  • India has donated $2.5 million to United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine Refugees in the Near East at a time when major powers like the US and the UK's funds to the agency remain frozen. Pia Krishnankutty explains why this is significant & traces the history of Indian government donations to UNRWA since 2009. Watch #ThePrintVideo

      what did palestine to India? during 1971 war with Pakistan, Palestine along with other arab countries supported Pakistan// India is the first non arab country to acknowledge the state for palastine and still supported Pakistan. Well forget about ambani its his choice, I could say the same thing to you why don't you go to palastine and support them or give at least 50% of your savings to them if you did prove it by posting on community youtube :)

      The same people would make fun of India's poverty on social media outlets. The Indian government is stupid for making this donation and The Print is stupid for covering this donation because now it will a butt of jokes. If you donate then fine, don't tell the whole world.

    That's good, but India should also ensure that these funds are reaching the Palestinian people and not to Hum us

    India is giving money, while its own people suffer with poor infrastructure and Healthcare. Wow! This is the Modinomics, I guess.

    Why would or should India donate any money to Palestine? Let Pakistan and Bangladesh donate to their own? It's a case of "Begani Shaddi Mein Abdullah Divana!"

      No. Isreal is militarily, economically, strategically important for India. Also, India has sympathy for Yehudi(Jews) because of their long struggle with oppression. But then again, India is deeply concerned about Palestinian and their conditions as well.
      Hence, India was always a supporter of "two state solution". India just wants peaceful existence of both communities/countries, same as it wants peace with Pakistan (but for Pakistani Army Kashmir issue is the 'milking cow"!).

    It's surprising how India started this late to fund UNRWA despite being one of the first countries to recognise the state of Palestine. MEA recently proudly put how India took that stand in the 80s. Was there any other medium through which India was providing aid to the Palestinians before 2002 ?

    • @jameslawrence5828
      @jameslawrence5828 Месяц назад +1

      I know that India has donated for Palestine aid before. I don’t know if they did to UNRWA specifically. Of course, it is a small amount when compared with the western countries that existed.

      India's own economic condition was not that better mainly due to almost half a century long protectionism (because of the fear of two centuries long domination). But India provided scholarships or conducted training courses for Palestinians. Also provide some financial grants here and there.
