Rusty finally losses it from releasing Elden Ring Ranking videos.
10:27 funny thing is, if an enemy that's usually fight on sight before you even see it yourself is just sitting there not reacting to you whatsoever then maybe, jjjuuuuust maybe don't attack it at all. Just a crumb of self-control, please.
Given that Hornsent goes out of his way to wear the mask of the people who slaughtered Marika's people to begin with, yeah I don't think 'innocent' is anywhere in his vocabulary. At _best_ he's not one of them but just wore it to be a dick, at worst he's directly responsible for Marika's genocide.
Noting the fact that Hornsent dies no matter what is an odd complaint here. Especially alongside the mention that the hornsent broadly needed some degree of moral ambiguity. They didn't. What they did was bad and it perpetuated a cycle of violence that doomed Hornsent to his fate before we ever even knew who he was. The whole point is to demonstrate the perversity of what went on and how it hurt everyone. There is no happy anime protagonist who can overcome any adversity with the power of friendship. Wars and persecutions lead to generational violence. It is the failure to recognize this which leads to continuing cycles of violence, as one retribution leads to another and resentments fester. The real solution being to abandon notions of retribution being seemingly simple is complicated by the feelings of the people experiencing the cycle of pain. It's supposed to feel bad, because it is, and we need to grapple with that. Better here in fiction than in real life when you're totally unprepared for it.
The reason why we needed a friendly hornsent npc is because the Elden Ring fanbase is illiterate and they don't understand that Marika's actions are meant to be nuanced instead of yass girlboss slay unless you put a hornsent npc there to coddle them like goddamn babies To be fair though it's not the game's fault if the player can't put 2+2 together and has the memory span of a goldfish (remember when people were dunking on Marika for treating the missbegotten like shit? Now they might as well not exist for them)
@@nintilla9973 I mean, broadly I agree that the capacity for literary criticism in this crowd tends to be quite low. Shockingly so in some cases. But I'm not sure I really agree with your hostility towards them. People are products of the systems in which they live. Increasingly, arts education is being defunded and de-emphasized. Half of the US can't pass a 5th grade literacy exam. I struggle to be mad at people who are critically underserved like this. Even if it is deeply disappointing at times. Even if it does lead to stupid arguments about how the community tends to mishandle these literary objects and treat them as artifacts of history. If absolutely nothing else, I think it's a positive sign that so many people want to engage with this stuff critically even if it is at a limited capacity. Like, I'm not so hubristic as to think that my read on the scenario is the only valid one. But I see some big authorial signs saying "This is important!" and then I see other people seemingly missing those signs. So I share my view and hopefully that sparks further consideration and conversation. What'd be really nice is if our shared interest lead to everybody learning a little bit more from the interaction.

But in the meanwhile, I just wanna wish everyone here a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Like your character 1:17 . Please give me the creation guide you use for her.
quit your gooning boy
All tied for The Worst. Thanks for coming to my TEDtalk.
Why's that exactly?
Lmfao, it's crazy how a simple haircut change makes Queelign look badass and cool
also to add to the lack of sympathy for hornsent, the fact that he wears that mask heavily implies he directly took part in torturing the shamans
13:37 Dane does speak, but only in a prayer to Miquella when you kill him in the Leda gank fight
Merry Christmas Rusty! Thanks for blessing us with another ranking
I missed some of the beginning of Freyna's quest but still managed to do it because I heard her in the library, never met her before it.
omg! rusty!! how did you know that i wanted a Rusty post for christmas!! i love it. thank you. you truly know me 😚
Merry Christmas, Rusty. Your videos got me through some of the worst times of 2024 and brought our family a lot of joy and peace. Yes, your ranking videos. We love you, dude.
A dragon's dream is a nice and wholesome story for Florissax that expands on the little lore and interaction we get
Most of these quest aren't as fragile as this list makes them out to be.
This might be the way to keep him alive, then? Romina before Messmer?
Dane talks when he dies in the last fight before final boss
merry Christmas Rusty! i hope it’s a good one. thanks for the videos!
CURSE YOU, RUSTY! I HEREBY VOW, YOU WILL RUE THIS DAY!
Good vid, for real. And Merry Christmas.
My thinking is, if the lore is the reason why they're low then I'd love if there were just a brief moment for it to be talked about. But if we're more under the impression people already studied the lore then I guess that's fair too. Game has been out a while after all
Merry Christmas Rusty!!!
Merry Christmas Rusty
Happy holidays Rusty
3:06 ansbach doesnt end with a hard R?
[DISCLAIMER: Im aware rusty said 2012, prior to the "slip up" as people wanna take it.]
i mean when i screw up, get upset or w/e its usually "aw fuck" or some hellish sound, not a preexisting derogatory term used in some r e a l l y nasty ways/by some really reprehensible people
*it was not a slip up.*
@@Volti-VagraOh stfu, nobody cares anymore.
Woke up Christmas morning to presents under my tree, happy wife, happy cat and Rusty uploads new 🔥 content. Couldn't ask for anything better.
Dane does speak, just when he dies during the Enir Eilim mosh pit.
Next rank all the re used bosses.. The second DLC oops i mean Night rain is going to be edge of your seat shit. Merry Christmas!
merry christmas yo
Merry Christmas, brother !
Thank you for the gift of a video on Christmas! I hope everyone is having fun however you spend it! ❤🎉
Merry christmas, Rusty!
Merry Christmas!
Rusty for Christmas? Thank you sir 🎄
I will not brooke this Ansbach disrespect. How dare you!
For new years I NEED the toe ranking rusty
Given that Hornsent goes out of his way to wear the mask of the people who slaughtered Marika's people to begin with, yeah I don't think 'innocent' is anywhere in his vocabulary. At _best_ he's not one of them but just wore it to be a dick, at worst he's directly responsible for Marika's genocide.
Merry Christmas everybody! Rusty thank you for this amazing gift! May your days be many and your Maidens many… wait that’s not the line
merry chrismas rusty
2 Videos in a week
It truly is a Christmas Miracle
Merry Christmas Rus, this is a nice surprise! All the best to you and yerz
Thanks for the Christmas gift, Rusty!
Moore's quest will leave me sad... forever :(
Merry Christmas, Rusty❤
I hardly disagree with Thiollier position. Never even found the guy on my first playthrough.Silent with gray clothes in a rock, blends right in.
A christmas gift from rusty !
Merry Christmas Rusty!
Hornsent Granddam’s name being changed is funny asf every time he says it’s 😭😂
Bro built a career talking about a game he seemingly loathes. I respect the grind
Did you do a base game version of this video rusty?
The reason why we needed a friendly hornsent npc is because the Elden Ring fanbase is illiterate and they don't understand that Marika's actions are meant to be nuanced instead of yass girlboss slay unless you put a hornsent npc there to coddle them like goddamn babies
To be fair though it's not the game's fault if the player can't put 2+2 together and has the memory span of a goldfish (remember when people were dunking on Marika for treating the missbegotten like shit?
Dryleaf Dane actually speaks when you kill him in the big NPC fight.
He sounds like the most normal guy ever.
Best gift ever. Thanks, Rusty Claus

Your character’s hand looks weird. Looks like it’s enlarged and backwards.
Also Merry Christmas
Hope everyone is having a great day today
Woo, Christmas special!
it's gonna be a good Christmas
Bro put all his creativity in the hornsent grandma section
The basketball going through Ymir’s hat got me
You can do Ansbach’s fight with Leda after killing Messmer, but only after also killing Hornsent in Rauh. You just gotta talk to Leda after killing him and she’ll say she’s going After Ansbach
