I really love the way you create Videos so much! It’s so calm, interesting and really nice to watch. I am looking forward to your tour, you seem good prepared and hope that it brings you an enjoyable time outside with your bike. I am so happy, that Wiebke recommended your account, otherwise I wouldn’t see your videos.
Thanks a lot! I think I didn’t forget anything crucial! Im very excitedly checking the forecast everyday to see when the first snow will arrive here in the south. Wiebke is a superstar! So excited to follow her trip through Africa too. ☺️
You've been half way around the world with Tristan and most bikepacking skills are transferable to winter in my experience. With the set up you showed us I'm sure you'll be fine.
Mostly scared about the cold but I’ve never had as much warmth as 2 sleeping bags before so it should be OK! Good that I tested the stove before because my my… that was quite intense! Ahaha. Luckily no trees around. 😁
Don't go too far from your home base if this'll be your first time out in the cold. I would get some chemical hand warmers (2) and a sleeping bag liner (a little bit of extra bulk). It takes some experience to know how well you can tolerate cold-weather camping. Even pitching your tent in your backyard the first time would be a good first start. Good luck and I look forward to seeing your next video(s). From 🇨🇦
Totally! I need to drive a couple hours into the mountains, where I'll be able to find snow, but I'll definitely inform someone at the nearest village of what I'm up to-just in case! The ride will be short and I won't go too far. Thanks for the tips! The chemical had warmer sounds ideal! I do own a liner but I thought that carrying 2 sleeping bags would work better? I'm struggling to fit anything else in the bags at the moment. =)
One tip for shooting in cold conditions: put spare batteries in pockets inside your jacket. It'll prevent them from losing charge in sub-0 temperatures. Also makes sense to put them in your sleeping bag for a night.
Go for it Belle! Wishing you great and safe adventure. Curious as to where you are heading... It could be worth considering fenders as conditions will be mostly wet. Best wishes!
Good for you Belén! I love that you are pushing yourself still out of your comfort zone by taking on winter camping and the skills you don't usually do like cooking and bike repair. I think you are right to overpack. That way, you can keep flexibility and as you gain experience, you will know what ie essential for YOU! As I gained experience bike commuting, I was able to figure out what clothing was best for which temperatures. Love the artistry of this film and look forward to watching the new adventure! It is so helpful to see what and how you pack! That can be a challenge when you don't have a buddy to shar the load, but I have no doubt that you are up to the challenge with your obvious skills
Honestly... We should! The only reason is that we put our bikes through very gnarly terrain with a lot of flying rocks (usually) so the kickstand wouldn't last long. Maybe I should consider something that can go on/off easily to use on the chiller trips and take it off on the other ones!
Hello Belle, thank you for the detailed description of your equipment. The bike is also very nice, Pinion really is one of the technically most improved gearboxes. I hope you don't get cold, I had several times during sleepovers when I had to put on my down jacket in the middle of the night. Are you sure the oven is suitable for use with the cartridge upside down? Normally, stoves for this purpose have a small preheating pipe in which the liquid gas is gasified before it reaches the burner... I wish you all the best for your trip and look forward to the sequel :-) Have a wonderful Christmas time and a happy new year!
Hi Dirk! Thank you for your tips! I wonder about the gas canister. Naturally, it wants to fit up side down on the stove cable but I'll take another look at that cause I could be doing it wrong! =) I imagine the night will be very cold regardless of what I carry with me, hahaha. Have a wonderful Christmas too!
Hi there! I used the Johnny Watts from Schwalbe 29"x 2.35". Has been the perfect all-around adventure tires for me and they also had a good grip on snow!

I love the mood of the story!
Cycling in the snow is a completely different story :)
Some day we’ll get our stuff out of the boxes and slide them in our drawers 😌
Nice video, editing super good and i line the steady pace and informative

Absolutely fantastic video
Great value video! Well done and good trip!

Will do that! I think the batteries will make it to the next morning, but will I? Hahahahaha
Well filmed

Uhh... Hadn't thought about fenders! It'll only be a weekend out, but I'm still waiting for snow to arrive here in Spain! Thanks for the tip. =)

Thanks for your comment! Very excited (and nervous) for the snow to finally arrive. =)
Ahora solo falta que nieve! 😂😂
¡A ver! ¡Igual hasta febrero nada!
Beautiful editing ! We were just wondering why you don't use a kickstand ? Make life so much easier XD Greetings from Australia!

Well shot and edited video, a winter adventure here in Norway is kind of complicated 😅🥶 cheers! Felices fiestas 🎄
I can imagine! Cycling in the Norwegian winter in another level, hahaha. Must be beautiful though. =)
