I was choking on those prices though what’s considered expensive is relative to one’s budget and lifestyle. Like you said, this is your business and livelihood. The plants are stunning! I would be terrified to kill them! Maybe when I have your experience and knowledge I can move up to the big leagues! 😀 Thank you for posting. I always enjoy your videos!
Same girl same I was literally like 😮 but very true when it comes to her business and lively hood. I would love to be able to purchase even a plant that’s $100
Same. I'll spend $500 on a one night hotel on vacation long before id spend it on leaves, but I like travel and she likes leavea, everyone has their own thing like she said!
Yeah, I'm stressed out that I'm going to kill the $12.99 grocery store plant. I was literally floored when she mentioned the price of some of those plants. I had NO idea a houseplant could be that expensive. I'm shocked.
Video Idea: At the end of every growing season, do a Hoya growth update and have B roll pictures of previous years for comparison. I LOVED your Hoya collection video this spring and would be so interested in seeing the growth you have had on them :)
Plants aside, your hair looks absolutely stunning! My biggest splurge was Monstera Thai Constellation cutting, she now has three gorgeous leaves and I love her to pieces. The next big purchase will definitely be Anthurium varocqueanum, but first I need to make sure I can take care of other anthuriums in my collection, so that's my wishlist plant for 2022!
The most I’ve spent is $50 on my monstera deliciosa. I’m waiting for all the rare plants I want to be cheaper because I refuse to spend even $50 on a plant anymore. No shade to anyone who buys pricey plants I’m just cheap.😂
Sameee😂 I only have a few plants because I just can’t justify spending money on plants at this point in my life, but one day I want to have a jungle house😩
@your overwatered plant Don’t feel bad. Parents love to purchase things for their children. We like to gift our children when we can. It gives us joy. You sound like a very responsible teenager. I would call your parents lucky to have a young adult like you. My first grandchild was born last year and I would be thrilled for him to ask me for pots or plants! 🥰. Wishing you the best of luck. Happy growing!!
I really wish you guys were from Europe, I bought mine for under 10€, don’t get me wrong they still expensive here, but some supermarkets sell a lot of considered rare plants for a good price. I recently bought me a calathea orbifolia for 8€🥰🥰 waited until it went on sale, it was 18€
This was fun! It’s a cool way to see plants that some of us wouldn’t have a chance to spend the money on or wouldn’t see because we stay looking in our comfortable price range. It’s your money, you spend it how you want!
The most I've ever spent on a plant, was last year - for a cebu blue pothos. I had been wanting one for years, and the prices were constantly in the $250 range, here in Australia, for a tiny cutting. When I eventually found one for $80, I jumped on it straight away. The very next week, the same online nursery knocked them down, by half price, because they were overstocked. It grew quickly in it's first season, and I managed to propagate 10 cuttings. Now I have a huge plant and I've just recently taken more cuttings. While it was a lot of money for me, something I normally wouldn't pay for a plant - I made sure I had experience caring for pothos beforehand (so I wouldn't kill it) and propagated it as soon as possible. That way, I get value for money. I can justify the cost, that way.
Oh my i would be having an anxiety attack every night that the plant would die! I dont kill plants frequently but it happens.. my normal splurges are around 30-40 bucks and thats all im really willing to spend in case i lose the plant.. i dunno.. im good at propagation, especially if i think a plant is declining for some reason.. so im not sure why i worry so much..
I splurged on a Whale Fin and spent $64. That is the most I have spent on one plant, however I did drop $285 on a plant haul of 7 plants so I am pretty frugal when it comes to buying plants. I will wait on a wish list plant until the prices come down, I kill too many plants to spend a lot of money on them. By the way, your hair is fabulous. It is really silky and shiny.
The biggest I spent on a plant was 25€ , it was 6 years ago and still regret it... because it was kind of a spontaneous purchase and definitely wouldn’t do it after thinking a little.the plant is still with me , remaining- lesson learned 😁 . I think you really have to think through and be absolutely sure it’s exactly what you are looking for, especially on the high range . There are always will be more, and the right one and don’t rush!!

I love seeing the more expensive plants, its so easy to see more common plants. Seeing such a big obliqua is amazing and still so rare to see more than one leaf!!
I’ve never been soooo early on an Harly video 😆 I love your videos Harli, you’re one of the first plant parents that encourage me to start my RUclips channel ☺️ it’s a French channel since I live in Paris 🇫🇷 but I speak English as well and can’t count the hours I’ve spent on your videos lol they’ve been so so helpful for my plant mom journey ❤️♥️❤️♥️❤️♥️ merci beaucoup pour toutes ces vidéos ☺️

This was an awesome video! Part 2 PLEASE!😁 As someone who got into plants last year, I definitely have my share of plant splurges. It's so interesting to see how the prices fluctuate based on what's going on in the world. 😁
Yeah was think the same. I got a small red spot tricolor with three leaves, about the same size as the one in the video (baby plant so no cutting) for 400$.
Im actually about to start my at-home plant business, and thanks for the tip that you can write off the plants on your taxes! I didnt think of that part yet! SUCH PRETTY PLANTS!! i think if the plant makes YOU happy and YOU think its worth it. then go for it!
I think what I appreciate most about your channel and videos is how very real and frank you are about plant life :) Your positivity gets me through the mornings!
Love the fact that you say what you spent on high priced plants. not many youtubers will do that. loved the video ❤ my last plant purchase was in march and was a syngonium red spot tri colour and here in the uk it cost me £300/$400 for a two leaf plant and its now a good size plant with 5 leafs and one on the way, syngonium are my favourites xx
I don’t know why I think you face looks adorable with that pregnancy glow and every time you look at a plant you le eyes shine ✨ even brighter you look even more beautiful being pregnant 🤰 💗
Dear Harli, your journey with the houseplant are really and totaly plant worthy!❤️❤️❤️ you are one of the plant YTuber that all plants deserved to be in your care at least. Keep it up 🥰 i always loved and adorw you’re channel.
Omg I am in love with your syngonium scrambled egg! I didn't even know they existed but I now have a new wishlist plant (for when I'm rich 🤣🤣). And I believe you were looking for the phrase *News flash* lol. These are all so beautiful, thank you for sharing 🪴🤩
Don't ever be ashamed of the price you pay. It's your business and you bring us videos of very beautiful plants! I'm cheap and always buy my plants on sale. I just splurged on my number one wish plant. Which I still feel like I got a good deal but finally got my monstera adansonii! One of my local nurseries finally had one and I had gotten money for my birthday. It was like it was ment to be!
You're plants ALWAYYYSS make me drool. Those splurges are incredible, I'm so excited to finish school and kickstart my career so I can do the same! My most recent splurge was a Philodendron atabapoense in a 3.5" pot, I managed to find it local to me for $80 USD! I actually just picked it up today :)
This was awesome!! At the end I was saying alert, alert and then you said it. I could not think of anything either lol. Your hair looks so beautiful and as always your just glowing and stunning
I been around house plants for decades. My pap bought me a Monstera Adonai in an owl hanging planter for $8.00 when I was 14. Had till I went into Air Force at 18. I am now 55. Been wanting another but not willing to buy an uprooted nod. Plant prices are ridiculous going up and in some cases causing poaching of plants from their natural habitat. I love plants, and the conservation of house plants in their natural habitat. Harli, I love how you do take propigate your plants to make them more readily available. Your working on your base stoke understandable. You should check on the zoning ordinance and install a nice size greenhouse in your backyard.
Thank you for sharing!! Loved seeing your collection. Most I've spent was $120 on an albo node, which shot it's first leaf out and is rooting. YAY! 😀Definitely a risk.
Giiirl! Thank you for being so honest and thank you for this video. I've got a severe craving for syngoniums after watching your videos:`) My most expensive plant (so far) is my dear Alocasia Reginula Black Velvet - I just pray it survives me haha! Keep up the great work!
If it’s your passion, you will find a way to buy it. I’ve seen people buy vehicles way out of their budget and pay over $1k a month for that vehicle. If you want it bad enough, you will find a way. I save a certain amount of my paycheck each month for my plant budget. You shouldn’t have to include a disclaimer on a video like this, but it just shows your heart is in the right place. It’s your job, and obviously we support your job by watching your videos, and commenting on them. Keep being you Harli, you’re a sweetheart.
Those plants are all awesome! I hadn’t heard of a few of them before. This year I splurged on a few things since I graduated from grad school 😅 I got a mature rhapidophora decursiva, an anthurium forgetti, mature anthurium magnificum, and my ultimate wishlist plant anthurium wendlingeri 🥰 I also received my second top wish list plant as an extremely generous gift from someone in my local community who was spreading kindness in light of all the wild plant prices! It was an alocasia cuprea and makes me so happy
Impressed with your taste. I'm not the big syngonium fan that you are, but they do seem easy enough to grow. I only have one, but it has increased rapidly. Loved your fenestrated baby. I grew and sold hostas years ago, when they were $250 a division for some sorts, and at auction might hit $1000. In today's dollars, think $1000 to $10,000. Then a guy named Hans Hansen started TC of those rare plants and was able to reproduce even the most complex variegation patterns. They had said it couldn't be done, but he did it. Then in a short period, those $1000 plants were $25. Nurseries were buying tissue culture liners for about $5 for a top shelf one. Cheaper for others. Those syngoniums will end up in a lab. Too much easy pickings. Hans is now a plantsman out of the lab, mostly hybridizing. But there will be someone. So chew on that when you consider a 2K plant. A queen anthurium is not a challenge in the least for a TC lab. If you're in the business, I suggest finding a lab and getting plants. You might have to order a few flats to make the minimum, but you'll have inventory and the profit margins are decent even if you sell those plants that are now $2k for $100. It's coming. You heard it from me, lol.
thank you for being up front. I am not in the plant business. I just love plants. I won't spend more than 30 or 40 on any plant. I just spent 25 on a hoya curtsii and that was a lot for me. I love to buy the small plants at a fair price and watch them grow.
Okay I just need to say your face looks amazing!!! What ever your doing girl keep doing it! Idk if it’s the pregnancy glow or a new skin care routine but your looking flawless!!
Hi Harli, I enjoyed this video, as always. The 218 comments were almost as interesting as your video. I may never purchase one of these rare and beautiful plants , however, I do love seeing them in your care and learning about their price ranges. I learn a lot from your channel. I always appreciate the time and effort you put in to you content. All of these plants are gorgeous and I am sure they bring you great joy. 👏🌿🥰💚
Thanks for being transparent & sharing prices with us. I could not splurge like this bc I would be afraid I’d kill it. 😅 but it’s also not a business I’m in. The scrambled egg Syngonium was my favorite. ❤️
it’s so cool to see how you’ve made money and moved up in the plant world to be able to afford wishlist plants like this, CONGRATULATIONS!! it must be so amazing to see how far your collection has come 😆. the most i’ve ever spent on a plant was $59 NZD so probably around $30 USD and this was a huge amount of money for me as i am still in year 12 in high school and saving for a car 😊😅🚗 :))
Im always amazed by the difference in prices for plants. I often see people in the U.S. paying hundreds of dollars for the same plant i brought here in Australia for only $20. So splurging on an expensive plant here could be cheap as chips over there for u. The most i have ever spent on one plant is $40, but i got it for half price. And i would very much like to say, Harli, u look absolutely radiant during ur pregnancy. 🌺
Wow, I don't feel so bad now. I have been really freaked out that I have spent $1,000 (probably more) so far this year on plants, plant stuff & shipping. The most I've spent on 1 plant is $75 plus $26 shipping, and I thought that was expensive, lol!
My biggest plant splurge was 69.99. It was a large pink lady philodendron in an 8 inch hanging basket in a forgotten corner of a local hardware store far from their plant area (where they were selling tiny painted ladies, like maybe 1/10 the size for 35. Saw it the day before leaving town, decided not to get it because of price, regretted it the entire trip, and when I got back it was still in that forgotten corner of the hardware store waiting for me. Girl is beautiful. The new growth, which there is a lot of has very pink stems, and the new leaves are more super vibrant. It felt like a risk since it looked a little dull since it was getting zero light, but it is soooo happy and healthy and now I have to figure out what to do since it’s growing like a weed and I have limited space.
In the fall of 2021 my local walmart had a big clearance of house plants for 1 dollar apiece. I bought 25 of them mostly because I liked the ceramic planters they were in.most were in pretty bad shape, I lost 2 of them. Now I have around 50, the most I payed is 12.99 for a hoya wyettii. I love to buy from the clearance carts, last week I found a philo Brazil on a table the plants were going in the trash. They let me have it for 4.00, washed the leaves and watered it good and now its beautiful. Most of my plants are rescues, makes me happy to give them a second chance.
Thanks for sharing Hari. I share your love for syngoniums! However, your collection is better! I live vicariously through you. Any of my plants that are considered rare or hard to find, I’ve gotten through trades. ♥️🪴
I’ve never seen an obliqua I liked until I saw yours, and that’s real talk. It’s beautiful and you should be proud, along with that strawberry ice’s crazy gorgeous variegation. Forgot to mention my first splurge that just happened, I got a young monstera albo. Like you mentioned in the video, I was waiting for the perfect variegation (more important to me than maturity), plus a seller I trusted, and when that fell into place I felt good buying it. I’m obsessed with the variegation. Well worth the money.
My plant splurge is usually done on multiple plants instead of one. Like I will buy 6-10 plants and that is a splurge for me. I haven’t spent over $100 on one plant in like two years and I’m so proud of myself. No need to justify your spending, we all have things we are willing to spend money on. And it’s your money, you earned it.
No kidding! Like that Syng scrambled egg 😱🤤🤤🤤 I would have fallen even more in love and wasted time looking for one if I hadn’t learned the general price at the same time! 😂
This made me feel super thrifty in a good way lol I appreciate the expensive plants from a comfortable distance 😅 the most I've spent was 70$ on a plant for my Gramma and it was unexpected. I seek out small and juvenile plants that are between 5-40$. I love your collection though and am not trying to be a butt at all. Your videos always make me laugh and smile 😊 can't wait for your next one
My Monstera Aurea was my biggest splurge I think it was 1000, however its one of happiest plants and i absolutely love it, definitely expensive but worth it to me 😄
I’ve always loved variegated money trees.... I could never afford one though, haha. They are gorgeous! It’s fun to see these rarer plants in your collection. If I had the means, I’d be splurging too. Enjoy it!!
Hey girl never any judgement here, you dont owe anyone an explanation on what you spent on plants. I was the one who commented on the page on the scrambled egg when you bought it asking for the unboxing video. I was just so excited it was you lol
Plants are your profession, no one should just how much you spend on your business or even hobby. You are a responsible adult, and you know how to best spend your hard own money.
I never get the people who get snappy with those who choose to spend money on plants, it's as if they try to make them feel lesser than "you'd spend $300 dollars on a few leaves? What is with people?" that's just not right. People can do whatever they want with their own money that they worked hard for and earned. If their choice is to spend it on plants, that's perfectly fine, it's really no one else's business. Keeping plants is something that a lot of us find joy in, I see no issue in putting money into something that makes you happy. Just because you see it as something you would not do yourself, doesn't mean other people aren't allowed to. Don't shame someone for enjoying their hobby in the way that they see fit!
I enjoyed you sharing this post. This your business & you know you have to spend $ to get the best in plants you can for your business. I can't wait for you to have your shop open and I can take a road trip from Washington state to visit your shop. THANK YOU HARLI YOUR VIDEOS
I’m 3 weeks into house plants but 4 years into orchid keeping. Most expensive orchid was I wanna say $65. Most expensive houseplant has been a $45 philodendron splendid and I love it to pieces. I just staked it on a moss pole and moved it to a 6 inch pot. So she little. But I love her so much.
My first and only plant splurge so far…back in 2020! I bought a Micans in a 6” pot for $60 😅😅 when it came, it was like four strands barely rooted stuck into a 6” pot. Could have easily fit into a 4” pot. Lol. But now I’ve propagated it and it’s fully rooted and a much more full, happy plant!
The Syngonium Scrambled Egg is to die for and the one with the super long leaves, wow! I'm not big into plants that cost more than like $40 tops, lol but I get it, they're stunning and when it's an investment it makes sense to splurge. I'm more of a simple old Pothos girl, there are so many beautiful inexpensive plants out there!
I really appreciate your explanation at the beginning of this video 💚 it can be hard to hold off on big purchases because it feels like a good deal. I just sold a 6ft bop, huge Regal Shield, huge odora, 2 4ft snakes and alocasia zebrina in hopes that I can buy a Thai. 🪴's be very fun hobby/buisness 😄
You look so pretty and those plants look soo cool! I really liked the variegated money plant and the strawberry syngonium. Also your monstera in the background is beautiful, that's the goal for my baby one!
I was choking on those prices though what’s considered expensive is relative to one’s budget and lifestyle. Like you said, this is your business and livelihood. The plants are stunning! So how much was it? Just curious
Variegated Money Trees here in the Philippines can cost for as low as $9 only!

YAY! 😀Definitely a risk.
hi❤...i love plnts too...i collected 42 varieties of syngonuim...just looking at them makes me happy 😊
Motherhood looks gorgeous on you!! 🙌🏽 Everyone always asking about your shop an where to buy from you but no answers?? Strawberry ice is amazing
Giiirl! Thank you for being so honest and thank you for this video.
I've got a severe craving for syngoniums after watching your videos:`) My most expensive plant (so far) is my dear Alocasia Reginula Black Velvet - I just pray it survives me haha!
Keep up the great work!
Thanks for your honesty! These beautiful plants really are priceless, just like our children. Your investments were worth it.
You look so cute being preg!! You are just glowing!! You are a business, more than I can do, but it's cute!!
You chose really beautiful plants. You have great taste. I loved them all. Wow that oblique leaf is gorgeous.
Omg those are such beautiful plants. That obliqua tho!!! U have such an amazing collection. And thank you for sharing your journey
Also my plant splurge was a philo splendid
thank you for being up front.
I live my syngonium dreams vicariously through you.. lol
Too funny, but so true! Same here!! 😉
Beautiful plants! I can’t decide which plant is my favorite! Great choices
Hmmmm Right
it’s so cool to see how you’ve made money and moved up in the plant world to be able to afford wishlist plants like this, CONGRATULATIONS!! it must be so amazing to see how far your collection has come 😆. the most i’ve ever spent on a plant was $59 NZD so probably around $30 USD and this was a huge amount of money for me as i am still in year 12 in high school and saving for a car 😊😅🚗 :))
Most recent splurge was a Painted Lady Philodendron for $80 but honestly so worth it. She's GORGEOUS and has been putting out new growth like crazy!
If anything, videos like this curb my spending because I can just live vicariously through your spending!
That syngonium strawberry ice is STUNNING. Omg 😭
I recently picked up a variegated epipremnum pinnatum, philodendron mamei, syngonium ice frost and another ppp. Love them allllll!!
Those syngoniums!!! Omg I’m in love
I loved seeing all of these, it was super fun!
Plant prices aside, your skin has been looking absolutely glowing lately. 💜💜
Im sooo early.. First comment. I love you Harli. Such a plant mama inspiration
Love you too! Thank you for stopping by! I hope you have a good day & nice weekend!
This is a fun video!! I like knowing the price of plants!! Sometimes it’s good to know that it’s out of your budget before you fall in love!! 😹😹😹
Also could you do a video of rare/pricey plants you traded for? Like what you got and what used to trade??
No kidding! Like that Syng scrambled egg 😱🤤🤤🤤 I would have fallen even more in love and wasted time looking for one if I hadn’t learned the general price at the same time! 😂
Harli be like: I love all my syngoniums and non-syngoniums equally! ;D
Thank you for sharing even though it feels vulnerable!
I think this is such a fun video idea! Loved it! And you're right, some people ball out on cars or vacations, etc.
I haven’t really been into syngonium but WOW….those are some beautiful plants!
Enjoy it!!
I had no idea those beauties were $400-$600. They are so pretty! I’d take a nice photograph and frame it just in case.
So pretty but also some crazy prices. The most I have paid is 300 and I check on that plant all day long.
Hey girl never any judgement here, you dont owe anyone an explanation on what you spent on plants. I was the one who commented on the page on the scrambled egg when you bought it asking for the unboxing video. I was just so excited it was you lol
Thanks for sharing this! I have never spent more than 30$ on a plant and I'm not planning to but we'll see what the future brings 😁
Crazy prices for crazy beautiful plants thank you for sharing 😊
I'm just over here living vicariously through you lmao
That strawberry ice & red spot tricolor are insane my goooodddd
Plants are your profession, no one should just how much you spend on your business or even hobby. You are a responsible adult, and you know how to best spend your hard own money.
I love your hair seriously so pretty! ❤️
My first plant ever was the Maranta. I bought it in 2019 and now, I have about 40 plants home :)
The last obsession was on the Monstera Monkey Leaf :)
I was thinking "Alert" in my head too, and then you said it 🤣 I have never seen the last one that is a stunning one!
