I'm learning caprice 5 right now without the original bowing, and it is the first Paganini caprice I've ever played. Great video! Hopefully I will get to playing some of the higher-tiered caprices in the future. I loved your other videos on the caprices as well, especially the recordings you've made with the overhead angle. Keep it up!
For me, caprice #16 is the easiest. For that caprice, a teacher suggested that I take the repeat with reversed bowing (slur the last two notes before the repeat), which makes the string crossings harder.
Before you drop the technique talk on #7: I somehow found #7 to be the easiest (even than 13 and 16!) even though many of my friends think it's among the hardest ones. I feel like it's really nothing after completing Wieniawski's 1st concerto... was sightreadable for me with few mistakes. 3 on the other hand is a lot harder for me, which is why my teacher asked me to drop #3 and pick up #7 :(
i love to see these kind of 'how to study paganini' even knowing i will never be able to play them because i started late on the violin, with 32 years old 🤣
Me: Expect to hear some funny comments about caprice 1, 2, 3 and 4 seperately. Sean (Smiling): They are total BeaSTs. Me: Well that is concise.... but extremely accurate.
Great ideas n suggestions

I think that caprice 13 is the easiest.
