When trump took office, there were numerous fashion articles about how awful the maga taste in suits is and how terribly they treated the tailors of DC. If that guy claimed to be a "Navy colonel"... he's lying. Colonel is a rank in the Army/USMC/USAF/"Space force", but does not exist in the Navy or Coast Guard. edit: what may be an issue is a combination of two things: A: lack of knowledge of military terminology on DD's part (which is fine! It's very common to not understand if you've never been in/around the military) or B: the fact that the rank symbol for "colonel" is exactly the same as the rank symbol for "captain" in the Navy/USCG , so if you google that symbol, the colonel rank would come up in the results. But if that guy came out on stage and said "I was a colonel in the Navy", he's a fraud and a liar. A Navy captain would never mistakenly call himself a colonel. I'm an Army veteran so hearing "navy colonel" set off alarms for me. And that's without getting into that him being an "intel officer" doesn't really mean anything. First things first, you are one brave person and no words can begin to describe what it must've took to do what you've been doing here. Long comment ahead, spiced with a lot of ranting, be warned. I've been watching your content for a while and I love hearing you talk about anything (whether it's about hate churches, or about Liu Kang dropping some mf into a black hole). The topic of the Gaza genocide has been talked about plenty, from both Israelis and non-Israelis, and we all know what sorts of horrors are unfolding there, so I thought I'd bring something else into the conversation that I haven't seen yet: the Israeli people. I've been living in Israel for all of my 22.5 years on this god-forsaken hunk-of-rock-in-space, and as much as I would like to say that Nethanyahu's madness doesn't reflect what the people here think and believe (not just about this bloodbath, I'll talk about it more in a bit), that is sadly untrue. While I've seen quite a few Israeli people in your antisemitism video's comments, talking about how we oppose this needless bloodshed, we seem to be very few and far between. Not only is Bibi getting more fervent support from his voter base, but the idea of "kill everyone in Gaza and erase it of the face of the planet" has become very much accepted by many people here, from all sides of the political spectrum. Even my family, who are about as anti-Bibi as you'd get here, are opening up to that idea and possibility. And let's talk about Bibi's voters here, shall we? I often say that Nethanyahu is the Israeli equivalent of Trump, and this is one reason why: In 2016, Trump said that he could shoot someone in the middle of the street, and he wouldn't lose any voter (paraphrasing). Now imagine that, coming from an Average Joe Israeli citizen, saying that Bibi could r-word his daughters (his words, not mine), and he would still vote for him with zero hesitation. And that, unfortunately, seems to be the memo for a sizable portion of his supporters (who make up about a quarter of Israel's votes in just about any election since 2014, and that's without including people who vote for the bigger nutjobs in his circle(s) like Itamar Ben-Gvir or Bezalel Smotrich, who made up almost another quarter of our voters in the last election), who often seem to treat him like a demigod who can do no wrong. And more terrifying is that, especially since the 7th of October, this rhetoric gains more and more presence in Israel, from all parties. The 7th of October caused many people in Israel to "sober up", for lack of a better term, and not necessarily in a good way. It is now clear to me that Israel's left wing is dead, and honestly, I fear the same will happen soon in the rest of the western world. Both because of everything that's been going on in the world, but also because people from the right wing have historically been more willing to take extreme actions against their "enemies". And this place solidifies my fears. The next 4 years are literally gonna be one hell of a ride, regardless of who wins the elections.

With the exception of one (who is also opposed to this mess), I haven't really been in contact with my friends since the war started (but that's mostly because I always sucked at maintaining relationships), so I can't tell where their thoughts lie on the matter until I talk to them about it. 2. It's unlikely I would talk to them about it at all, because there's nothing my introverted ass despises more to talk about than politics of any kind. Left, right or center, doesn't matter, it's never something I want to talk about with others. Besides, if I wanted to cause potentially irreparable rifts in my friendships, or even lose them entirely, I could just invite them for a game or two of Mario Party. What I can comment about however, is my workplace, my family and what is said on the local media. From various conversations I've had the displeasure of listening to (before and after the 7th of October) , it seems that most, if not all of my co-workers are on the right (->, not V) side of Israeli politics in general, and they've made it very clear they are in favor of carpet-bombing the Gaza strip and killing everyone there, despite the fact we have quite a few Muslm people also working there (whom I haven't asked about the matter, nor have I heard others talk with them about the matter). As for my family (both nuclear and extended), like I said in my original comment, we're about as anti-Nethanyahu as you are likely to find in Israel. But that doesn't mean they are in the same mindset as me. While they are left-leaning (with the exception of my older brother, who I heard say some very... familiar things, since the war started), they also seem to support the IDF in this conflict. I try to avoid this topic at all costs with them, so as far as I'm aware, they think that I'm anti-Israel AND anti-Palestine (which I was at the first two months of this war, until I really saw what's really happening in the strip). And speaking of seeing things, I can't really tell how much other people in Israel get exposed to "outside perspectives", but they definitely can't get enough of the "News", which I put in air-quotes because most news coverage in Israeli media (which can take up to at least 8 hours per day across all the four main tv channels here) looks more like gossip talk and less like journalism. And as you can guess, only the Israeli side of the story is shared with the population. The only news source I've seen giving any hint of light to the genocide is Israel's left-wing newspaper "Ha'aretz" (literally: "The Country"). tl;dr: From my limited interaction with other people here, it seems that too many people, from all sides of the political map, support the genocide directly or indirectly. I hope I gave you some insight (even if it wasn't the insight you were hoping for). If I could give you (and other left leaning people in the US) one piece of advice, it's this: If you think about not voting for Biden because of his support of Israel, you absolutely should vote for Biden. Yes, he may be supporting Israel in this bloodbath (at least at the moment), but I'm certain that Trump will be a million times worse in this regard. He's already shown plenty of support for us in the past (and present) and he's a very good friend to Bibi. Palestine's situation will look a lot bleaker than it does right now if Trump wins the elections. Also, a not-so-fun fact: There's an entire roundabout in Petah Tikva (a city not too far from Tel Aviv) dedicated to the Gumshoos man himself, complete with a sign and a statue commemorating him.

One thing that struck me as odd is how they go from starting the day with the pledge of allegiance which ends “With liberty and justice for all” followed immediately about talking plans to eradicate groups they don’t agree with and establishing a dictatorship.
Though to be fair the pledge of allegiance has some pretty big words so I doubt they know what they mean. I certainly didn’t when they had us reciting it daily in Kindergarten.

If that guy claimed to be a "Navy colonel"... he's lying. Colonel is a rank in the Army/USMC/USAF/"Space force", but does not exist in the Navy or Coast Guard.
edit: what may be an issue is a combination of two things: A: lack of knowledge of military terminology on DD's part (which is fine! It's very common to not understand if you've never been in/around the military) or B: the fact that the rank symbol for "colonel" is exactly the same as the rank symbol for "captain" in the Navy/USCG , so if you google that symbol, the colonel rank would come up in the results.
But if that guy came out on stage and said "I was a colonel in the Navy", he's a fraud and a liar. A Navy captain would never mistakenly call himself a colonel. I'm an Army veteran so hearing "navy colonel" set off alarms for me. And that's without getting into that him being an "intel officer" doesn't really mean anything. I would like to clarify the Ted Cruz Cancún situation was not only that it was during Covid but also during the "Freeze". During this time millions of people in his state went days without power and he just left instead of trying to help with relief efforts. So yes while this did happen during Covid the main reason people were mad is worse.

Greetings from (what I can only hope is) the more sane side of Israel. First things first, you are one brave person and no words can begin to describe what it must've took to do what you've been doing here.
Long comment ahead, spiced with a lot of ranting, be warned.
I've been watching your content for a while and I love hearing you talk about anything (whether it's about hate churches, or about Liu Kang dropping some mf into a black hole).
The topic of the Gaza genocide has been talked about plenty, from both Israelis and non-Israelis, and we all know what sorts of horrors are unfolding there, so I thought I'd bring something else into the conversation that I haven't seen yet: the Israeli people.
I've been living in Israel for all of my 22.5 years on this god-forsaken hunk-of-rock-in-space, and as much as I would like to say that Nethanyahu's madness doesn't reflect what the people here think and believe (not just about this bloodbath, I'll talk about it more in a bit), that is sadly untrue. While I've seen quite a few Israeli people in your antisemitism video's comments, talking about how we oppose this needless bloodshed, we seem to be very few and far between. Not only is Bibi getting more fervent support from his voter base, but the idea of "kill everyone in Gaza and erase it of the face of the planet" has become very much accepted by many people here, from all sides of the political spectrum. Even my family, who are about as anti-Bibi as you'd get here, are opening up to that idea and possibility.
And let's talk about Bibi's voters here, shall we? I often say that Nethanyahu is the Israeli equivalent of Trump, and this is one reason why: In 2016, Trump said that he could shoot someone in the middle of the street, and he wouldn't lose any voter (paraphrasing). Now imagine that, coming from an Average Joe Israeli citizen, saying that Bibi could r-word his daughters (his words, not mine), and he would still vote for him with zero hesitation. And that, unfortunately, seems to be the memo for a sizable portion of his supporters (who make up about a quarter of Israel's votes in just about any election since 2014, and that's without including people who vote for the bigger nutjobs in his circle(s) like Itamar Ben-Gvir or Bezalel Smotrich, who made up almost another quarter of our voters in the last election), who often seem to treat him like a demigod who can do no wrong. And more terrifying is that, especially since the 7th of October, this rhetoric gains more and more presence in Israel, from all parties.
The 7th of October caused many people in Israel to "sober up", for lack of a better term, and not necessarily in a good way. It is now clear to me that Israel's left wing is dead, and honestly, I fear the same will happen soon in the rest of the western world. Both because of everything that's been going on in the world, but also because people from the right wing have historically been more willing to take extreme actions against their "enemies". And this place solidifies my fears. The next 4 years are literally gonna be one hell of a ride, regardless of who wins the elections.
Thank you for your perspective, I've been trying really hard to get a grasp of what the Israeli people overall support in this situation, since I want to be able to blame the genocide solely on the government + IDF. In your friend groups have you gotten the sense that there are a lot of your peers that are outraged and opposed to what the IDF is doing currently? Or does it feel like people won't speak out against it in fear of seeming unpatriotic or something. Thanks for any answers you can give. I feel so much guilt and dread about this situation as an American and I'm sorry you're stuck even more in the thick of it
@@ShmethanI can't say much about my friends, because
1. With the exception of one (who is also opposed to this mess), I haven't really been in contact with my friends since the war started (but that's mostly because I always sucked at maintaining relationships), so I can't tell where their thoughts lie on the matter until I talk to them about it.
2. It's unlikely I would talk to them about it at all, because there's nothing my introverted ass despises more to talk about than politics of any kind. Left, right or center, doesn't matter, it's never something I want to talk about with others. Besides, if I wanted to cause potentially irreparable rifts in my friendships, or even lose them entirely, I could just invite them for a game or two of Mario Party.
What I can comment about however, is my workplace, my family and what is said on the local media.
From various conversations I've had the displeasure of listening to (before and after the 7th of October) , it seems that most, if not all of my co-workers are on the right (->, not V) side of Israeli politics in general, and they've made it very clear they are in favor of carpet-bombing the Gaza strip and killing everyone there, despite the fact we have quite a few Muslm people also working there (whom I haven't asked about the matter, nor have I heard others talk with them about the matter).
As for my family (both nuclear and extended), like I said in my original comment, we're about as anti-Nethanyahu as you are likely to find in Israel. But that doesn't mean they are in the same mindset as me. While they are left-leaning (with the exception of my older brother, who I heard say some very... familiar things, since the war started), they also seem to support the IDF in this conflict. I try to avoid this topic at all costs with them, so as far as I'm aware, they think that I'm anti-Israel AND anti-Palestine (which I was at the first two months of this war, until I really saw what's really happening in the strip).
And speaking of seeing things, I can't really tell how much other people in Israel get exposed to "outside perspectives", but they definitely can't get enough of the "News", which I put in air-quotes because most news coverage in Israeli media (which can take up to at least 8 hours per day across all the four main tv channels here) looks more like gossip talk and less like journalism. And as you can guess, only the Israeli side of the story is shared with the population. The only news source I've seen giving any hint of light to the genocide is Israel's left-wing newspaper "Ha'aretz" (literally: "The Country").
tl;dr: From my limited interaction with other people here, it seems that too many people, from all sides of the political map, support the genocide directly or indirectly.
I hope I gave you some insight (even if it wasn't the insight you were hoping for). If I could give you (and other left leaning people in the US) one piece of advice, it's this: If you think about not voting for Biden because of his support of Israel, you absolutely should vote for Biden. Yes, he may be supporting Israel in this bloodbath (at least at the moment), but I'm certain that Trump will be a million times worse in this regard. He's already shown plenty of support for us in the past (and present) and he's a very good friend to Bibi. Palestine's situation will look a lot bleaker than it does right now if Trump wins the elections.
Also, a not-so-fun fact: There's an entire roundabout in Petah Tikva (a city not too far from Tel Aviv) dedicated to the Gumshoos man himself, complete with a sign and a statue commemorating him.
