Oh, this is glorious. Takes me back to a happy and peaceful place. This song would have fit quite snugly into a 120 Minutes playlist from the late 80s.
i remember having a dream the night after i first heard this song. the dream was of me driving to this song while seeing a dark red sun in my reer view mirror. yesterday the dream happened in real life. i was 12 when I had the dream, im 17 now. if your in the west coast stay safe
The first song I've ever heard from you guys! I fell in love with your sound immediately! Thank you Brookdale student radio in Lincroft NJ for showing me this gem!
Interesting the comments saying they can't tell what this song is about. I am hit square in the jaw and in the heart with a very specific meaning whenever I listen to this song, even years later. This is such a gem of a track.
It's about not having direction in life. Swinging through life, dictated by fears, running from being responsible for your future or anything for that matter ("you're the one"). Rabbits ears seems like an allusion to weakness, similar to mouse... a brief mention of focus on money ("you see pentacles")... seeing the years pass by, the hollowness of it all. So the whole song seems like a wake up call to whoever listens. At least that's what I took away from it! Nevertheless, a great song!
Where is the nostalgic beach scene to match this song? This song was stamped in my memory since this debuted on XM exactly six years ago around late September on a sunny hot day in early Fall of 2013.
Absolutely love this track. I just discovered this band on Sunday actually. The lyrics might not make sense but I think based on looking up the lyrics that it was meant to be poetic and maybe has a deeper meaning. Really enjoy the guitar melodies and Sarah's voice. She and and the band's sound reminds me of Anneli Drecker/Bel Canto (even more than who she is often compared to, Elizabeth Fraser/Cocteau Twins, who to me have a much darker tone and her voice is almost unintelligible at times). Praying (an illusion to the new album) that their new album also has dreamy, melodic guitars and Sarah's soft voice. I'm also not a huge fan of the new single "Pray for Rain" even though I do like some electro/synth pop but hope that the rest of the tracks shine!. Artists/bands should grow, expand their sound but should still keep some core elements or at least mix in tracks that have their "signature" sound. We'll just have to find out in months to come.
+Michael Early I think with some artists(think Cocteau Twins or even Yes) the sound of the word can be as important or even more so than the meaning. I'm ok with that. The voice as an instrument not tethered to a narrative.
Brilliant! Love this. I want to know more about them. I'd really like to know where this kind of music is coming out of... is it a scene, a city, a lifestyle, a feeling?-- if so, I want to be there. :)
They're from Portland, on the west coast of America. I know there's an exciting music scene there but I don't know that much about it. Johnny Marr wrote a lot of his stuff there for his new album and has a house there too so there's definitely something happening around there.

EightAndAHalf1 It's just some death jazz. Look if you want something actually good along the lines of this pendulum snoozer, check out the album Nocturne by Wild Nothing. Far more catchy, engaging, and beautiful.
EightAndAHalf1 Haha death jazz is just something I saw someone call Hella before but I don't think they are the sound you're referring to, so go for it. You'll be the next big thing!
+EightAndAHalf1 you know that is not what Kendrick raps about. Meaning of lyrics for songs like these are much more flexible than rap, while rap tends to have more profound and blunt meaning
This is a song that could be made yesterday, or 33 years ago. It’s the definition of timeless.
Damn you deep
@@harmonyhondaalexis110 Glad to see people are still listening to this!
Facts. Call it 50 cause it’s got that 70’s vibe
Once every year, it seems like this finds itself again back on my FYP. And I have to play this masterpiece again.
I love that '80s sound! It sounds like a collaboration among Prefab Sprout, Kate Bush, and Tears for Fears.
and cocteau twins :-)
And add the jangly guitars of the Smiths!
And a sprinkle of The Dream Academy.
Jeff Smith and a whole big helping of west coast/best coast chill wave a la washed out
Also Dire Straits and Fleetwood Mac (which is more 70s, I know), especially with the guitarist's finger picking style on his Strat.
sounds like what I imagine a nice dream would sound like.
I love it.
This song is so soothing! A friend of mine put me on this song and I'm so glad she did! Every road trip I play this song!
Still my favorite song of the 2010's. No joke.

I used to listen to this in college, when I was having panic attacks over my academic performance. It is the most chill thing
So grateful for discovering this band. PHENOMENAL.
This band deserves a million dollars for making this song

Sounds like a beautiful dream.
Good to see Memoryhouse has had a massive influence on at least one contemporary band! Really looking fwd to this album.
It’s your face in the mirror. There’s a change and it hurts.
Criminally underrated. Love this.
last time i was here it was 2013, glad my mind chooses to remember some things even if it's at the oddest of times
Thanks to Sirius XMU Radio for introducing me to this band! Love this song.

YOU'RE THE CAT'S EYE...
I AM THE EYE OF THE...
STORM
"LITTLE FEARS, LITTLE FEARS, WHISPERED IN A RABBIT'S EARS..."
You're the cat's eyes
You're the pendulum
When the orator says
It's your time, you're the one
All the natives say
You know it's your time, you're the one
Little fears, little fears
Whispered in rabbits' ears
But now you're gonna swing like a pendulum
In your mind's eye
You see pentacles
Fortune tellers say
It's your time, you're the one
And your wife, she says
You know it's your time, you're the one
Little fears, little fears
Whispered in rabbits' ears
And now you're gonna swing like a pendulum
Little fears, little fears
Whispered in rabbits' ears
And now you're gonna swing like a pendulum
It's your face in the mirror
Hasn't changed through the years
And all you do is swing like a pendulum
You're hollow, oh oh
So hollow (So hollow)
Beautiful song : )

I know Kate Bush is still with us, but it seems like part of her has been reincarnated...
Hmm.. nothing too exciting for me here.

What the hell is this song even about? The lyrics make no sense.
EightAndAHalf1 nah I'll go back to my Kendrick Lamar. Have fun with "little fears and rabbits ears"
At least rapping requires talent. All these indie artists throw random words together and think they're making music. Fuckin idiots.
EightAndAHalf1 you have fun with your indie songs by people who have zero talent and make music that doesn't make any sense.
+EightAndAHalf1 you know that is not what Kendrick raps about. Meaning of lyrics for songs like these are much more flexible than rap, while rap tends to have more profound and blunt meaning
+EightAndAHalf1 Don't be mean; I struggle with the meaning of songs all the time. The instrumentals are lush. I just enjoy the atmosphere of it all.
