In this episode of Rimworld Royalty, we continue our Naked Brutality run in the extreme desert. With Steak now holding the title of Knight, our colony is flourishing: Our guest Synadenos is happy, the producton of flake is bringing money in and the colony is even growing! A herd of man-hunting Yaks and a group of man-hunting Iguanas attempt to make life miserable for us, but the combined stopping power of our colonists quickly deals with the animals. Synadenos also leaves the desert satisfied and Redhawk receives her first royal rank. Steak then embarks on a trade journey to strike his first deal with the Empire, which allows us to build the fabrication bench and finally make our own components.

The Extreme Desert is Rimworld’s hottest biome. Full of sand and dirt, the extreme desert does not offer a lot of room for plants and animals, so food is scarce and whatever is acquired will spoil quickly. The heat also poses a constant threat for colonists, always putting them at risk of suffering a heatstroke. Tribes and more advanced civilizations also tend to stay in the more moderate regions, so finding other settlements to trade with (or to attack) is not so easy.
We are starting with a modified Rimworld Naked Brutality scenario, leaving our starting colonist with no food, items or equipment to start his journey in the extreme desert - not even clothes. We are also making our starting colonist a member of a tribe, reducing the amount of technologies available at the start of the game and severely lowering the speed with which new projects are unlocked.
The goal of this Rimworld Royalty Extreme Desert Challenge is to start with absolutely nothing in the extreme desert with a single tribal colonist and survive for as long as possible - ideally until we are able to escape the planet. With the Rimworld Royalty DLC, we also see the introduction of a mighty empire with access to hyper-advanced technology who might occasionally seek us out to aid in certain quests - and who might award us royal titles and exciting psychic powers in exchange.
Rimworld is a Sci-Fi colony builder simulation game focused on managing a small group of survivors with the goal of eventually building a space ship to escape the planet. Rimworld is developed and published by Ludeon Studios. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, the game went through several Alpha and Beta versions before seeing the release of the Rimworld 1.0 version in October 2018. With the Rimworld 1.1 update and the Rimworld Royalty DLC, a lot of new content has been added to the game, including a mighty empire, new weapons and items, a quest system and much more.
All Rimworld Royalty gameplay for this Rimworld Royalty Extreme Desert Challenge was recorded on the PC in 1440p.

The Beacons are lit, the Yaks call for aid... and the Iguanas will answer!
reminds me of the "cows with guns" pre-meme
Yes, so much yes!!
This one didn't go so well though
It's one of those moments where you go, "And if I had accepted the quest to fight 50 pirates, would the animals have even showed up?"
The itsy bitsy cavalry arrived from Gondor!

Polyanna : "Please no"

The yacks being back up by a army of iguanas was hilarious
For an extreme desert there sure are a lot of man hunting animals roaming through it.
This game has such hilarious events happen, and seeing a roving band of viscous yaks allied with iguanas made me laugh way too hard. The commentary and gameplay of Pete also makes it an extremely entertaining video to watch.
I think that is part of the attraction of Randy as the storyteller, I don't think you could get that scenario using Cassandra?
I found the inspiration surgery and the no political negative refugees coming at the same time is even funnier. It is almost as if Randy is wanting him to rip an organ out of them.
Yaks "We weren't expecting Special Forces..."
Iguanas "That's the point sergeant"
"Nobody expects the Spanish Iguanas!"
Imagine if Pete had use the Aerodrone strike or the antigrain warhead.
Vietnam war all over again !

And then Edmo be like: Grab a duster! It's a tradition!
I like to imagine that Synodanus is just a good friend of the Steakhouse, rather than some entitled member of the kingdom
I kinda imagine her as Effie Trinket from the Hunger Games, at first The Steakhouse is just a slum to her and the people are barbaric but over time she is starting to come around.
Head cannon: That's why they threw a party. They all genuinely like her, and she them. They wanted to celebrate spending time and even fighting alongside her.
Maybe at one point she will even join as a refugee, or maybe she will be taken hostage by pirates and the steakhouse is sent for the rescue :)
@@mikejansen9344 if this happen, the call will be heard and the revenge will be sweet! 😉

19:50 Ah yes, the greatest warcrime of them all: Eating without a Table. A true Rimworld classic
eating without a table is shit though, I'd say it fits the mood malus of -3
The visitors partially losing to the yaks almost feels like the australian army losing to Emus
@Chris Clifford there should be a Emu invasion event in rimworld
They were good training for WW2 entrenched Japanese ground forces. Emus won against us on our own soil, Japanese lost against us.
Visitors: We have guns. We have nothing to worry about!
Yaks: exist
Visitors: OMGF WHY!?! HOW!?!
I for one am grateful for our Emu overlords. Their victory over us was a truly glorious turning point in the history of our nation. Mankind must know its place as subordinate to the Emu race, only then can peace and prosperity flourish 🇦🇺💜
The tourists probly didn't have any yak vests, just like the ozzies ran out of emunition...
take the refuges in and use them on the front lines for the prisoner quest.
This is a genius idea.
Meat shields!
That is incredibly cruel and exactly what should be done!
I whole heartedly second this, although should they turn on the colony he's in big trouble.
I came here to suggest this. I agree!
Callous. I love it! 8D
The pan from the Steakhousees utterly destroying the yaks, to the traders getting absolutely slaughtered, honestly Tarantino worthy
Jake: loses toe
Edmo: You know what they say: "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth."
Redhawk just needed to rub their necks with aloe vera, they were fine.
Ahhh yes the law of Hammurabi.....fair is fair i guess. :P
In this case, Lex Talionis would be "A black eye for a black eye, a toe for a toe" ;)
This engagement comment is dedicated to the lost toes of the rimworld
Though they are lost, they are not forgotten. May they walk on cooler sands.
Wow what an engaged viewer, this video should be recommended to more people!
I love how you narrate these like a documentary
That is my favourite feature of this channel. I've said since day 1 that Pete sounds like he quit the discovery channel in order to do more interesting projects
Classic rimworld:
"I have just finished the blueprints for a component assembler, I'll be tricky to make, but well worth it!"
"Fantastic news!"
"What should I research next?"
"How do you make floor wool?"
"Floor wool?"
"Yea like a shirt for the floor"
"On it, sir"
"We need to make the rocks smaller and more rectangular."
"You mean bricks?"
"Yes, invent bricks."

I hope your child is as calm as you ngl
Hey Pete! Just a heads-up, the poker table needs to have chairs around it for your pawns to be able to use it. Great video as always, keep up the great work!
I say take both of the quests and try and pit the refugees against the raiders, regardless of their intentions. Try to get the walls finished before then through for some extra security, maybe even set up small dorms outside the main base for the refugees so they can’t immediately attack you
redhawk: you know how good i am at patching you up. so the question is: do you wanna join us, or do i need to make a collection jar for missing toes?

Nooooo, the hoopstone ring, now that it's gone the stone door to storage is the last thing left over from before a base was even built by Steak.
Ahh, I love that fan art, what a fantastic couple of illustrations

Looking at that goose's expression in the first piece of fan art: "Peace was never an option"
I was today years old when I realized that Poker and Billiards tables are direct upgrades.
Honestly same
with over 600 hours in the game i just learned this as well
I like to keep the hoop games scattered around the outside of my base in case colonists working far from the base decided they need to do some recreation they don't have to trek miles to the main base.
That said the higher recreation speed and being in a nicer environment is great for colonists prone to mood breaks. So you've got a few options for how you might want to use them.
I don't think they're strict upgrades unless you can afford to spam them all over the map, in which case you're probably already super wealthy and likely have a bunch of other quality of life enhancements that do the job well enough.
that fanart showing the true duality of man.
Tofu is the real MVP of this series with their artwork!
I'd take both quests and when all hell breaks loose, pop the ancient danger and run inside the killbox.
Also, I love Tofu's art, but that utterly bored expression on Syno's face in Tony's art was chef's-kiss-perfect!
I was kinda nervous when one of the labs decided to walk straight into the pile of burning yaks, ngl
Damn, nice job to Tofu and Tony! Quality of artwork is great.
Just as I was thinking about the series I refresh my feed and the next episode pops up!
Troy's fanart in the end is both beautiful and hilarious. That goose!
"Hey, you know your other fingers?"

From what I've seen, and after you take refugees, if the quest shows a date they are leaving, you can trust them. If there is no scheduled departure, they will betray you. Regardless, you can use them as canon fodder against the pirates.
Wait is this true, because that makes them both much easier and kinda broken. I do feel like I’ve been betrayed by refugees that had a set date they were leaving by.
Great fanart from the artists! Really rounds out the endings of the videos
Toes for the toe god.
Take the raid quest.
More toes for the toe god.
"BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! TOES FOR THE THRONE OF STEEEAAAAK!!" X)
That Synadenos fanart is amazing as always from Tofu...
*It is a lovely day in the Steakhouse, and you are a horrible goose.*
Regarding the blood rot quest: "Risk it for the biscuit, babyyyyyy"
The overwhelming support for taking the quest and facing down 54 pirates with a vanguard of seven imperials and a band of hobos amazes me. I vote go for it.
Let's forget about min maxing how rewarding a quest would be for a second. Steak of the Steakhouse is rising up through the nobility ranks, and his wife Redhawk needs to earn recognition as well. There's no way the Steakhouse would back away from a challenge when Redhawk can earn some honor. Let those pirates come and feel the wrath of the Steakhouse!
I find Steak's acceptable to eat food that outgrew knights might find "beneath them" interesting. Maybe the early days of having to eat animal food humbled him
2 maneater packs, a trade caravan, and that quest with the raiders and troopers would've been a crazy epic battle.
Take the raid quest! All that loot could be a game changer and you can take em, Pete!
Excellent timing!! Been playing a lot of rimworld lately and definitely learning a lot from this series!!
I suggest one of 2 approaches for the next episode. Either deny both of the quests or accept the refugees and use them as the frontline to fend off the pirates. They can't betray you if they're dead! Another great episode btw. This series makes me far more excited than it rightfully should!
Yes, the walls are finally going up! I've been waiting for this
Alistair seems like a guy to contribute to the colony by solving complex problems with simple solutions.
I feel sorry about that hoopstone ring who stayed there since the very beginning and saw the entire colony's history building up in front of it.
Personally, the refugee quest is risky. Of the 5 times i took it in a playthrough i got betrayed all but once. If they do betray you, it might happen at a random time, making it hard to prepare
I usually put sleeping spots in remote area for the visitors and take away all their weapons. When they turn on you, they're usually easy to control when unarmed and far away from the base.
I've had it happen once out of like 8 times
Interesting, I've took that quest probably 8 or 9 times and never been betrayed once
that's why you have to be proactive and betray them first! Or use them as meatshields in combat
you can make them drop weapons, so they are not an issue even if they betray
Those artworks are amazing! Especially the second one, it was so fitting 😂 "Blast some yaks, you say? I suppose I can partake, if I have to.."
Nice episod Pete ... Again !! You should take the pirate quest. Set up some trape before. The 7 soldiers and asking for reinforcement should be enough. Leave the travelers alone ... It's just a load of trouble.
This is a positive comment for the RUclips algorithm
4:50 "i started using it and i want things to look consistent throughout the base"
my man, you understand me
The goose had me. 😂😂
Man, I WISH I could do fanart like that. That's friggin' awesome!
Pete: I like to keep things consistent
The storeroom: Am i a joke to you?
the art was hysterically good :D
Edmo is such a beast. What a man!
about the "The Wanted Prisoners" quest ... honestly i would accept it for the Eltex robe and the Psychic reader
im not sure if we have someone with a psychic reader installed already but 50% negotiation for recruitment / trading / factionrelation can be pretty good especially in your stage of the game.
if you dont need these items 10 Honor for Redhawk will be fine as well. ^^
Yeah the raids will be insane but you would NOT actually have to treat the prisoners.
Bloodrot goes away on its own around 30-40 days after it started.
you can Cure it for 10 Glitterworld medicine and a doctor with Medical 5 or higher.
Treatment costs 1 default medicine and only slows down the severitygain per day.
you prisoners will only stay around 1 day so they basically gain 0.8 severity what sets them on Major what will make them mostly vomit. (provided they start at Minor 0.01)
the raids on the other hand can be funny with your peekaboo strategy and you can do it with if im not mistaken 4 positions from you base with 14 colonists total.
and if you want to increase your odds even further you can wait a bit for time to pass an accept the quest while a trader or caravan is on the map. (Manhunterpack can work as well) :D
or you could take the refugees as canonfooder ;)
i hope what i typed here makes sense :D english is not my native language ^^
I think the "Wanted Prisoners" Quest would make for an EXCELLENT video. Will the rewards be worth it? Probably not, will the fan art be savage? Absolutely! I'd love to hear the community's thoughts on this. So leave a reply if you agree or disagree.
The rewards via enemy loot could definitely be worth it alone. I've had a quest where around 60-80 pirates would appear 3 times and I basically made sure that they'd get in my kill box which doesn't allow for enemies to fire. Ended up with 11 triple rockets and 9 doomsday. Pirates are the best 👌
It might be an idea to accept both the refugee and the prisoner protection quest and make the former the first line of defence against the latter. I honestly have little experience in Rimworld, therefore I can't really gauge the risk with this, though.
Finally, some carpets are coming
Hey Pete
For the two Quests you have received, you could accept both of them. First the one with the Visitors and second the Quest with the Prisoners. In this way you got a larger Armysize for the Fight against the Pirates. You can also open up the Ancient Danger for the fight.
I feel like the goodwill from that prisoner quest would be the best reward.
I feel like Synadenos should be asking to join your colony. Sure, she's apart of the Empire, but it's clear you take better care of her than her own faction does! The first time she was being chased by a mad goose, and this time she was injured for some reason.
I would love to accept the mission for the 2 raids. A bit of trouble is always fun :D Thank you for the episode
take the quest for the 5 prisoners man that could be an episode by itself lol
Great as always! Addicted to your videos!
The first quest is too risky but the second one is easy to minimize risks taking their guns off and making them sleep in some kind of barracks!
Looking forward to yhe next episodes of MYZ and Rimworld!
Thanks!
Randy went a bit nuts this episode, huh? Yaks and Iguanas, wow!
Also I think that it is more fun to make pols asking us for the missions, anyway keep things up!!
The quest would be really interesting to see, you have the potential of having a pretty big fight, something we havnt seen at all yet. I hope you take both quests and use the refugees to fight the pirates! Much love!
Hi Pete! I'm a French viewer and I love what you do. I'd love to be able to make French subs on your Rimworld videos so other French people can watch them too. I'm not sure you'll see that, but that'd be lovely!

Hold the prisoner quest as long as possible. If you ever get a mech cluster or manhunter event, you can accept it and have them fight each other while you stay safe inside.
Aw man, you could have accepted the fighting quest during the yak+iguana attack and all problems would have solved by themselves! We need a party fanart!!!

Great series and great community! This is more entertaining than some stuff on Netflix
I just binged all these episodes. I thought the series was over. Now im sad because i have to wait for the next episodes
good stuff Pete.
Edmo is the rightful heir! No nepotism in the Steakhouse! xD
0:40 I would have guessed that permits start on cooldown/no free use when selecting to prevent you from just keeping points forever. Apparently not.
2:10 "Look, I only got very loopy because of the heat. Can I take you up on that join offer?"
3:30 Lol, did she seriously just try to steal/equip the Marine Armor?
6:00 The 2 raids of that size could be doable, if they would not happen both within 17 hours of each other - not enough time to heal any wounds.
And the part where you get as many Mecernary Gunners as you have colonists clearly shows how dangerous each raid would be!
You could effectively use the gunners as a "shield" for your colonists, but your Killbox is not designed to actually use 7 fighting pawns - so it might need some rework.
8:13 You maybe have 5 frames where you can see they got a Animus Stone. Wich is a Psyfocus of the type "Nature". The main issue is that you need a lot of unbuild space around for it to work.
17:30 Be carefull with having Silver lying around. Silver counts for colony wealth 1:1. But if you buy a item there is some Trader Markup, so you will loose some net-wealth. And it is possible they also only count with their sell-price for Item Wealth, wich would make it ever better.
18:40 I was wondering about that one. You could have put in a temporary flooring of marble or maybe wood, to later replace it with Carpet. For game purposes, Carpets simply are a cloth-based Flooring.
19:20 Do it! (palpatine voice)
The first time you asked for opinions and then did not do it anyway, as it was "too early". This sounds doable. Just get a Barracks room for 5 people and you are good to go.
The Motto of the colony should be "A Toe For A Toe." Add signage as necessary
Always a welcome sight in my subscriptions
Edie just had a really bad ingrown nail, and she was super grateful they got rid of it
Would explain why her mood was so poor and she can't sleep for extended periods of time...
