  • I am a huge advocate of home made footwear- from sandals to boots and everything in between (more videos about all these subjects are on the way!). In terms of barefoot feel- moccasins are about as good as it gets, lightweight and flexible and providing some protection while still allowing your feet to move naturally and really feel the ground. In this video I walk some folks through making a pattern for my version of a side seam moccasin. This is my favorite style- quick and easy to make, comfortable, uses hide sparingly, and replaceable soles. What's not to like?
Recorded at Saskatoon Circle Ancestral Skills gathering June 2019
PS- this style is geared only toward brain tanned buckskin. Other leathers don't move the same way and wont work for this pattern.
