    I swear I've seen that final image of the Dregpike running before! I think it might have been in my grandfather's hands for some time, as he liked to collect this sort of curious images. I think it was just a print, not the original. What a coincidence to see it again!

    In southern Scandinavia we have Bäckahästen (the Stream Horse), very much alike the Kelpie.
    And, sadly, much too real.

      Thanks for that Olab! Water horses - that is: amphibious or aquatic equine creatures with fish fins - are fairly common across Northern Europe. What makes the Cumbrian Dregpike unusual is that it has the body of a fish and only the mane and the back legs of a horse.

    If it wasn't so extensively documented, I would imagine that it was some sort of spinosaur. A group of biped, carnivorous dinosaurs known for their slender snouts and affinity for aquatic environments.
    Maybe a highly evolved relative of the endemic Baryonyx that exchanged the saurian tail for a mane-like crest of feathers.

    • @whinnymoor8155
      @whinnymoor8155 2 года назад +4

      That is a great hypothesis Gandalf. Perhaps the answer lies somewhere in there.. As the film explains, there is at least one documented relict fish living in one lake in Cumbria. Maybe other species were trapped and survive there?

Summer and there and the police found some girls It was a mother and daughter and the mother had loads of wounds. And died due to them however the daughter was freaking out and said two legged lizards attacked them. I can't remember where this was. But however. I think he said there was a tail his father told him about a featherless bird with scalies attacking livestock. I don't know what era this was on tho.

    Great work!

    • @BritishCryptids
      @BritishCryptids  2 года назад +4

      Thanks Danielle! The women are so-called "China Girls" - here's the entry from wikipedia: "In the motion picture industry a China Girl is a type of test film, an image of a woman accompanied by color bars that appears for a few frames (typically one to four) in the reel leader. A "China Girl" was used by the lab technician for calibration purposes when processing the film (with the still photography equivalent being a "Shirley Card"). The origin of the term is a matter of some dispute but is usually accepted to be a reference to the models used to create the frames - either they were actually china (porcelain) mannequins, or the make-up worn by the live models made them appear to be mannequins."

    Different types of 'sea monster' are particular to sections of ocean/coastal areas, the predominant European type is the long head-haired variety. Might be a connection. Can't help but think some of these were murders or cover-ups for manslaughter.

    That picture at minute 17 has to be fake. Think about a 1920 camera. They'd gotten better and things in motion could certainly be captured in a picture but why would you have a camera set up in the middle of a chase.
