Home Tour | Episode 3 - The Center Hub, My Den, and Why it Works

In this episode of my home tour, I’ll discuss the good and bad about this room. My den or living area is the absolute center of the house and everyone has to go through it to get anywhere else in the house. The advantage is everyone sees each other everyday multiple times a day!
I especially loved it when I had very small children. My kitchen, dining room and foyer are open to this room, so the kids had a lot of space to play or do schoolwork, and I was available to help them, or keep fights from breaking out!
The rocks on the fireplace wall were hand delivered by us from a creek from the land we owned at the time. The wood on the walls and floor were harvested from fallen trees during a hurricane that went through Alabama. The chandelier had been bought years before we built the house and fit perfectly into the style of home we decided to build. It came from a torn down hotel in New York.
The French doors are wonderful as they open up to a courtyard. It’s great for entertaining, or having celebrations for the kids and family.
