Another Look at the Ten Commandments (Ex. 20:1-17) - The Broadman Word for 9/5/2024

The Ten Commandments has influenced millions throughout the centuries. Whether it be Jews, Christians and even agnostics and atheists, the ten commandments have been a source of encouragement, direction and conviction. However, when looking more at the ten commandments, it is interesting to see how a majority of the commandments have to deal with a horizontal relationship between those around us (6) instead of the vertical relationship that we have with God (4). So does that mean that the people-focused commandments are more important than the God-focused commandments? Absolutely not. Instead, the commandments that have to deal with our relationship with God sets the foundation of everything else.
