Mechanical pencils came out and 2021?!
Whoa! I must be younger than I thought😅
The concept of a mechanical pencil dates back to the late 16th century, but the modern mechanical pencil we know today was patented in 1822 by Sampson Mordan and John Isaac Hawkins in Britain.

I had clutch pencils in the late seventies and throughout the eighties so I'm quite sure they did not hit the scene only in 2021

Same. I have my expensive mechanical pencil from 2016, before that I used cheap ones.

That's not why pencils were painted yellow. They used to be not painted at all so customers could make sure the wood was decent quality. But then koh I noor who was one of the top brands painted a line of pencils yellow they were so bad ass that everyone copied them and to this day most pencils are still painted yellow

A lot of the images are misleading, showing modern models while the subs talk about ancient varieties. Came here for visual info about older designs, got none.

Hmm…I like the concept of the video but some of the info panels within the videos are worded strangely or give poorly thought out “facts” like that the pencil “helped communication of Americans”. That is strange because it is already self evident that any writing utensils can help communication in some way whether it is a pencil or not.
