I’ve always thought Songs For The Deaf was their best record but the longer that time goes on, I’m starting to edge towards …Like Clockwork. They are both fantastic records and two of the best hard rock albums of the 21st century. I’m also lukewarm on Rated R by the way, although I probably haven’t given it a fair crack in all honesty. Agree with everything you said about Keep Your Eyes Peeled, a song which I originally disliked (unbelievably) but is now one of my favourite songs on the whole album. Also, a shout out to the two final songs on SFTD, Song For The Deaf and Mosquito Song, both fantastic songs which I overlooked for many years because back in the day I used to lose interest after Go With The Flow and often skipped the last few songs (the folly of youth). They are now amongst my favourite songs on the album 😁 Anyway, great video, personally I’d love to see more rankings videos like this. I also enjoy your classic album reviews. Your Tears For Fears one really got me into that band in a big way.
I have a pretty different ranking, but it was interesting to hear your thoughts on these albums. I would put Rated R at number 2 personally, behind Songs for the Deaf.
Surprised to see the love for Era Vulgaris. I've always held that album in high regard but it was also my first Qotsa record so I'm a bit biased. Wondering if you were gonna listen to the new Alex G record. I really love it. Wanted to know your thoughts.
"I'm putting Rated R at 7" - unsubscribed. Anytime Mark Lanegan showed up (RIP) it was prime Queens. I still think SFTD is probably a rock album that hasn't been topped since it came out, at least among more straightforward rock. That line in Go With the Flow, "I want something good to die for, to make it beautiful to live," gets me every time. Probably should be considered THE rock act of the millennium. 1. Songs For the Deaf 2. Like Clockwork 3. Rated R 4. Era Vulgaris 5. S/T 6. Lullabies to Paralyze 7. Villains
Rated R is amazing and miles ahead of Songs For The Deaf
I would rank the album exactly the same as you did! I'm very curious what QOTSA will return with
