- Join Claire Saffitz in the Bon Appétit Test Kitchen as she attempts to make gourmet Thin Mints, Samoas and Tagalongs. That's right, Claire's making Girl Scout Cookies. Did you know the Girl Scouts started selling cookies back in 1917? But it wasn't until 1951 that the Thin Mint, the cookie most synonymous with the Girl Scouts, was introduced and swept the country like a tidal wave. And now here we are, in the Test Kitchen, watching Claire make them herself. What a time to be alive.

I’m not sure our leader even told us there was a competition. It was all about whether or not we as a group made enough money to afford to go to camp that year.

Well, in this case proably not so bad. Once you get into the territory of sabotaging your competition or cheating, you get a problem. Or rather, as long as you want to be perfect by getting better at what you do, its fine. If you want to be perfect by winning everything, than it is unhealthy. There is a fine line between perfectionism and narcissism.
@@WorldOfSafari Being a perfectionist doesnt usually lead to actually becoming perfect though, it usually leads to not doing anything because you won't get it to be perfect (ive been putting of auditions because I didn't want to embarrass myself for not being perfect, when in reality you really can't ever be perfect) and so you shouldn't try at all. Also often gives you depression

I remember placing 3rd in my 7th grade spelling bee, and I still remember who placed 1st and 2nd and moved on to county as well as the word I misspelled and who was giving out the words. However in those years of my life spelling bees were important to me. I participated in them throughout elementary and middle school and placed twice on two separate occasions. So let Clare remember the girl scout cookie competition. No need to sound condescending.

Thin Mints are definitely my families favorites! My mom used to hide stashes of thin mints all over the house for herself. Only problem was my mom was pretty forgetful and would forget where her stashes were, which has lead to random boxes of thin mints popping up in odd and unusual places 😂!

siri H I, myself, have a difficult time hearing and I wish that more content creators actually included decent captions instead of the auto-generated ones! Especially with cooking videos- since many of the phrases are in French or they’re technical terms, so the captions are often way off.
siri H if you have good hearing, I would sincerely encourage you to write a transcript for people like me, so we can enjoy the entire video instead of just the rough approximation we get with the captions!
