And three of the Rightly Guided Caliphs (approved by free choice, not kings) were assassinated by extremists and self-interest factions.
Furthermore, even the one considered to be the fifth Rightly Guided Caliph, was also poisoned by his own clan of princes, for the same reasons: they lost their amassed wealth and privileges under his rule, for the sake of a welfare state in the service of the poor. And the Umayyad dynasty went back to doing Umayyad things, and sending back the poor to their place. He wasn’t defended by those he served, nor did they take it upon themselves to carry on his legacy.
It’s similar to the quote allegedly attributed to Imam Ali: “I’m amazed by their audaciousness in their wrong, and your timidity in your right”

@@chrisbennett6260 Britain has its own story (recent history with Iraq war, fight terrorism with IRA years ago, immigrant population from commonwealth, empire etc.). So 'no', this is not worldwide. Just different in different ways. We don't have anti-muslim pushes in Canada nor will you hear much of this in Australia. The British are a kind and compassionate people. This story of riots means that Brits need to think about the society and democracy they want, whether citizenship and values we agree with apply to where we live and work and for the generations of newcomers we help to find belonging.

We've had large vertical corporatism since the east India company, that's not the cause of the riots.

The English working class were respected after the war, for a short time. But by the 70s the elites were sick of them and wanted to divide and rule. I suspect Immigration is the conclusion of the divide and rule policy because the middle and upper classes of this country hate the working class, they can't hide it. It's also direct evidence that democracy is broken because so few people ever wanted it until it was so prolific it could not be stopped and now so many people support immigration it can't be stopped. Turkeys voting for Christmas.
I've watched for decades as independent and reader professionals were undercut by cheaper foreign labour. Despite constant economic reports that immigration does not lower wages, it killed the single owner operator trades for many natives. Forcing everyone to work as a dependent for a vertical corporation. Sure, I don't disagree there's a top down corporate globalisation push as well, but immigration is part of that. Immigration from hostile countries where its residents hate the UK (for good reasons). And once here we have no right to judge behaviour by our values. This is doomed to end badly. The logical conclusion of immigration will be bad for everyone. A house diversed cannot stand.
