It does not surprise me. 25 years ago I sat listening to a Sami man who cried because his children were bullied by Norwegian kids. Norway has a dark history of cultural assimilation which in short means that the indigenous peoples should adapt and become Norwegians. They stole Sami children and forced them to forget their language and culture.

I wasn’t talking the depiction of the movie I was talking about the actual experience of whom this movie based on. I’m aware this is a movie and dramatization is something that’s inevitable. Those other cases I mentioned about they are not my words nor my experiences rather experiences of others. You seem to have bias, since you keep defending Norway and tbh I don’t care about that. All I know is I’d still have the same response if this was any other country. I don’t agree nor support children being taken away from their attentive and loving parents

@@yellow8879 why would anyone take away children from attentive and loving parents?? That is the plot of the movie RRR. there is a RUclipsr called 'Namaste from Norway' who made a video on this with a woman who used to work in the child welfare system of Norway. It did make some past mistakes and has learned from them. It's not like that anymore. I don't know how you are forming your opinions. this movie has only consulted the mother and not the father. and it has neither access to the actual case because it is confidential. I am not jumping to any conclusions. I am ready to talk about it. You may always email me. I live in Denmark which is a neighboring country to Norway and is considered inferior to Norway. I have nothing to gain from defending Norway. It's currently the world's best country overall in many social indicators. It is a huge shame and a waste of resources for someone to make a movie like this to make money by appealing to people's sentiments and emotions rather than being honest and educating about this country's systems. Indian people and culture in general are well respected in the entire world including Norway. It would only be fair for us to do the same towards others. making such movies and misleading people helps nobody.

Yet, 32 percent of Danish women, 30 percent of Finish women and 28 percent of Swedish women aged 15 or older have experienced physical or sexual intimate partner violence (IPV)-a stark contrast to an EU-average of 22 percent. Similarly, the occurrence of psychological partner violence as well as violence by non-partners against women in these countries is higher than elsewhere in the EU

Terrible reporting. No mention of the fact that she was in abusive relationship with her husband, no mention of the fact that her children had autism, no mention of the fact that she would beat her children. While I understand that she's a mother, it's more important that children have a good childhood and their needs met by someone who is capable of dealing with the challenges of a difficult child. Would you want a differently abled kid to sleep in the same room as an abusive father? This movie creates a narrative that is dramatic but ultimately untrue and biased.

Are you saying the children were abused? The eldest was 1.4 years old and the youngest was 3 months old when they were initially taken away. Why shouldnt a 1.4 yr old sleep with his parents? My friends Malaysian of Chinese descent have 2 girls 4 years apart. They co-slept with the elder girl until the second child was born. Then the second girl co slept with the parents until she was 4 or 5. The mother is asia-pac manager of a leading pharmaceutical company and father is a doctor like myself. So what is wrong with co-sleeping? My friend is a strict mother and values discipline. Like any Asian parent. How is this considered as abusive?

In most of these cases generally neighbours inform police if they hear hitting, crying babies etc. Only after that this child care people start keeping eye.
They can not be there all the time and no one will do the hitting part when they are there.
They somewhere mentioned that kids even used to get scared to go to mother. I understand all our parents love us including my parents but even my mother has sometimes hit me to the extent which could be illegal if I was in Norway.

We mostly beaten by our mothers, and when we remember this we find it funny. The sad thing is that because of this movie, everyone believes it's purely due to cultural differences, the Norwegian government wants money and to just steal the kids away.
No, the children would not have been taken away for eating with their hands, they would not have been taken away for anything that would not be considered abusive, neglectful or harmful.
This movie not only fails to acknowledge the other side of the story, where many Indians and others live happily in Norway with their children, who eat with their hands and speak their mother tongue at home, without being torn away from their family. It fails to tell the true story, they never reached out to barnevernet to get the story.
It's so loosely based on the reality that was, and focuses on trying so very, very hard on the sympathy to be for only the mother.
It's a shame because what the real story could be - and this had potential to truly show the reality of the whole situation they were in would have been a real criticism on the Norwegian welfare system, truly a look into the psychological side of what happened and show the culture differences, be a started to create discussion and improvement.
The barnevern could and still can't say much about the case; but there was concerns of domestic abuse, there was police reports from several disturbances, and concern for welfare checks.
Also the children was not instantly taken away.
Foster homes are only allocated after several warnings, and the local municipality keeps a watchful eye to ensure that the children are satisfied and well cared for.
One of the main reasons children are taken away from their families, especially in the more public cases has been from what I've read - parental abuse. Hitting your, or others children is considered Abuse and assault, and is 100% illegal in Norway.
You may say "it's what we do, we discipline our children, i worked out well" But this is one "cultural" thing that will never be budged on, as it causes trauma and physical health is at risk.

    • @mihirojha4475
      @mihirojha4475 Год назад +9

I believe kids should not be hit either, but taking them away from their parents for a reason they didn't have solid evidence to support? How's that justifiable? And I agree, this movie could have done a lot better had they at least tried to portray the other side neutrally. But I'm sorry, this is one case where I'm definitely with the mother. Nobody has the right to takeaway someone's children based on their own judgements without solid proof of wrongdoing. As far as physical abuse goes, I am honestly not sure if a slap counts as abuse. That's one thing all kids have experienced here in India at least once, when they're being extremely unruly. I am definitely not in favour of that happening, but to take kids away from their family isn't the solution. Maybe councilling is.

Do not forget the mass graves of children in Canada, the Europeans in Canada kidnapped indigenous children from their parents... These children were tortured, raped and killed inside the church.
