I'm only at 369 meters so I use a pixel watch instead, it's also 500$ less to replace when you're caught in an avalanche and lose your watch. Daily struggles...

I used an apple watch for the last 4-5 years and while I loved it I couldn't be happier that I made the switch back to wearing a traditional timepiece. In the end I've found it very freeing to be less "plugged in" and not receiving all of my notifications on my wrist. There was this moment of panic when I first made the switch that I might miss some important call or text and everything would be ruined, but it's all turned out just fine. I think the only thing I miss about it was using it while at the gym. Thanks for the Videos, Andrew!

@@missaoporto you know, that’s why I’ve never worn one and probably wont outside of a mini adventure. I don’t want to be that connected.

@@missaoporto I am exactly in the opposite case. I used an automatic Oris for years, not wanting to do the change to some expensive smartwatch that will go to end of life a couple of years later, but now that I have my first AW, I found lots of benefits, but I depends a lot on what you do and expect. For me is extra useful because my whole home is homekit enabled and I do also train using Apple Fitness because it is not easy for me to go to a GYM. Although I know that in 3-4 years the current AW U will be obsolete meanwhile my Oris will still be great in 20 years with just a minimal calibration and maintenance.

When I was kid my father was a hacker and solo climber so definitely it would’ve been part of his set up a clock like that… he had something.
(He went as solo in Monte Bianco/Mont Blanc!!!)
I clearly remember this bulky and cool waterproof watch, it was early 2000s so I don’t remember the brand but was rounded with compass and altitude and go on. It was black with green screen… Casio?
I could imagine him being mad with this new tech watches, the last Linux os into a Mac and a jailbreak iPhone! :)
That’s amazing comparing my memories with this! Amazing!
Brings me memories like when he took me into the snow, i’m living in italian Alps, his climbing gears.
    A lot of memories!

I wouldn’t mind it if Apple made a thin pure fitness tracker without a screen but I love ‘proper’ watches too much and I can’t bring myself to have an Apple Watch on one wrist and a mechanical on the other. Currently I compromise with a Fitbit Inspire, which seems about as inconspicuous as a wrist-based fitness tracker can get.

the reviewer makes it sound like the garmin can not be used for every day things.
I daily wear my Fenix 7x . i love how you dont have to charge it every day and all the problems mentioned on the video (sleeves, screen freezing , buttons hard to operate) are literally not a thing with a Garmin.
Garmin receives notifications and even lets you answer texts (in a limited form but still)
About the only thing the Apple has going over the garmin is the implementation with the iphone ,built in SIM card and the gimmicks. Garmin has been doing what Apple is even just attempting to do for years.
Also battery life on Garmins is not an issue at all granted you charge it before your adventure you wont be wondering if you have enough charge for weeks.
One of the reasons i switched to garmin from Samsung watch is because the battery was always an issue . even for daily use. I could not imagine what it would be like ona 3 or 4 day hike .

I really enjoy your uploads Andrew. You've improved my watch knowledge over the last 3 years hugely. When the watch you're commenting on isn't one that interests me, my subconcious mind starts to pick up on the influences behind your verbosity. "Feels like I'm wearing nothing at all" most definitely is down to the neighbourino living next door to "Stupid, Sexy Flanders."
I'm pretty damn sure your "searching for a needle in a stack of needles" etc in another upload is an homage to the other Flanders, or rather the setting for Blackadder Goes Forth.
It's quite incredible how well written comedy provides so many with cultural touchstones in their lives whilst growing up. Homer S & Captain B certainly armed many of us a litany of wonderful words to reference.

I quite like the Apple Watch for a variety of reasons. I don’t own the Ultra, but my previous two bit the dust when I wore them in super hot, super humidi situations. So, Mr Morgan, you should bring the wife to Koreatown in LA and test the Ultra in the steam and dry saunas of a Korean spa. Then drop it in the kimchi to see if the titanium is really stain resistant. Game on.

I have found that the last thing I want to do is check Instagram posts or texts while I am scaling a wall or descending a face hand over hand.
