      Yeah! I have been trying to find a nice balance between the two! I'm thinking of doing shorter, but as informative videos as I can from now on, and then potentially doing Q/A livestreams in the future for people to ask more in-depth questions that I can sit down and explain concepts and ideas to everyone.

    I love that this is short and simple! I tried following but when I get to recording the animation, the toggle is not showing up in the drop down menu, any idea where I can find it? When I click the animation created in the project then go back to the animation tab to record, it doesn't let me because it's grayed out :/

    • @Wolfy527
      @Wolfy527  2 года назад

      You'll want to make sure that it's placed in a layer in your FX controller. I.e. You will want to play the on and off animation in the layer you're planning on using for your toggling on and off, and then go to the animation tab to record your animations there. You'll also want to make sure you click on the base of your avatar before opening the animation tab so that it know to record the animations on your avatar, instead of showing a completely greyed-out box.

    I managed to make the toggle work in unity but when I uploaded to vrc the toggle would be able to be selected but would not do anything when turned on. I did make a new fx controller but I don’t know if thats the problem because my avatar currently has a couple already and I didn’t know which to use

    • @Wolfy527
      @Wolfy527  Год назад

      What you'll want to do is look at your "VRC Avatar Descriptor" and look for the "Playable Layers" drop down menu and you will see an "FX" controller. Click that in your descriptor and it will pull it up in your project folders below. Then drag and drop it from there to your "Animator Component" on your avatar's base into the "Controller" portion and then record your animations in there. You'll be able to set up new layers on your current FX controller and test things in unity this way as well. This should help ya keep things a bit more organized and in one spot instead of creating a new FX controller when making new animations. If ya have any other questions just let me know!

    Thanks for this short and sweet tutorial! I keep having troubles with my toggles whereas I can't turn them on or off. When checking the parameter toggle, nothing happens on the scene and no loading bars indicate a playing animation; I'm not sure what I've done wrong D:
    Everytime I try to make an animation in my normal control, it makes a new control automatically

    • @Wolfy527
      @Wolfy527  2 года назад

      If you're testing them in Unity, you'll want to make sure that the controller you're using in your avatar descriptor (which goes in game) is in the Animator component shown at the start of the video. If that is in there, then when you are testing animations, you'll also want to make sure you have your avatar or something on it in the hierarchy selected. Sometimes Unity can bug out and not know what FX Controller you are trying to use when you don't have the avatar or at least something under that avatar's (that particular animator's) hierarchy selected. One last thing when testing! Don't turn on play mode and then put your FX Controller into the animator component as your animations for testing won't work since the FX Controller needs to be placed in the animator component prior to starting play mode.

    • @Wolfy527
      @Wolfy527  2 года назад

      @@Mou5eBoy Thank ya for the comment about this! You do want to make sure that the bool you use for the toggle matches the one that goes into your parameters list in game! Hopefully this helps Cryppi as well!

      You'll want to make sure you have your avatar selected in the hierarchy when you go to record. Also, if there are multiple animators on your avatar, this can cause issues when recording animations as it will try to record that animation on a different animator than your avatar's if you end up selecting an object with an animator on it.

      What aspect seems to not be working? The fundamental way to make a toggle hasn't changed, so there might just be a small thing that is off like the FX Controller not being in the animator component or maybe a transition setting that is off.

      I'm not exactly sure what you mean. If your toggle is flickering on and off, you'll want to make sure that it isn't set to "button" in your radial menu settings. If it's just rapidly triggering on and off then you'll want to make sure your transition parameters are set up properly in your animator.

      In your parameter's expression list there is a "Default" setting which is a column of check boxes. So if you have a toggle in your radial menu that you set up for a hat that you want on by default, you'd go to your parameter expressions list and make sure that the parameter's default state is check marked so that it will default on.
