    Was able to test both and bought the sky paris (this is coming from an Adios Pro 3 fan) - have not taken it for full marathon but did a pb in a 1/2 marathon and look to use for a full coming up.

      Hi I am divided over the sky paris or adios por 3. Is there a clear winner for the marathon distance?

    • @042766
      @042766 2 месяца назад

      @@amircastilla07good question since I have not run further than 18 miles in the sky although it seems a bit "cushier" a bit than the pro 3-probably due to plate placement and maybe foam. However the pro does have a wider rear so if you tire in the later miles and start to heel strike, (like miles 20-26)the pro 3 should help plus there's more propulsion of heel to forefoot and through in the pro 3 since the energy rods are placed "similar" to the edge but not as deep in the forefoot. I have never worn any vapor fly's but I'm told the edge is much closer to VP3. It really depends on how you run as I have seen runners wear the sky in marathons.

    How much does the Metaspeed Sky Paris differ from the Metaspeed Sky Plus? Would either be a good option for a first marathon aiming for sub-4hrs?

  • @michaelb5432
    @michaelb5432 2 месяца назад +3

    Interesting, I was wondering how you would get on with the Edge as a heel striker cadence runner. I fit into that bucket and I love the Edge. I've PBed in 10k and the half in it earlier this year. It feels incredibly snappy, I've not had a bad run in it. My top racing shoe at the moment.
    I picked up the Sky a few weeks ago and did not get on with it, I tried 2 different interval sessions in it and it felt oddly flat and I had to work a little harder than I thought I would have to.
    I realise you're splitting hairs in the comparison, both clearly great shoes and logically you're not going to get on with both considering the difference in the geometry of the plate.

    • @Fozzee.1970
      @Fozzee.1970 2 месяца назад +3

      Totally agree. Much prefer the Edge and not had a bad run either. 2 x 10k a half marathon and a few 5ks in it. Sky doesn't push you onto the forefoot it's just bouncy with no roll.

    • @michaelb5432
      @michaelb5432 2 месяца назад +2

      @Fozzee.1970 yeah think you hit the nail on the head there about the roll, I felt I had to put more effort in as I was sinking into the landing whereas the Edge had that snap. Sent them back anyway.

  • @Otis220

    Nick - it would be great if you could share some of your stride data in both. You already have amazing cadence naturally. I'm wondering if the Sky Paris really increased your stride length at similar speeds/cadence. I also understand, I am total agreement-run in what feels best to you.

      I actually have some stats lined up for the vs of the two shoes coming later this week. Mostly pretty identical across the two, but I actually seem to have higher cadence and shorter stride length in the Sky Paris...

    Point around the 15:00 mark, my average cadence in a 5k race is about 200 (my easy pace is 179). I use edge+ now but looking at old races there’s about 1% improvement in cadence but my stride has also increased (I’m faster and fitter). So if I jumped to the sky I might lose the turnover but gain in the stride.

    • @TheRunTesters
      @TheRunTesters  2 месяца назад +3

      Yeah I (Nick) do agree too tbh, kind of got carried away in the review haha, but I’m not convinced about the way they’re aligned with running style. Two options with different feels that runners might like more or less, depending on preference more than their gait, is how I see it

    • @v6i838
      @v6i838 2 месяца назад +2

      The whole philosophy of one being suited for one running style & vice versa put me off buying either entirely. I wasn’t prepared to gamble on one & hope for the best, so I opted for the DNE3 instead, which I think is a fantastic shoe
      I absolutely agree though that each model should be a different colour, terrible marketing by ASICS in making them look almost identical
