They must see that pirates and castles are deeply imbued in our chilhood memories. Every time they release something we go back 1 year younger and now that we have the money and space we are more than willing to be milked out of it for nice sets. PLEASE castles and pirates. And make them playable, we don't want a 700 millennium falcon or destroyer without playable features, the money is for playing, not displaying. Signed: a 44 years old kid
There's something really quite charming about these classic sets and I can't quite place my finger on what it is. The little trading boat is really unique and a really nice build for what it is, never u understood why lego didn't make more of these. Its not all about pirates, would have liked to see more trading vessels and imperial vessels to go along side the pirates. Really nice video, great to see these old sets being brought out into the light again, do you reckon lego knew they would still be popular today?..
I had a friend that had it and to me it seemed huge. I've wanted it ever since except.... now there's a better imperial fort coming out that I want instead that's like half the price
I wanted this set so bad growing up that I wagered my mom this set against a month's worth of doing dishes during the Cowboys/Steelers Superbowl. I lost.

I built my own Eldorado Fortress. Though I like this set more because of the mid-sized sloop and aspects of this redcoats set like the docks, and the relatively rare minifigure who captains the mid-sized sloop.

Agreed, now they focus on licensing products and huge adult sets. Pirates, castles and other themes now become like a creator 3in1 sets

The whole audio sounds kinda off, I think his microphone isnt the best. Although I could be wrong.

The mini-ship or sloop that came with this set always fascinated me. I don't know why, but as a kid I often wondered if it was a mini-scale lego-ship.
I still have mine. Been updating it and adding more detail to it along with the El Dorado Fortress.

Close - the one from this set has blue pants and a brown hat, from the Schooner has grey pants and a black hat. But other than that good eye!
