- This video shows how to fix problems downloading video and pictures from iPhone 11 to a PC. It should work on Mac as well. When trying to download computer gets "A device attached to the system is not functioning" error. This should work on iPhone 11, iPhone 11 pro, iPhone XR, iphone X, iPhone X max, iPhone 8, and iPhone 7 to a Windows PC.

@@Somecooltech1 so, this solution means that, unless you have selected the "Most Compatible" format, then if you go with the option you are suggesting as a solution to this problem (Keep Originals), then the files you copy to your PC will be in HEIF/HEVC format. Meaning that they will not be compatible per say to play on your tv etc .. right ?

@Robin Ashby Yes, you can safely remove from your phone once you have uploaded them on to your PC. This will free up storage space for you.

That’s great, but it saves it to my PC as HEIC files, and not jpg. So I have the files but can’t share them or do anything with them :( I freakin HATE iPhone. This shouldn’t exist as an issue and why they never fix it is beyond me.
@@roxnroll8050 Hey download HEVC Video Extension from the Microsoft Store. It will automatically restore your photos and videos and make them viewable.

After spending hours of frustration and research of every single suggestion online (you have to use Icloud, you have to use windows photo app, you have to do this, you have to do that, this needs installed, this needs updated). I watch one video for less than two minutes and you fixed all my problems with the snap of a finger. Way to go talking me off that bridge man, Kudos! My daughter will be happy to see her iPhone is still in one piece when she wakes up tomorrow.

There are many Google search results out there that advise all the idiotic boilerplate things like changing the USB port, checking the cable, updating drivers, unplugging all other USBs, reinstalling Windows etc. This video deserves to be at the top of the search results because your solution actually works and is dead simple. I hate iPhone right now. This helped me get some photos transferred off but then the error popped up again. Garbage
When I do this my videos turn into audio recordings...so I can't actually see the video... Not sure how to fix that...it is really getting on my nerves. I used to upload on automatic with no problem and all of a sudden it doesn't work. What the hell is Apple doing!!!

Works to transfer the file the problem is you can't view the file and only hear audio. Please address this in your video please. Not sure what to do with the transferred file. Thanks.
you cant use windows media player to view as the codec is not supported. You need to use VLC player or itunes to play the video.
Dahrkcloud I am using Camtasia to try to edit the videos but no luck. Tried Pinnacle Studio also it just has audio and a black picture no video

I can't figure it out either. Maybe apple doesn't want people downloading formats like h.265 and heic to pc if the codecs are not fully installed. Or maybe they are just trying to make people buy a mac. Haha. Glad this worked for you.

I have struggled with this issue for years, and had not found anything to fix it. The settings change you describe took care of it! Thank you for posting this! I had been working around the issue by uploading the large media files from my iPhone to the cloud, then downloading them from the cloud to my PC. That works, but is very time consuming. I decided to try another search on the issue, since it had been awhile, and I found your post. I have noticed that the USB file transfers are very fast with this settings change, as well as reliable.
