    Absolutely fantastic video. Gonna recommend this to my friend who plays intercession!
    Urm, the only things I can suggest adding to the videos are firstly, time stamps to certain key sections. Example, the builds, stats, general tactics.
    This is so people can pull up the video & quickly use the guide right before a match to help them get an idea of what baseline build they need.
    And Secondly maybe an example of what a full roster which can field all your baseline builds?
    That would be great additions for the future :)

    Great info, thanks!
    I only disagree that you should always go for unactivated opponents. Depending on the situation killing the unactivated models can rob you of your Overwatch shots so often it's better to let enemy activate someone not that relevant but get more kills overall in return.

    • @turningpointtactics6177
      @turningpointtactics6177  Год назад +1

      Yeah great point! There’s definitely some nuance in it, for instance letting a regular vetguard trooper activate isn’t much of a big deal, but a Plasma or Melta you definitely have to kill. You also have to watch out for ploys or traps like In Death Atonement!
      I probably should have put a caveat at the start! 😁

  • @elderbasilisk1534
    @elderbasilisk1534 Год назад +2

    Excellent guide. If there is one thing to add, that is that I think you undersell auto bolt rifles a bit by the way you use the statistics. (Though your argument on a regular bolt rifle for the leader is insightful). Since most of the time after TP1, you're going to have operatives at a mix of ranges, you're going to be taking some shots with doctrine and some without. (You allude to this in the description of how to choose doctrines). So taking the "doctrine" profile and ignoring the standard profile in your kill team selection is misleading. You'll probably have at least 1/3 of your shots from the no doctrine profile. That also offers and opportunity for mixed teams where you play the bolt forward and auto bolt rifles back (or vise versa) to maximize your in-doctrine bolt rifle shots while having the better no-doctrine profile of auto bolt rifles for your no-doctrine shots.

    • @turningpointtactics6177
      @turningpointtactics6177  Год назад

      Yeah you’re absolutely correct, and auto bolt rifles have better standard deviation. I know that the auto bolt rifle is more likely to very consistently deliver 6 damage, but I also know that the bolt rifles will have a more reliable kill when they spike. It’s an interesting scenario because rolled out over many many games I’ve noticed that the auto bolt rifles delivering 6 damage hasn’t been the tactical solution I need on the tabletop. Doctrines are something that we can talk more about, I’ve actually found in a lot of scenarios that by planning for my Doctrine TP2 I can make the appropriate moves to get all my shooters into the correct range. I think the aspiration for the Intercession player is to align your position to doctrines so you get 85%+ of your shots in the correct doctrine. I’ve gotten okay at that but I haven’t yet been able to go to the next step and ensure the model outside of doctrine always has the auto bolt rifle

    This is incredible deep dive! Few question:
    1. How they performe vs orc commando / novitiates?
    2. How can be compared to Phobos and where is Phobos better and worst?
    3. I love unique captains/lieutenants so who you picked for leaders to get maximum swag points? :)

    • @turningpointtactics6177
      @turningpointtactics6177  11 месяцев назад +1

      They’re good vs Kommandos, the Assault Intercessors can do a great job bullying them on objectives and in melee
      Novititates have a few key threats, the plasma pistol on the leader for example. If you can kill those key threats before they do their work then it becomes a significant struggle for them to get the damage through that’s needed
      Phobos have more tricks & abilities but are a lot harder to work and they’re less reliable. Intercession is easier to play and more reliable so you’re less likely to get diced
      I’m fully supportive of getting whichever models you think look coolest onto the tabletop, just get them on the right size base and you’re good to go, base adapters are a great way of doing this

    Awesome overview guys! I've been playing Intercessors in local meta (which is starting to be a bit fed up with them, to be honest 😅 ), also took them on local 20ppl tournament, and got 1 loss - in mirror. So...how to mirror? Which switches could be interesting? Security? Shooty sergeant? Or go melee (even melee power weap serg?) and rapid -> aggresive? Or just play standard 2/4, plasma serg, rapid methodical, rout + R&R + Shock and awe and try to execute better?

    • @turningpointtactics6177
      @turningpointtactics6177  Год назад +1

      Yeah any mirror match is tough, you really get into the pure player skill, preparation & luck!
      I think there’s a bit of seeing what your opponent takes and playing around it. Selection of Doctrine to try and get an asymmetric advantage. If you can keep them at range and use devastator or if they’re all on conceal try and kill them with tactical before they can wrath of vengeance.
      I like Seek & Destroy, the Security TacOps feels risker for some reason 😅
      But yeah, Rout, Rob & Ransack, Shock & Awe sounds like good picks
      But maybe a good discussion for a future podcast :)

    Regarding the “triple kills” part; if you’ve already shot twice with an operative you cannot perform wrath of vengeance aswell when they are eliminated in the same turning point because it counts as a shoot action. Since they can do two with bolter discipline a third would not be possible.

    • @turningpointtactics6177
      @turningpointtactics6177  10 месяцев назад +1

      So this is really important, within an activation you are limited and cannot repeat actions but, outside of an activation you can repeat actions. The part of the FAQ you’re looking at is for the niche occasion where you shoot twice & then die inside your own activation (shot by Guard, mine, another intercession player shooting on death)
      So!
      You can shoot twice, overwatch once & wrath of vengeance once all inside the same turning point but not within the same activation

      Assault Intercessor Plasma Pistol & Chainsword
      Assault Intercessor Grenade
      Intercessor boltrifle + power weapon
      Intercessor grenade launcher
      Then I think you should just build the others as standard Assault intercessors / Intercessors. No one really cares if which variant of bolter you have so build each one unique so they look cool and so they have distinctive features. This can be helpful when it comes to equipment

    How would you set up against Hierotek Circle on open board, I have a lot of issues with their AP 1 weapons that have the perfect profile to take out Intercessors and the fact they keep coming back due to living metal and reanimation (Reducing them to injured is basically moot)

    • @turningpointtactics6177
      @turningpointtactics6177  8 месяцев назад +1

      This is a difficult question. I think firstly you want to spread out so you don’t get hit by the Cryptek slow mine.
      I’d play TP1 fairly defensively, as you said you’re unlikely to get effective shots TP1 and you’ll expect to have to use 2 rounds of shooting to kill a single Necron
      TP2 I’d try and focus threats, it’ll usually take 2 Necrons to kill an Intercessor, and with double taps you should kill a Necron
      So if you can set up to move 7’ and double tap with multiple models then hopefully you can kill their threats before they can kill you

At no point in the video do you mention the Power First, Thunder Hammer or Hand Flamer on either Sergeant in any of the teams. I noticed that you mentioned lots of "Red" options, so I was wondering where the power first was. Do you consider it so bad that it didn't even qualify for red? Was it added to the rules after this video was made?

      On the Assault Intercessor Sgt the powerfist is good, but then you lose the Plasma Pistol, which sadly is just the better option if you’re taking that Sgt

      Company Hero models look fantastic! I’m actually considering doing a Black Templar Company Hero Proxy for Legionary!
      I think you have to play them much like the other Elite Teams, but I’d only look to hold the Eliminator back to play Vantages, this is because they can ignore obscurity. I think the Heavy Bolter needs to be moved forward to help you hold the midboard and use his durability to best effect. Remember you can still overwatch or guard with Heavy weapons. So you can make their last move a Move + Dash to get within 2’ of someone on conceal then Guard or wait till your opponent’s next activation completes and overwatch into your target

      @@DodgethisCZ I should probably make an overwatch guide! The main tips that come to mind are non-reciprocal shooting using obscurity & getting within 2 to open additional shots. Another option is if you leave a model wounded from your first round of shooting, shooting another model who’s full health and then overwatch the wounded model as you’re more likely to kill them
      I think it’s important to always consider follow on shots when moving as well, don’t just get one shot make sure to get multiple options

    Why not to equip auspex to the granadier so you don’t have to spend an action with a unit that can shoot twice? I mean… if there’s not anything else to do with the grenadier; isn’t that more efficient? Just wondering. I’m new to Kill team.

      Great questions!
      So gunner: If you place it on the grenadier it gives your opponent an activation to avoid the shot. Maybe they move the model or shoot the gunner etc. because you have 6 activations most good players will ‘stall’ during your first 6 so if you ‘telegraph’ your auspex shot they can probably avoid it.
      Assault Intercessors definitely have a place on ITD and many people enjoy playing them in an aggressive strategy to overwhelm their opponent. From my experience melee can be pretty swingy and with Elites if roll really badly and lose 1 on your turn from bad melee that can really really hurt
