    *VIDEO PATCH NOTES 1.01*
    General Adjustments:
    17:54 → The timestamp's name has been changed to "Element-Shrouding Cracked Tears" to more accurately represent the relevant tears.
    • For the next few videos, additional slates will be placed on each section's intro card, briefly detailing the effect of the item and how it works.
    Info Adjustments:
    27:26 → The Deflecting Hardtear gives a damage bonus of 20% for 5 seconds after deflecting an attack. The reason I thought this to be 40% was because the tear's effect can actually determine if an enemy attack is light (1 boost = 20%) or heavy (2 boosts = 40%). The ceiling of the boost is still 80%.

    about the deflecting tear, its base amount is actually 20%, but the game classifies enemy attacks into 2 categories: weak, which gives 1 stack upon deflection, and strong, which gives 2. each stack gives 20% damage up to 80, but it's pretty counterintuitive which attacks are considered "strong" in game. the stacks last 5 seconds, and are refreshed on every deflection. so if you deflect and counter, the stacks will stay if you quickly deflect another attack within 5 seconds of your last deflect.

    • @Eskinor
      @Eskinor 5 месяцев назад +6

      @@viljamtheninja Nope. The difference being I need to actively have twiggy cracked tear in my flask and waste a slot just for that, which would be fine if it weren't for stakes of marikas saving your progress, meaning if you're at a tough boss with no site of grace and want to go in and grab your runes, you'll have to backtrack or teleport back to another site of grace, change your flask, then make your way all the way back to the boss whilst not dying along the way. Sacrificial twig also doesn't count because it's a somewhat limited item and they just replaced rings of sacrifice.

    I know that inevitably something needs to be near the bottom, but Crimsonburst is a great tear. Obviously healing a flat amount means it's better at lower HP values, but it heals like 1200+ HP total, compared to the 950 that the Crimson tear heals at 60 vigor.
    It's great at fixing awkward HP values that could be lethal, but aren't low enough that you'd want to use a flask. It's also great for keeping the ritual talismans active. Idk, I still run it on 2 of my 10 characters at the end-game, and I like experimenting with the crystal tears. Feels like it's very far from the bottom.

    • @aprinnyonbreak1290
      @aprinnyonbreak1290 5 месяцев назад +3

      I agree it shouldn't be that low, but it really, really shows its age towards endgame, and by the DLC. It stops being a significant overall amount, and the amount per second stops being enough to really change formulas on what will kill you. Opaline Hardtear has a much bigger effect on your durability, regen spells exist and by that point, there's almost no excuse to not just use them.
      There's a bit of argument to be made with the full health talismans, but, again, with the health and damage amounts swinging around by lategame/dlc, the odds of the regen fulfilling that perfect use case of topping your health off by that sliver between you drinking and closing to attack is basically nonexistent. I guarantee it has happened once if you use it, but probably not more than twice, and the net effect of just using the damage absorption tear and healing normally is kinda just more likely to help.
      It's my personal pick for early game GOAT tear, but it really, really falls off, since it's a hard HP number in a game where that ratio never gets more comfortable

    • @Gatchu137
      @Gatchu137 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@aprinnyonbreak1290 I don't think that it's ever, at any point, as bad as the other stuff that low on the list. It becomes worse in the end game, but never terrible.
      Most builds won't have access to the good regen spells, and if we're talking something like Bestial Vitality, the Crimsonburst tear is a significantly better healing effect.
      Nobody is forcing you to immediately engage after drinking a flask. It's easy to play passively until you trigger the ritual talismans again, you don't need to rush back in.
      The damage absorption tear gives a 15% damage reduction, while the ritual shield gives a 30% reduction when you're at full health. I won't disagree that the Opaline tear is generally better, but the ritual shield is a very strong effect for squishy characters, and Crimsonburst is great for keeping it active.
      I'm not going to be Crimsonburst's strongest soldier, but even at the end game, it's comparable to passive healing incantations like Blessing's Boon in terms of health-per-tic, or Blessing of the Erdtree in terms of overall health gain, but with no requirements or FP cost.

      @@aprinnyonbreak1290 Healing spells are exclusively for faith builds. Yeah, I can think of a few reasons not to use them. Also...you keep talking about how it falls off in late game, but it also heals 1200 HP out of 1900. That's 1.5 flasks, and It's more than any regen incantation. That's a *lot*.

    • @aprinnyonbreak1290
      @aprinnyonbreak1290 2 месяца назад

      @iusethisnameformygoogleacc101
      By the time you're at the DLC, if you can't shell out the faith to slap a regen spell on your build, you are clearly playing in a way that means you don't care about what's good, so use whatever you want, I guess. It's really, really not a big ask to shell a few of your coming up on 200 levels to get some basic regen, and you probably want that much for other buffs anyways, and I'm increasingly becoming convinced that for almost all lategame and DLC bosses, Crimsonwhorl is just better for enabling stupid acts of aggression, HP for your tear slot, and generally being good at turning defensive ability into offensive momentum instead of being just basic not-die in a can.
      The main issue is that it's just not impressive HP/sec by then. It isn't changing hit to kill formulas, it's, at best, a "free" flask if you play slowly, which is certainly *a* way to use your flask, I guess. Opaline Hardtear just does more for your effective HP over time at that point. If you're going hard into a defensive build... you probably have regen on top of it, where it does have a much stronger lategame niche.
      Again, it's not like it's bad, there are some serious depths of sacred tear depravity you can descend to, it's a good option if there's nothing else you actually want, and if you're playing a character that just isn't using spells for RP purposes, then sure, it's universal regen you can access without using an item.

    So, the crimson bubbletear: Yes, endgame bosses do regularly deal well over 20% of your health with a single attack. The thing is tho, i almost never let my hp rest at around the mark were a single attack might just take me out. I'd rather be safe and keep my hp were id at least know I'd be safe to get hit. But I dont heal back up to full because i dont like wasting portions of my flask charges.
    What this usually results in is my hp resting just above that particular bosses "safe hp point" for most of the fight. This inadvertently results in me surviving attacks with like 8 or 12% hp left pretty consistently. And so I almost never get tearskipped. I've used it pretty extensively, and thats why it almost always procs on every attempt. Effectively giving you an additional 1 time instant automatic red flask. And that shit fucks.

    • @doorknobsoup
      @doorknobsoup 5 месяцев назад +1

      Just to be clear, this isn't me explaining how the bubbletear might be good if you use it properly. I do already get a real good use out of it while just playing the game normally. Keeping my hp just above were id get 1 hit by an endgame boss is my default behavior for aforementioned reasons.

    A fun note about #!: Pair it with the Brass Shield and no boss can fucking hurt you. The deflect takes into account the guard stats of whatever you block with. This means, with the brass shield (just as a medium shield example), you can give a ginormous middle finger to anything that deals physical, magic, lightening, holy, or fire damage if you can time your deflects. Another thing to note is that if an attack is too strong for your shield, it'll send you in a weird backflip animation you can then press guard again to get out of quicker. You can absolutely deflect seemingly impossible combo attacks with proper timing. Godspeed my deflecting sons of war.

    One use i found for the Twiggy Cracked Tear was to pair it with one of the rupture crystal tears. It's not gonna come up very often, but if you find yourself with a lot of runes on you and for whatever reason aren't able or willing to teleport to a site of grace you can use this combination of tears to bring yourself back to your last site of grace with no runes lost. Maybe there's an item in the game that already does that rendering this pointless. But it's a funny way of saying "I'm going out on my own terms and i'm taking my runes with me" in the middle of a battle you know you can't win while you have a valuable amount of runes on you.

    i think crimson bubble was very undervalued here, let me know what you think? It's essentially tears of denial from ds3, i.e nearly a must have for pvp and the effect is noticeable especially in invasions - don't take my word for it see high skilled pvp content creators like chasethebro or jeenine for example who use it nearly every time.
    Even just considering pve, i couldnt be bothered taking it out of my strength build in and out again during my first dlc run since i blended some invasions through my progression so ive used the tear in every bossfight. its proc'd nearly every time, in my radahn fight too and is pretty much an extra heal flask - my kill on radahn was actually from the tear saving me
    I think if you consider pvp, (which another tear in the video was mentioned for so it looks like pvp has some impact in the video) its ranking shoots up tremendously. Even if only considering pve, i think its not s tier of course but its still not 33rd and way better than some of the stuff above. I think of it like the opaline bubbletear but instead of having it at the start of the fight, you have it at the end. I'd prefer my tear saving me from a life ending hit rather than using bubble at the start and having it broken early by some light after-attack that does like 100 hp.
    Loved the video though learnt some new stuff especially about the dlc tears

    • @fawazahmed4978
      @fawazahmed4978 5 месяцев назад

      Oh also also the equip load physick isn't criticised by the pvp community because you can have max armour + cannon + mogh spear + anything all in one to swap from (though thats hilarious lmao) but its mostly because you can get the advantages of light rolling without any of the penalties.
      The first thing mentioned isnt a problem because inventory swapping exists, i.e if you want to swap from a cannon to mogh spear you can just de-equip cannon, re-equip mogh spear. This has the advantage of just flat out not needing the physick so one more slot for something more useful. There is also no weapon swapping animation so you can cut to what you want that much faster.
      Hope this helps for anyone curious

I am not a minmaxer by any means and I want the host to have a good time too so I like to do "my part" which usually means that Mogh isn't dead by the time his countdown reaches NIHIIIIL! So I need it to not waste the 3 health flasks I take into the arena for when my dragon breath inevitably locks me into getting bitchslapped by mogh. Just for all the Elden Ring RUclipsrs that try to pronounce Irish words when they show up in video games: you can google a name, and upon learning it's from a language, you can google how to pronounce diphthongs in that language. It uses the Irish alphabet, not the English one, they just use the same latin script. The Eo diphthong is O as in Oreo. You're pronouncing the Ai in (one) correct way. It comes from the word for Horse.

    Love the vid as always but it'd be so helpful to quickly mention the effects of the item you're ranking. I wish I had an encyclopedic knowledge of Elden Ring items like you do, but alas I don't...

    I never know which tears I really want, so most of my runs are just using both Crimson Tears for an instant max HP regain. It's been convenient and requires very little thought on my end.
    Occasionally I might change it for a specific boss fight here and there, but for the most part it consistently delivers on what it promises and I appreciate it for that.

    twiggy cracked tear is actually great, if you accidentally (or intentionally) go into a boss with a sizeable amount of runes but not enough to level up then you can equip this and get your runes, then die and you'll have them out. no need to waste a twig

    ..... The windy crystal tear is an absolute treasure, I do not know how it's not more popular

    The Crimsonburst Dried Tear was very useful when I was insisting on fighting Gaius on Torrent. His max HP is pretty low compared to +10 spirit ash summons so the regen is actually noticeable, and most other tear effects are practically useless on horseback, especially for a pure physical build.

    the twiggy cracked tear and the ruptured crystal tear can make a DIY homeward bone if you really really hate a catacomb you walk into or you've wandered off somewhere in the DLC and want something more entertaining than fast traveling back to where you started

    That clip of Renalla on #4 was hilarious.
    Also there's a conspicuous lack of Sekiro builds despite the top tear and I've no idea why

    coming back to this video, the "just so I don't get stapled to the floor by an unblockable AoE" comment at 1:13 is even funnier after seeing the actual hitbox for the Bloodboon Ritual: it's much smaller than you'd expect, but it's also centered on YOU

    5:24 - Allows for more spell casting (combined with the Cerulean Hidden Tear) and also useful for the repeating crossbow to deliver more dakka.

    We don’t come here to get actual rankings. We don’t care. We are here for entertainment. Rusty is pure comedy. No gaming RUclipsr is even close to as hilarious. This man’s punch lines are creative af and never miss. Def my fav content creator 💪🏽

    Crimson burst is super early in the game so honestly it is really helpful bc your heathbar IS small. I use it in every o playthrough at least for a bit.

    The deflecting crystal tear also boosts the guard counter's stance damage by a lot, it's even more busted than what it looks like.

    I know we make jokes about the lists, but if you do end up getting tired and wanting to take a break from them, that randomize run you did a while back was really good, and it owed pretty much entirely to your sense of humor and editing skills.

    The one niche I found for the Viridian Hidden Tear is that if you're tanking a very aggressive boss (like the final DLC boss), you end up having to be really careful about your stamina and that makes spending stamina on attacks harder. Viridian's effect though means that your attacks don't take stamina so you can say spear poke from behind a shield as much as you want and you're only losing the stamina from taking hits. It then becomes 10 seconds of safely poking the boss.
