What's your favorite caprice? Also, I made a mistake...It doesn’t show on the calendar the days being marked down, but I started recording on January 24th Sunday, and day 7 was on January 30th Saturday! I’ll make sure that’s fixed in the next video! Timestamps: 00.00 Intro + Day 1 06.21 Day 2 07.33 Day 3 13.45 Day 4 14.48 Day 5 17.14 Day 6 21.39 Day 7
This is such a brave project to take on! I hope you can record all 24. Thanks for playing slowly at this camera angle/distance. All of us "hacks" can finally see what's going on in this caprice. I think you might be THE FIRST to ever break down Paganini like this on youtube.
Thanks for your sweet comment! Really brightened up my day :D If you have any requests for camera angles for future Caprices (in advance before filmed, now we are going into week 8) please let me know and I'll try to make it happen! This project is something which I hope can become more informative and useful to others :)
Wow this is such an excellent idea Mimi!! Keeping my fingers crossed that you manage to learn all of the caprices 🤞🤓 I've been thinking of keeping record of my practicing in a video form as well... still building up the courage though😅 I enjoyed the video very much, looking forward to the next one 🥰
I just started on the second caprice yesterday, but that’s one I know pretty well, so it’ll be a different kind of progress I guess :D You should definitely just go for it! It’s kind of scary at first, knowing that it’ll be online but I think it can adds to the encouraging atmosphere :3 Miss you tons!!!
Wow! Well done! That's really amazing progress in a week or 10 hours! Bravo for all the courage! Am waiting for the next video, thanks for great content!
Fantastic video Mimi! I’ve always wanted to try this Caprice - now I will have a go thanks to your useful video. I have around 8 audio versions of the Caprices by different violinists - I always compare no. 1 and 24 between the artists - I still like the version by Schlmo Mintz the best - on original cassette tape!
Thank you for stopping by! I’m glad you enjoyed it :) I hope you have a great time with the Caprice, and it’s amazing to hear about your experiences with comparing different violinists! There’s always so much to learn 🥳
Thank you for watching! Practicing scales for many years built a sturdy foundation on which I could rely on to learn all of the pieces. Scales are great 🎉
You're very sweet! The thing is, most of these Caprices, I've grown up listening to them, so in a way, they're a bit in my head already :) With a piece I've never heard before, I'll struggle more through the reading :P
I do love my violin a lot, it's my beloved companion :D Paganini Caprice No. 1, I've heard many times in my life before (definitely more than 200 times probably) but never formally studied it. I find it much easier to play things if I've heard them before, and I have tried to play it through very badly many years ago. So perhaps, you're right, it's not my very first time playing it though, but it did feel very foreign and new while I tried to read it for this video. I hope that clarifies things a bit! :) Edit: Also, I have a hobby of sightreading pieces quite often, so I've learned over time how to read better :D

Thank you for watching 🤩🤩🤩
I m expecting more video's, may be you've online courses!
What type of content would be most helpful for you?
@@doremeems I'm interested by efficiency when practicing, methodology
I really love your sounding 💛 ❤️ 💕
👏👏👏👏I love you Mimi 🥰🥰
Haha thanks uncle! Hope you're doing alright :)
You inspire me! Keep it going 💪🏼
Thanks Pablo!!! 🤩
you are awesome !! did practicing scales helped you a lot in learning this caprice ?
Thank you for watching!
Practicing scales for many years built a sturdy foundation on which I could rely on to learn all of the pieces. Scales are great 🎉
I played the Liszt transcription many years back and the thirds were a similar challenge on piano but probably much easier than for violin
!
Oh that’s amazing!!! I love transcriptions, they bring lots of pieces to life in a different way which can be refreshing 🤩
wow...I wish I can play like you even though it's your first time on this caprice.

I don't think my hands will ever relaxed enough to play thirds like that ;_;
I’m sure you’ll get there!!! With thirds, I’ve noticed that making sure the left thumb is in the right place really makes a difference :D
This is helpful.
Glad you found it useful 🤗
Great process!
Thanks for watching!!
played this on 1.5x speed, sounds pretty good!
Ahahaha that must have sounded funny 😆 thanks for watching!
Hey, was wondering if at 20:56 after sol# mi you considered starting with the second finger already holding/prepared a# for the third run?
I have considered it but somehow it wasn’t very comfortable for my hand. Cheers!
May I ask which violin you own !
I’m using a cut-down (from viola 🤪) Lupot!
You have great violin. It helps a lot to produce this kind of quality. I'm not sure it was sight reeding
I do love my violin a lot, it's my beloved companion :D

@@doremeems this capricio is priceless, it helps a lot with both hands. I'm quite jealous how effortless you have reached high positions. )
Ohhh don't be jealous
It is not a problem for me either) I played A Lot of Schefchik exercises, and Flash scales. Time to practice 🎻🎼❤️
Nice!!!! Happy practicing~~~
❤️❤️❤️
This is hard
It’s also very fun :)
