One of my biggest financial mistakes was not setting up a Self-Managed Super Fund (SMSF) earlier to take control of my retirement savings. The flexibility and investment choices available with an SMSF can be game-changing, but navigating the complexities can be daunting without the right guidance.
Timing the right investments and managing compliance is notoriously difficult, even for seasoned investors. Consulting with a financial advisor can provide tailored advice to help you make the most of your SMSF, from tax strategies to portfolio diversification.
I've been working with a financial advisor ever since I started managing my super fund. Knowing today’s financial climate, the challenge is understanding when and where to invest. My advisor carefully selects the right assets and manages compliance, ensuring my SMSF grows steadily. Over the last year, my fund has seen a growth of over 90%, thanks to their expertise in setting up and managing everything efficiently.
Might need an updated video mate. SMSF are cheaper and simpler than ever, e.g. options like Stake SMSF. You would almost certainly benefit from lower costs, especially if you combine with family members.
Really well explained! Love your honesty on the fact that it's not always suited to everyone. I can imagine you would come a lot of people who have set one up thinking it's the best option for them without really understanding all the aspects of it.
Well done on the 10x mate! I'm an investor, haven't used my super yet. Can you take profits along the way? I know people that have had most of their portfolio wiped out in the 2017 crash. Exit positions are key. USA is about to regulate crypto and we could see a bear market. If I can't sell at highs and take profit I'm reluctant to use my super, even with big gains. All the best.
Great video! Would you consider using an SMSF to buy commercial properties, not for your own lease but to lease to other businesses? I am considering setting one up to buy a couple of industrial commercial properties to later benefit from the cashflow. I am about 10 Years of retirement.
Hey GI =D I am wanting to buy shares with my super and that's it, nothing else. reason being is i want to put more into a share, but don't have the capital, so am looking at using my super. Its it worth it just for investing in this one share? and lest say this share does well, meaning it doubles in 4 years for example. Cheers
Hey mate, depends how much money you are investing as to whether or not it is worth the cost. But either way, I would strongly caution against putting all your eggs in one basket. If it's a highly speculative share, probably best you don't put all your retirement savings on the line no matter how confident you are....unfortunately I've seen that strategy go wrong too often ☹️
Guaranteed you will chop up half a forest to supply the paper you will need for all the ridiculous admin you have to do. The rules are there to make running an SMSF as difficult and unpleasant an experience as possible.
Good question! To be honest, I don't know the answer, but I would be very surprised if you could. From a legislative perspective, you're not supposed to get a benefit from your super until you meet a condition of release. But stranger things have happened 🤷♂️ I would ask a mortgage broker who has connections directly with lenders and can find out
The main thing I'm concidering is the markets are going to be bear soon (likely starting Dec/Jan based on history) especially the crypto market so I think it's a Bad time to start up a SMSF for the relatively new investor like myself. However rap artists have recently sold shares in their upcoming singles/ albums in the form of nfts which is potentially a huge market to get in early (I think this would count under art/nfts) you would even earn your share in royalties.
Do you know of a accountant which is good for setting up a smsf for high frequency forex trading. Ie 500 to 600 trades a month typically. Im keen to action something start of new financial year.
Hi GI, great, basic video. Thanks for that. We are thinking about setting up a SMSF but need some expert advice. Most firms providing advice have an agenda and are not forthcoming about niche investments. Where can we get 'independent' expert advice on SMSF?
@@MrLandseer hey, glad you liked the video! Feel free to reach out through my website if you want to chat about your particular situation....agenda free 😉

There is definitely some legislative risk in using any super fund but I always go back to the reason super was introduced - to get people off the age pension. Given this I think its in the government's best interest to maintain use and confidence in the super system.

Sounds interesting! Could you share your advisor's information? I'm looking for someone experienced in SMSFs.
Just ran an online search on his name and came across his website-it’s clear he’s well-educated and experienced. Thank you for sharing!

Hey Ethan, thanks mate! Do you get many clients asking for an SMSF?
@@GuidedInvestor Yeah I do have a few ask about them occasionally. Not something I do at the moment though, so I wouldn't say a huge amount!
We have one, would highly recommend if you are willing to put in the work.
Plz contact for SMSF accounting
Great video, smashed the like! Cool hearing about smsf, loads of info there mate, nice one
Thanks mate 👍
Started a SMSF with 27k and turned into 300k+ in 5 months of crypto trading... worth it for the 15% cap gains limit
Hey mate, nice work. what exchange did you use to purchase Crypto for your SMSF?
@@richarddekretser2395 don't want to post my exchange online but a number of Australian exchanges allow you to set up SMSF accounts under your trust

Very helpful to answer a host of questions

I learnt something today, i never heard of SMSF before, is this only in Australia? my best is using to buy an income property. big thumbs up
Yeah only in Australia Vic. The income property concept sounds interesting....

Nothing wrong with buying a commercial property in an SMSF provided you understand the pros and cons of commercial property investing....

@@GuidedInvestor Are there any public offer funds you would recommend?

I want it because I want it all in on Bitcoin
SMSF benefits: 10% tax for income eg dividends, 20% for capital gain.
