Cinemasins has really went downhill. They used to actually point out actual sins and plot holes that were actually funny. Now they just say shit like "obi wan walked through the door funny" *ding* or something stupid like that.

@@pokespartytv8086 While that is pretty true, this is the third movie (okay, sixth) in a pretty massive franchise and is set towards the events of a massive war. By this point in the timeline, you kind of need that extra media to have a full grasp of the situation. It would be a bigger sin to have all the characters act like everything is new information to them, given they're all Generals at this point. Also a few of the sins, like Palpatine risking himself in the crashing ship, kind of show how nit-picking this list was. "Behind-the-scenes control?" of course it was, the entire franchise is pretty much based on Palpatine behind-the-scenes'ing everything.

@@cyqry It doesn't matter how big the conflict is or the fact that its star wars. The movies should be able to stand on their own in giving a cohesive story. If you need to watch a cartoon series to understand a character and actually get some cool stuff out of them, then that's a failure on the movie's part. I watched the 2d animated clone wars series before seeing rots so I was well aware of who grievous was and even why he had such a bad cough and couldnt fight well. But for a fan or casual viewer who only watches the movies, grievous feels really out of place, poorly defined, and ultimately a character who's only purpose is to give obiwan someone to fight in the middle of the movie. Pretty jarring, if you ask me. Return of the jedi was also the third movie in a trilogy that served as the conclusion to a massive war and it sure as shit didn't need a cartoon to explain anything.

This movie was the least worse of all the prequels. It actually was pretty good. I admit Phantom was horrible, Attack was bad, but Revenge was actually decent. I think Star Wars just has fans that will never be satisfied. I'm bracing for a ton of hate here but the original trilogy had flaws okay? For instance you mean to tell me these guys built a gigantic killing planet and they totally didn't think about the fact that you could blow the damn thing up with one bomb through an exhaust port???? Not just that but they said hell the first one didn't work so let's build another gigantic fucking Death Star and make that one just as easy to destroy. It has flaws like every other movie because it's just that a movie. A great movie and a classic but it's a movie. Are the prequels as good as the originals? Never and they never will be but they aren't the worst movies ever made.
+Malcolm Reynolds Side note, the exhaust port would logically be pushing air/stuff out, so it wasn't unreasonable of them to assume a bomb would go directly against physics and just ignore the airflow and whatnot. The Death Star was destroyed by a magical space wizard... I'll admit the exhaust port could maybe have used a twist or a turn, just to avoid that sort of thing. The second Death Star is just stupid.
+Malcolm Reynolds Totally agreed. If you go on IMDB and look at the reviews for ep VII, loads of original trilogy elitists are giving it 1/10. I though it was actually really good, but I guess some people just have cognitive bias: nothing will ever be as good as the original trilogy -- because the fans won't allow it. Shame really; they were flawed movies, just like all other movies, and if ep VII was released a few years after VI, I bet they would love it...

Marshall Rojas ...do we love them? I feel more like we’ve just accepted them than anything. After TROS I’ve gone back and rewatched every Star Wars movie (starting at A new hope then finishing with the prequels) and ROTS was the only one of the prequels that I wasn’t frustrated out my ass by. They really are not good films. They’re certainly a lot of fun at times, Ewan McGregor is fantastic (especially in ROTS) and it’s neat to see the really intense lightsaber fights ect., (and Jesus Christ the fucking music is legitimately some of the finest in cinema history) but they’re inconsistent with the original trilogy, Anakin is literally an insufferable goth teenager, DEAR GOD Jar Jar in the phantom menace is actually unbearable- I could go on. I grew up on the prequels and they were my first introduction to Star Wars (I even remember liking Jar Jar as a kid) , so i guess I do love them in a way, but I will in no way say they’re decent films by any means. The sequel trilogy blows the prequels out of the water purely on entertainment value in my opinion. Frustrating, of course, but for the lost potential more than anything. The prequels are enjoyable in a kind of goofy comic book way, and are charming in their own deluded un-selfaware way. Jesus are they not good though.

Now, I know that the Jedi are complete idiots who cannot think for themselves and need the Force to smack them on the head about *everything*, but they specifically went on a rescue mission to recover the Supreme Chancellor - in two tiny one-man fighters! How were they planning to get him off of the Invisible Hand? Surely sticking him in an escape pod and firing it off in the middle of a huge space battle would have been a tad risky regardless?

There is actually a reason behind it. The swordplay of the jedi is heavily modeled after a specific real world martial art (that I forgot the name of). It prioritizes disarment, very litterally. It's meant to be able to incapacitate without killing, just as peacekeepers like the jedi would want to do

General Grievous is not a robot! The reason he coughs so much is because he is sorta like Darth Vader, he is a cyborg. He was once an alien warrior and was put in cyborg body. You would have noticed this when they showed he clearly has organic body parts within the suit (eyes, heart, and other organs) and they also state this in the film. I wouldn't have corrected you about it if you didn't constantly bring it up during your review!
Think of all the ports R2 connects to as USB ports, he has that sort of plug because that is the most common one same for why the bad guy ships have them.

What's funny is the prophecy is not misread,but misinterpreted. The Jedi out of arrogance assumed that the prophecy meant their side of the force wins.When in reality it was BALANCE to the force not winning. At the end of III we see balance two Jedi and two Sith. Anakin did bring balance to the force and at the end of VI the balance was destroyed. I always find it funny that people did not see that.

The opera scene between Sidious and Anakin was actually really interesting. It's the most backstory that we ever get of the evilest character in the movies, and it's still vague in such a way that makes it creepy. In the entire original trilogy, we don't learn much about the history of the Sith, not do we in this trilogy much either, but this gives us a peak into things.

And the action? I just saved 'em for the Dark Knight and Captain America: Winter Soldier, thank you very much.

And why do you think Palpatine is a regular guy? While he could have been more subtle, Palpatine is not directly saying to go to the Dark Side, he's just giving a benefit. He's also framing it like it's a legend he heard. Everything has faults, but people are too quick to blanketly say that every aspect of a mediocre thing is bad. There are good elements to the Prequels, some of them on par with the best moments of the originals, they are just outnumbered by a lot of disappointment.
+Mordalon Eh, I will give the scene props for expanding Star Wars lore in regards to the Sith, and it is comparatively better than virtually every scene in the prequels, but it still isn't that good. You saying "it wasn't perfect" and "it gave an interesting insight" implies you find that scene more good than bad. That scene is probably still 70-75% bad. It isn't in the slightest bit vague, with Palpatine smiling like a goofball while telling the story. It also just shows how cartoonishly stupid Anakin is. I mean, why would the Chancellor know a Sith story that apparently no one else has heard? Why would a Chancellor who is suspected by the council of possible treachery bring up a "benefit" of the dark side out of nowhere? And why is it EXACTLY what will help Anakin's current issue that no one is supposed to know about? These are things that would raise red flags for anyone that is in the least bit intelligent, of which Anakin is apparently not. Sure it isn't completely conclusive, there are convoluted and unlikely explanations one could probably create, but it is MORE then enough to report to the council, "I think Palpatine is probably a Sith Lord trying to manipulate me, at the very least he has knowledge of the Sith that isn't well-known." Then just attempt to bring him in for questioning. If he resists, too bad, since Anakin isn't going to massacre the Jedi in the next 10 minutes, they have more than enough manpower.

@@luisma2548 It was a pretty large battle (Over 1000 capital ships) at that scale you give up all tactics and just throw your forces at the enemy it is kinda like in WW1 where there were so many forces it would have been impossible to coordinate a strategy so they just threw their men at the enemy.

This was because the Republic ships werent all one cohesive fleet but instead where many separate fleets that had jumped into the system after the CIS attacked the planet to reinforce the courscant home fleet, who was getting torn to shreds.

Don't you trash Obi-Wan! Most underrated character in any movie ever. Taking out Darth Maul as a Padawan is impressive. He also took out Vader. My biggest problem with this movie is that Obi-Wan and Yoda should have gone after Palpatine after Obi-Wan took out Vader.
Well Obi-Wan had to get Padme to the hospital he knew she had babies and needed to get to Polis Massa. Yoda on the other hand admitted his defeat to Sideous. And they hid in Dagobah same reason why Luke was hiding in Episode 7 cause they were the only strongest Jedi left
Had Obi Wan gone after Sidious with him he would have only got in the way. Yoda is the pinnacle of the light side and Sidious the nexus of the dark side. That's why they could only fight to a draw. Plus Yoda was hoping that either Obi Wan could bring him back or finish him off, sadly he dis neither.
When Darth Maul killed Qui Gon Jinn, that amped Obi-Wan into a Force Rage, he was still no match for Darth Maul even though he was amped by a Force Rage, you can tell in this last moment between these 2 in The Phantom Menace that Darth Maul is stronger, the best Obi-Wan could do with his Force Rage was kick Darth Maul and snap his Light Saber, but Darth Maul countered many of Obi-Wan's Swings and even kicked him in the face and Force pushed him down the hole. The novelisation of The Phantom Menace also states that a Force Raged Obi-Wan was no match for Darth Maul. ''The battle wore on, and for a time it was fought evenly. But Darth Maul was the stronger of the two and was driven by a frenzy that surpassed even the frantic determination that fueled Obi-Wan. Eventually, the Sith Lord began to wear the young Jedi down. Bit by bit, he pressed him back, carrying the attack to him, looking to catch him off guard. Obi-Wan could sense his body weakening, and his fear of what it would mean if he, too, were to fall, began to grow.'' - Taken from The Phantom Menace Novelisation. And when Obi-Wan was Force pushed down a hole, Darth Maul had the chance to chance to quickly finish off Obi-Wan but he wasted time taunting him because he believed he already won, he wanted to finish Obi-Wan off slowly to ''savour his victory'' , if Obi Wan stayed in the hole slightly longer, Darth Maul would've finished him off by Force pushing him down the hole. Darth Maul only lost that duel because he was being cocky. But if you argue that Obi-Wan is a young Padawan and not a Jedi Knight or a Master, that can easily be debunked because Obi-Wan was ready to become a Jedi Knight and Darth Maul was the rank of a Sith Assassin during The Phantom Menace, basically a guard dog for the Sith, his Sith training was far from complete. And on top of all that, Darth Maul was 22 years old and Obi-Wan was 25 years old and ready to become a Jedi Knight.

Though, to be fair, any Astromech Droid can do the things R2 does. R2, and all the color swap versions of him, are merely the latest series of Astromech Droids. What most people *don't* know, however, is that most droids are meant to be memory wiped periodically, so that their personalities don't get too independent. R2 has never been memory wiped.
Shawnee Longbow R2 has actually been memory wiped at least twice in the franchise. However both times they didn't go far enough with the wipe. The first time he was memory wiped was when he was kidnapped by Cad Bane's crew to gain access to the information he had on the Republics battle strategies at the time. Bane simply had R2's memory of the encounter wiped. The second time was at the end of ROTS when he and 3PO had their memories of Anakin and the others wiped. Their personalities were kept however.
All correct, except R2's memory was not wiped in ROTS. Senator Organa orders 3PO's memory wiped, mostly because he talks too much and they didn't want him spilling things. R2 however remembers everything.
Sin: The Jedi are literally contributing to Anakin's turn to the dark side by asking him to lie to Palpatine and spy on him. In other movies Yoda has mentioned that lies and deceit are weapons of the dark side
Part of me wants to think that’s intentional to show that the Jedi have their own manipulative tactics that aren’t as blatant or used as often as the Sith. The other part knows we’re dealing with George Lucas

The repulic is supposed to escort the Jedi into the enemy ship, whilst the CIS know about the Jedi, and are distracting the clones so that grievous can take just the Jedi. 8: technically flying is for droids, considering how many ships have droid pilots and/ or droid co-pilots, who can normally fly the ship on their own. 9:That would be a cluster bomb that would just have a large explosion. 10: he is telling obi wan because his cockpit is fogged and he can’t see. 11: it’s a running joke, whilst at the same time expressing how Jedi can feel the future, he “feels” that it is a trap. Which, eventually, it is. 12: the droid battles are necessary as it wouldn’t make sense for the general to know the Jedi are coming, and not put security on the hangar bays. 13: they have to be “r2 compatible” as the cis also uses Astromech droids And droids that feature similar slicing mechanisms. 14: he’s a cyborg that has his lungs damaged in a fight with windu. 15: the droidekas were sent from an area that required a front end approach. 16: the general wants to capture/torture the Jedi for information. 17: same point as 16. 18: that was intentional. 19:obi wan had a taste of sarcasm to it, which was meant to show the viewer how calm Jedi are in tense situations. 20: you sinned the same thing twice, and, obi was the first to defeat a sith in thousands of years. 21: I don’t get the joke, but it probably wasn’t worth a sin. 22: Anikan is cocky and arrogant, this type of statement is normal. 23: they distracted obi wan whilst ani and dooku were dueling. 24: the noise was an exclamation, at how ani was beating dooku, and palpatine was eyeing up ani as his new apprentice. 25: it doesn’t. He’s unconscious. 26: this is the start of ani’s true fall to the dark side, executing an unarmed prisoner. 27: unnecessary sin. 28: he was making anikan feel guilty. 29: wilhelm screams are aren’t worth sinning. 30: they are taking out the cannons and artillery on the ship. 31: the Jedi can use the force to negate the g-force that would have potentially made one of them pass out right there. 32:he had to wait for the timing where they were inside the area of the ray shield. 33: what does that have to do with anything right now? 34: he was a warlord that was cast for the job by dooku, and had his alien parts replaced by robot ones. 35: you mean, expensive as hell IG-100 manga guards. 36:didn’t you hear them say grievous launches all the escape pods? 37: that doesn’t even add up to 69. 38: the ships were called in by kenobi. 39: 10 miles? I’ve always wondered about that rescue mission myself - there were many situations where Palpatine could’ve died or been gravely hurt, just because he didn’t want to reveal himself to anyone. I get he can probably control a lot without even Jedi masters sensing it, but what if the ship crashes too hard or explodes or the swing from the elevator shaft misses - at some point he would’ve had to openly use his powers to survive.

Okay so. Episode 1: Obi faced and killed Maul. Yoda says there are always 2 Sith. Episode 2: Dooku beats both of them. Episode 3: "Sith lord is our specialty" while facing Dooku, indicating there was no other sith lord. Beside him and Sidious. If you just take the movies themselves, then this does not make sense at all. And you are left to wonder what other Sith lords did they fight.
What about showing Palpatine saying "Amidala our recently *elected* queen" in the Phantom sins movie and then continue to rant in 3 separate videos about not understanding how she went from queen to senator and not understanding Naboo's politics. They show it in their own video damn it :p
Much better than the other two prequels, but the dialogue between Padme and Anakin still is poor and Vader's 'Noooooo' elicited laughs in the cinema the three times I saw it.

people act like grievous came out of nowhere in this movie but there was a clone wars show made before this in 2003 that had grievous in it.
You shouldn’t have to watch other media to understand a movie.

By this point in the timeline, you kind of need that extra media to have a full grasp of the situation. It would be a bigger sin to have all the characters act like everything is new information to them, given they're all Generals at this point.
Also a few of the sins, like Palpatine risking himself in the crashing ship, kind of show how nit-picking this list was. "Behind-the-scenes control?" of course it was, the entire franchise is pretty much based on Palpatine behind-the-scenes'ing everything.

If you need to watch a cartoon series to understand a character and actually get some cool stuff out of them, then that's a failure on the movie's part. I watched the 2d animated clone wars series before seeing rots so I was well aware of who grievous was and even why he had such a bad cough and couldnt fight well. But for a fan or casual viewer who only watches the movies, grievous feels really out of place, poorly defined, and ultimately a character who's only purpose is to give obiwan someone to fight in the middle of the movie. Pretty jarring, if you ask me. Return of the jedi was also the third movie in a trilogy that served as the conclusion to a massive war and it sure as shit didn't need a cartoon to explain anything.

This movie was the least worse of all the prequels. It actually was pretty good. I admit Phantom was horrible, Attack was bad, but Revenge was actually decent. I think Star Wars just has fans that will never be satisfied. I'm bracing for a ton of hate here but the original trilogy had flaws okay? For instance you mean to tell me these guys built a gigantic killing planet and they totally didn't think about the fact that you could blow the damn thing up with one bomb through an exhaust port???? Not just that but they said hell the first one didn't work so let's build another gigantic fucking Death Star and make that one just as easy to destroy. It has flaws like every other movie because it's just that a movie. A great movie and a classic but it's a movie. Are the prequels as good as the originals? Never and they never will be but they aren't the worst movies ever made.

Marshall Rojas ...do we love them? I feel more like we’ve just accepted them than anything. After TROS I’ve gone back and rewatched every Star Wars movie (starting at A new hope then finishing with the prequels) and ROTS was the only one of the prequels that I wasn’t frustrated out my ass by. They really are not good films. They’re certainly a lot of fun at times, Ewan McGregor is fantastic (especially in ROTS) and it’s neat to see the really intense lightsaber fights ect., (and Jesus Christ the fucking music is legitimately some of the finest in cinema history) but they’re inconsistent with the original trilogy, Anakin is literally an insufferable goth teenager, DEAR GOD Jar Jar in the phantom menace is actually unbearable- I could go on. I grew up on the prequels and they were my first introduction to Star Wars (I even remember liking Jar Jar as a kid) , so i guess I do love them in a way, but I will in no way say they’re decent films by any means. The sequel trilogy blows the prequels out of the water purely on entertainment value in my opinion. Frustrating, of course, but for the lost potential more than anything. The prequels are enjoyable in a kind of goofy comic book way, and are charming in their own deluded un-selfaware way. Jesus are they not good though.

There is actually a reason behind it. The swordplay of the jedi is heavily modeled after a specific real world martial art (that I forgot the name of). It prioritizes disarment, very litterally. It's meant to be able to incapacitate without killing, just as peacekeepers like the jedi would want to do

General Grievous is not a robot! The reason he coughs so much is because he is sorta like Darth Vader, he is a cyborg. He was once an alien warrior and was put in cyborg body. You would have noticed this when they showed he clearly has organic body parts within the suit (eyes, heart, and other organs) and they also state this in the film.

The opera scene between Sidious and Anakin was actually really interesting. It's the most backstory that we ever get of the evilest character in the movies, and it's still vague in such a way that makes it creepy. In the entire original trilogy, we don't learn much about the history of the Sith, not do we in this trilogy much either, but this gives us a peak into things.

I didn't say it was a perfect scene, what I said was that it gave an interesting insight into a character and side of the lore that we didn't get much during the other films. And why do you think Palpatine is a regular guy? While he could have been more subtle, Palpatine is not directly saying to go to the Dark Side, he's just giving a benefit. He's also framing it like it's a legend he heard. Everything has faults, but people are too quick to blanketly say that every aspect of a mediocre thing is bad. There are good elements to the Prequels, some of them on par with the best moments of the originals, they are just outnumbered by a lot of disappointment.
+Mordalon Eh, I will give the scene props for expanding Star Wars lore in regards to the Sith, and it is comparatively better than virtually every scene in the prequels, but it still isn't that good. You saying "it wasn't perfect" and "it gave an interesting insight" implies you find that scene more good than bad. That scene is probably still 70-75% bad. It isn't in the slightest bit vague, with Palpatine smiling like a goofball while telling the story. It also just shows how cartoonishly stupid Anakin is.
I mean, why would the Chancellor know a Sith story that apparently no one else has heard? Why would a Chancellor who is suspected by the council of possible treachery bring up a "benefit" of the dark side out of nowhere? And why is it EXACTLY what will help Anakin's current issue that no one is supposed to know about? These are things that would raise red flags for anyone that is in the least bit intelligent, of which Anakin is apparently not.
Sure it isn't completely conclusive, there are convoluted and unlikely explanations one could probably create, but it is MORE then enough to report to the council, "I think Palpatine is probably a Sith Lord trying to manipulate me, at the very least he has knowledge of the Sith that isn't well-known." Then just attempt to bring him in for questioning. If he resists, too bad, since Anakin isn't going to massacre the Jedi in the next 10 minutes, they have more than enough manpower.

This was because the Republic ships werent all one cohesive fleet but instead where many separate fleets that had jumped into the system after the CIS attacked the planet to reinforce the courscant home fleet, who was getting torn to shreds.

Taking out Darth Maul as a Padawan is impressive. He also took out Vader.
My biggest problem with this movie is that Obi-Wan and Yoda should have gone after Palpatine after Obi-Wan took out Vader.
Well Obi-Wan had to get Padme to the hospital he knew she had babies and needed to get to Polis Massa. Yoda on the other hand admitted his defeat to Sideous. And they hid in Dagobah same reason why Luke was hiding in Episode 7 cause they were the only strongest Jedi left
Had Obi Wan gone after Sidious with him he would have only got in the way. Yoda is the pinnacle of the light side and Sidious the nexus of the dark side. That's why they could only fight to a draw. Plus Yoda was hoping that either Obi Wan could bring him back or finish him off, sadly he dis neither.
When Darth Maul killed Qui Gon Jinn, that amped Obi-Wan into a Force Rage, he was still no match for Darth Maul even though he was amped by a Force Rage, you can tell in this last moment between these 2 in The Phantom Menace that Darth Maul is stronger, the best Obi-Wan could do with his Force Rage was kick Darth Maul and snap his Light Saber, but Darth Maul countered many of Obi-Wan's Swings and even kicked him in the face and Force pushed him down the hole. The novelisation of The Phantom Menace also states that a Force Raged Obi-Wan was no match for Darth Maul.
''The battle wore on, and for a time it was fought evenly. But Darth Maul was the stronger of the two and was driven by a frenzy that surpassed even the frantic determination that fueled Obi-Wan. Eventually, the Sith Lord began to wear the young Jedi down. Bit by bit, he pressed him back, carrying the attack to him, looking to catch him off guard. Obi-Wan could sense his body weakening, and his fear of what it would mean if he, too, were to fall, began to grow.'' - Taken from The Phantom Menace Novelisation.
And when Obi-Wan was Force pushed down a hole, Darth Maul had the chance to chance to quickly finish off Obi-Wan but he wasted time taunting him because he believed he already won, he wanted to finish Obi-Wan off slowly to ''savour his victory'' , if Obi Wan stayed in the hole slightly longer, Darth Maul would've finished him off by Force pushing him down the hole. Darth Maul only lost that duel because he was being cocky. But if you argue that Obi-Wan is a young Padawan and not a Jedi Knight or a Master, that can easily be debunked because Obi-Wan was ready to become a Jedi Knight and Darth Maul was the rank of a Sith Assassin during The Phantom Menace, basically a guard dog for the Sith, his Sith training was far from complete. And on top of all that, Darth Maul was 22 years old and Obi-Wan was 25 years old and ready to become a Jedi Knight.

What most people *don't* know, however, is that most droids are meant to be memory wiped periodically, so that their personalities don't get too independent. R2 has never been memory wiped.
Shawnee Longbow R2 has actually been memory wiped at least twice in the franchise. However both times they didn't go far enough with the wipe. The first time he was memory wiped was when he was kidnapped by Cad Bane's crew to gain access to the information he had on the Republics battle strategies at the time. Bane simply had R2's memory of the encounter wiped. The second time was at the end of ROTS when he and 3PO had their memories of Anakin and the others wiped. Their personalities were kept however.
All correct, except R2's memory was not wiped in ROTS. Senator Organa orders 3PO's memory wiped, mostly because he talks too much and they didn't want him spilling things. R2 however remembers everything.

I’ve always wondered about that rescue mission myself - there were many situations where Palpatine could’ve died or been gravely hurt, just because he didn’t want to reveal himself to anyone.
I get he can probably control a lot without even Jedi masters sensing it, but what if the ship crashes too hard or explodes or the swing from the elevator shaft misses - at some point he would’ve had to openly use his powers to survive.

Yoda says there are always 2 Sith.
Episode 2: Dooku beats both of them.

If you just take the movies themselves, then this does not make sense at all. And you are left to wonder what other Sith lords did they fight.
