Michael's effort level there is lower than most people have walking from the couch to the fridge.
eh that's not that easy
@@bLuemaNMKO it rly is
his muscles and his form are top tier which is why he barely needs any strokes to get across the pool. when your form is wrong you have to put a lot more energy into fighting the water -- instead, we learn to be more water dynamic through a LOT of core work
@@bLuemaNMKO For a high level swimmer it's easier than walking
@@sydneycrystal243 So it's less about swimming in the pool hard and more about working on your form?
That Phelps guy could be an Olympic level athlete if he had the right training

Incredible how Phelps seems to gain forward momentum while doing nothing! Wish I could swim like that!
Behind that effortless there are tons of effort
Practice dude lots of it
Any parts that he uses to provide forward propulsion he provides TONS of it, while keeping the rest of his body completely streamlined and buoyant.
A session a day for a year or so will get you feeling much much closee to how he looks here.
He swims like a fish, probably even has webbed feet!
I don't even swim 🤡
I don't really know if an average person swims like that. Kudos to the sacrificial lamb that was sent to make that disparity in skills look even wider.
I think that’s the average. Just go to a lake most kids are just floating only a few do down and backs past the line.
it’s honestly a good bit better than average
@@seanknox7321 Inam average and first 20 meters i swim better than that 🤣
Didn't know the average person swims in a shirt
@@av4rici0u55 lots of American men feel shame about stomach fat. Obesity in America is average.
For a second I thought Phelps was just going to walk faster than him. He has a huge stride.
His legs are actually shorter than the more proportional 6'3" guys, although in strokes I can definitely agree with your comment
@@dank2112Yeah, he actually has short legs and a super long torso. He has long arms. His shoulders are also VERY wide, and his body tapers down to his feet.
He was literally built to be the worlds greatest swimmer, and I don’t know if we’ll ever see a human being surpass him naturally. I’ve never seen someone dominate their sport like MP did.
@@D71219ONE i have longer legs and shorter torso, arm span is 6'8" I'm also 6'3"
@@D71219ONE Johnny Weismuller? He set over 50 WRs at a time when competitive swimming didnt even take place in pools. And was the first person to swim faster than a crocodile
@@dank2112 his legs are doing maybe 40% of the propulsion. His "wing span" is doing 60% or more.
Literally every swimmer against an average person
That was Michael Phelps warmup pace anyway. It’s all about technique.
Honestly Michael Phelps should be an Olympian, he'd surely win a lot of gold medals.

Ain't no way they didn't give him goggles
well phelps doesnt need them over, bro broke the 200 free wr with water in his goggles, his coach used to step on them when he was in the bathroom and make him swim with broken goggles.

what a great quote

As a swimmer, I could not stop admiring that form. The way he doesn't waste a single movement. Those underwater techniques. DANG.
dang.
Well, it sort of helps Phelps that he's not dragging his laundry with him.
Wouldn’t even make the tiniest bit of a difference here 😂😂 effort level of Phelps here is like riding a bike so slowly you‘d almost fall over but not quite…
@@larafroeschl7083 But it surely affects the other guy. It's like he's swimming with an anchor. They handicapped the wrong guy here.
@@jlpack62 yeah I know I’m just saying even without the extra drag you wouldn’t see a difference in how this „race“ would look
@@larafroeschl7083 yeah I know, but andy wouldn't be struggling as much.
It doesn't make that much of a handicap. I've swam wearing clothes and it just makes u a bit slower it doesnt force to put much more effort in or ruin your form
He is legit in a league of his own as an Olympian. No Olympic athlete in swimming or any other sport cones close to the number of medals he has won.
Swimming is a niche sport tho. Not as much competition when compared to running.
And those bong rips were classy, no lie.
@@SW-nx4jz there still are, "dive" more into it
And regardless of the lesser competition compared to track and field, the athletes are much more closely matched in swimming.
Also, it's more physically demanding than track and field, almost all physically able but untrained persons can complete a 100 meter dash or attempt a long jump, regardless of the result.. whereas swimming for 50 meters straight is much more challenging, forget 100, if it's not a trained swimmer. Most people will burn out inside 20 meters
@@dummy9517 they also compete in several events in one set of games, there’s plenty of athletes who were just as dominant in there sport but only are eligible for one medal per games.
It’s pretty dumb to count medals even every event gets one Vs. a sport like hockey that only gets 1.
Give this guy a medal already jeez
That's not an average person... He's faster than most people.
Phelps looks like a giant dolphin.

Well thats what happens when you swim all day every day
This is so hilarious! Love it
I just love Phelps. The guy moves like a dolphin through the water. If I could be any other species, I would be a dolphin.
cool man
I thought you were gonna say you would be a Phelps
@@isntitrich000 same thing.
Michael's body was made to swim. Long upper body and longer arms.
Makes me think if that gene keeps being passed on, we'll have mermaids in some million years 😂
That front crawl at the beginning demonstrated so well how important technique is with swimming.
I'm learning so much from this.👍🏽
😂that was the funniest, thank you for making me laugh!! 😊
Amazing 🤯💪🏼🙌🏼
Do you expect me to believe that this should be an average person 💀
I mean a lot of people don't even know to swim
Yes😁
@@juicyblox5729 that's what he is saying. Andy is more than average
this “average person” is a dude with a fairly muscular build. That’s saying something
Nah it’s not, those that say it is are just terrible at swimming.
So effortless
Mp is just having fun at this point
That’s his warm up pace
I maintain the Olympics should mandate that an average Joe/Jane compete as well, so we can gain some perspective on just how highly trained these athletes are.
Lol that would be a waste of money.
@@hiranom20 Well they'd never win of course, but it would add perspective as to how these athletes compare to average people, ands it certainly would be entertaining to watch an Olympic-level long jumper leap 27 feet and the Average Joe jump 6 feet. LOL
Look up Somalia's Nasra Abukar. Your prayers have been answered!
They do, to an extent… Eddie The Eagle and Eric The Eel spring to mind
@@rankinlas the commentating would be hysterical: "Mike Powell's long jump of 8.95 meters could be a new world record! Now we're going to see Paul Smith's jump... wow, 1.8 meters. Phelps is awesomely both strong and graceful.
Imagine that Phelps dude with an Olympic team spot. I think he would do really well
The “YUGH” at the end 💀
I wish this is how they did every Olympic event. It would actually show how good the athletes are and would make it way more entertaining.
this didn't show the difference at all. In fact, I could do what michael phelps did here when compared to that other guy, and I'm not anywhere near a pro swimmer, I just had lessons when I was a kid. Michael phelps legit wasn't even trying at all even at the end.
hey genius they obviously didn't mean literally this. just the idea but executed well would be good@@user-nj9ru4ef2w
The average person would have a lot of difficulty even completing some Olympic races without being disqualified
@@hearingninja considering the avg person doesn't know any of the 4 strokes, no duh...
That Philips guy or what ever his name is, he's actually a decent swimmer, I'd love to see him compete professionally
I like when the average person hits the side that’s what I do sometimes especially when I do backstroke 😅
Médaille d'or au monsieur pour sa persévérance ! 🥇🥇😂😂
As one of average swimmers, I genuinely want to swim with Michael Phelps !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do this with my no swimmer friend, but when Im passing him, I don't just swim by his side, I do back stroke underneath while waving at him 😂
That spit in the last tho😂
People sitting in their couch whilst watching olympics: "thats not even hard, I could do better, he missed it"
does anyone think that watching swimming? I doubt it.
The "average" is better than average actually. When i go swim at public hours, i see average people way way worse than that. And actually now i feel strong because i am kinda the same :P sometimes when i have someone in front of me i totally disable my feet and still even imbalanced i go faster. Average people don't know how to take air, and how to move the feet, they place their body bad in the water slowing themself down and destroying their stamina for no reason. If you are an average guy who goes to the swimming pool and want to train, PLEASE, first of all. Focus on your technique. Is pointless, USELESS TRAIN SWIMMING IF YOU MOVE BAD. Useless.
Bad movement still gives cardio benefits. So not useless. But not efficient.
@@stuffbenlikes i dont agree. Bad movement can bring pain at the neck if you don't breath well. Pain at the back and so on. edit. actually yes you are right...you get cardio benefits but is it worth if you have pain on the back after?
@@dal968 There's a difference between bad movement that's inefficient and bad movement that causes injury. Either way, it is certainly good to learn correct form. Have a great day!
Agree the average person is probably worse than the guy in the video. In summertime my friends sometimes ask me to take them to the pool with me since I go every week throughout the year and they're worse than that even though they're all dudes in their early to mid 20s.
@@JWFitness1 I mean yeah obviously but most people just learn how to not drown when they are really young and then go swimming a handful of times a year so obviously the average person is gonna be terrible compared to people who actually swim as a hobby
That is very impressive
The effort of the average person swimming vs Phelps is praiseworthy.Just the effort...
Craziest thing is this. If Phelps swims all out, and you (or me) are walking alongside, we have to almost jog to keep up. I did the math.......same with many of the Olympic swimmers.
That’s actually insane 😮
Honestly the average person could swim faster if he didn’t wear a prison jumper to the pool 🏊♀️
I know people are definitely gonna disagree but for an average person who doesn't swim, in the original video I was pretty surprised by Andy
perfectly cut scream at the end
Pretty sure Phelps swims faster than I run
I wanna see Phelps vs Yuzuru :)
His Form (Michael Phelp),so aesthetic
Super 😊
HE'S SO COOL
this would look identical if it was HS junior varsity swim member vs. guy who has never swimmed
when is in the water its like he just becomes a fish just knows how to swim like how we run and get faster at running
I liked the scream at the end
¿Cómo está su Salud mental? Gracias

this is hilarious. My dude is now jumping off the edge and Phelps has swam his two laps already 🤣
His dive was so pretty.
Yes.
Keep training
I think Mr. Average actually is a little bit better than average...
O.o
No way.
He's probably only been in water a handful of times. I doubt more than 5 times in his life.
@@zenwilds2911 Yeah, he is clearly either intentionally or not being a clown.
At 0:10 he bumps against the border
I think I could swim better than that and I hate swimming.
Dayum, i’m a swimmer and it’s actually crazy how streamline he is, gotta work on that.
Lol im a swimmer swimming for 9 years this is hilarious
I'm confident Michael would make a solid lifeguard 😂😂😂
I had to squint but I believe I saw gills on the sides of Phelps' chest.
That’s the power of the herb to open up the mind
Michael phelps is mj for swimming
Bruh it’s like that wii party u minigame vs master difficulty
Helps when the other guy cant swim
I've always wanted to know how Michael Phelps swimming compares to a normal person running on dry ground
im supprised that phelps managed to keep his hips up while going so slow
Bros a dolphin
Add a shark: could be interesting!
Bro swims faster than me running down my stairs
That guy is pretty damn good for the average person
This is why technique is so important in almost any sport whether it's Swimming, Tennis, Kickboxing etc.
damn that's crazy
michael like: dude, you could just come out from the pool and run
Looked more like Michael Phelps vs Man Who's Possibly Never Even Seen Water Before
An amateur swimmer going up against MP is like a jelly fish against a dolphin 🐬
He's the kind of guy to go in the slow lane at the pool
Michael “this isn’t even my final form!”
The guy is not average person definitely has experience in swimming. He can't hide it.
if i cant swim, does that make me below average or extinct?
If that phelps guy continues working hard he could be amongst the greatest swimmers one day.
I swim breaststroke 2k per 65 min. I'm happy I can still swim, so good for your head.

Phelps should be allowed to identify as a fish.
FYI wearing a speedo makes a huge difference.
I'll never forget jumping into the pool wearing one for the first time (1987 LOL)....I felt like a seal.
It's the t shirt weighing him down 🤣
he seems to glide through the water
Bro has dolphins grace
Watching this makes me feel like phelps is basically an underwater creature
😂😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️❤️🙂🙂🙂🙂😃😃😃😃👌👌👌👌
Phelps makes swimming look so easy, which I have figured is really easy after I have been to practice for some months, but to get to his level of ease I need to 100+ years of practice & some change in genetics, lifestyle to be able to digest & assimilate insanely high anount of calories without balooning myself to bursting.
BTW in by just rotating just a bit more I have been able to reduce my stroke count by 33% in 25 metre pool from 33 to 22 in less than a month. But one thing I need to learn properly is to not hold breath & thus breath while swimming, which is not easy as I can easily swim 25 metre in one breath.
Phelps like athlete swimming along side can have two polar opposite effect on people, depending on people's attitude. They will either leave swimming all together or they will fix their mind that swimming can be exceptionally easy. And in most cases people by default (beginners or newbies) will choose option one, unless one can ignore Phelps swimmimg alongside to focus on learning in their pool time (if Phelps is not teaching).
Smooth as a Shark; Silent as a Shark!
O final foi engraçado, cortou bem no momento que o cara iria virar. Hahaha!
Michael Phelps al ralentí.
THIS. This is what I wanna see in the Olympics, a regular dude on the side for comparison
phelps is gliding like some sort of human fish hybrid in there, check the man for scalES~!
