- UPDATE: within a few weeks it quit working again, so I took it out and got a rubber stopper that laid over top of the drain l, much easier! Original Description: once I cleaned all the hair out by pulling it up with my screwdriver my top drains fine now. So I am using the spring loaded stopper again.
Exactly what I needed. Couldnt find out how to assess a clogged drain on a Koehler toe push drain. This is the only video that addresses this style. Saved me a plumber visit!!! The amount of goop in the drain was unimaginable. works like a charm now. THANK YOU!
I was not prepared for the goop followup step. *shudders*
Glad it helped
I was hesitant about wacking the top of the screw and thought it would make it more difficult to remove. But after trying every thing else, I figured what the hell. I think I hit it out of anger and frustration and it loosened right up. Thanks for the tips.
Awesome! Glad to hear! I learned that working at a marina. The boss taught me whenever you have a stuck bolt set up a vibration with a hammer. Usually after spraying WD-40 or penetrating oil on it works quite often
Thanks so much! This tip fixed the stuck plug so we could actually clean it out. I couldn't seem to hit it hard enough but I showed my bf this video and he got it in a couple minutes with a hammer and a flathead screwdriver.
You're welcome! So glad to hear!
That was VERY helpful, because the middle was stuck. Thank you!
Awesome glad to hear!
I have this kind and it is the slowest drain in America. I was shocked when you took that screw part out to see that tiny little hole. No wonder the water will not drain.
This helped me a ton. Thank you
I had to break the white plastic sleeve off piece by piece by lifting it up and pulling it back until they snapped with a channel lock and then I was able to unscrew the brass fitting from the side with the channel lock.
Thanks for sharing that tip
I'm having the same problem. How did you break the white plastic sleeve off?
The problem is my screw is plastic, and Phillips. And stuck. A metal screwdriver is too small at the blade, and the more I turn it, the more it strips. So unbelievablely frustrating.
Same is happening with mine, I ended up stripping the metal piece.
What did you end up doing? A comment above said he broke off the plastic. Perhaps you could do that and grab it with pliers to turn it?
One thing I've done to unscrew stripped phillips screws (was taking cabinet doors off to paint them) is to take a Multitool and put in a new notch that will fit the screwdriver, then unscrew with a flathead bit.
