I just want to say I used the Sony XG-500 to workout. I was like this speaker is that not bad at all even after the sound battle. When you just have this speaker you won’t be disappointed at all 👍🏾. But it just lost the sound battle that’s all doesn’t make it a bad speaker. Just my thought from my last time using it 👍🏾
UE Hyper has some tight crisp highs no doubt. The Sony though would be my choice to carry around (superior battery life, battery saving mode, prefer the shape) You can just connect a guitar to the back of it. Or connect a USB full of music to it ETC. People are always wondering what the Sony is because it sounds great to most ears on MEGABASS mode and even without EQ tweakage.
I like the bass on the hyperboom as well so nasty. But I like the style of the XG500 way more than the hyperboom. You not lying it’s easier to carry around.
I agree very very much with your emphasis on the immersive ability of the Hyperboom, I’m also currently having an issue with turning it on, I usually have to do some odd random ritual with the power button to get it to turn on, any advice? And the app isn’t working to turn on from bluetoooth, but my Sony XB43 has also been having that same issue

I have the XG500 I wanted the ue hyperboom but it was sold out but this is amazing!!! I take it to the football field and when I'm out with friends since it gets loud and it rocks my house with bass but I highly suggest this speaker for outdoor use since it gets real loud and well I like my bass, I respect my neighbors

Hope you can get a hold of the JBL Boombox for a 3 way shootout. That would be tight (and maybe JBL are afraid of being pitted against new comers haha... not that they should be)
The thing is that you need to sound level calibrate (spl) both speakers to equal levels as much as possible to make it far as possible. For setup you have to use some sort of test disc (test tone and have both speakers match at the spl level at that particular tone) and a spl meter (to check what level it's at for example if you want to set it where at a particular frequency they play at 75db, then have them compete from there) . In the past I did reviews for home audio which required a minimum of video essentials dvd and modified radio shack spl meter (the default was inaccurate). The reason why UE Hyperboom won easily is due to it's default spl being louder, in almost all test cases people will perceive louder as clearer and better, I still think it would win if both were spl matched (UE consistently makes better products than Sony imho) but I would like to see it as a more fair comparison/contest.

Thanks for the video man. It's good to find more recent videos on the Hyperboom since most of them are about a year old when this speaker first came out. They're now in stock at places like Best Buy and Amazon. I just picked one up at BB at full price which is fine cause I've always been a fan of UE since their first boom. I'm glad I was able to get one now though since they have been sold out for the last several months. This had been on my wishlist since day one and I was waiting for it to be on sale but that never happened and it probably won't be anytime soon. I love all the features that has compare to the Boombox 2. Remote wake and off is so damn nice. One button playlist is so sick too cause I have it playing my Spotify liked song list automatically when it turns on which saves me some time. I got their Megaboom 3 now and can't wait to pair it up with the Hyperboom when it comes in a week! I'm gonna be using the optical input too to make my 4k projector which already sounds nice even louder and better! I do have an HDMI ARC cable going to it already there is connected to a JBL Bar 9.1 Atmos @ 850W but this Hyperboom will be a nice middle ground. 😁
completely wrong the custom eq from sony is wrongly designed. needs an update because it can't really change the sound. You should use a different equalizer and it will immediately sound a lot more present. More highs, more bass. unbeatable

So I recently purchased this speaker, and the sound is amazing, but the mid tones have to be adjusted with your phone settings and app. But is seems to me that Sony did this purposely. Now when I paired this speaker to the XB43, the sound is epic and flawless. You get the clear midtones from the XB43 and the deep, deep bass and acoustics from the XG500, and it sound is like being at a concert. I feel that they did this purposely for the party connect, and it works. If you have the side to side setting on your phone, it sounds much better that the wide surround sound also.
I’m about to do the same thing! I would prefer the hyperboom because I’m a fan of the ue mega boom line but eBay has the Sony refurbished still for $169 + free shipping. The hyper booms are still selling for about $400 used.

@@walterd7331 it is crucial whether one is interested in creating fair competition. In this video all seriousness and neutrality have been lost. No one even tried to show differences through the respective EQUALIZER .. here it was clear from the start that the hyperboom can only win!
I can boost it up to 10 and it will win easy. I did the same for the Soundcore vs JBL battle I did one round with Soundcore app boost with EQ it won easy I even picked which one was the EQ speaker because it was so easy. But in all my test I leave the EQ on 0 on everything no boost to help a speaker out where it’s lacking. I know people get mad I don’t EQ them. but don’t you expect the speaker to be better when you EQ it so what the point of the battle you basically gave one speaker a unfair advantage from the start. I do have like the bass boosters and all that on of course but I don’t boost stuff to give it a chance. No steroids in the battles 😁 but everyone is welcome to EQ their speakers because some speakers like this one needs. We all like our EQ different as well some people like to max everything up, some like more high less bass, and some people don’t like the high to loud hurts their ears. So EQ can be tricky for me because someone might not like the speaker because the highs I EQed in it even though the default setting don’t sound like that. But it’s a lose lose for me bud everyone is going to try to protect their speaker they have or was looking to buy because it lost and I did something wrong to cheat their speaker or they just don’t like the brand it’s going against 😂. It’s like a sports fan and I love it honestly. @@WannaBuyIt Hey man go with your gut. It's your EARS not our opinions. I am in no way hurt that someone finds the Sony to be less rich sounding. I corrected that by forcing a higher dB amplification feed to it (thus making it even much louder). I can vouch that it gets louder than you'd think if sourced right. Ultimately I am happy with the Sony but if I missed a feature that would be the Optical input of the Hyper. I got around that by picking up a cheapie quality DAC and connecting the TV and Sony to it. Don't let hate the get ya. All ears are different

Yeah speakers are selling out everywhere. Even my connects can’t give me some speakers because they have low inventory. Boom box 2 is one of the JBL said they don’t have much so they can’t send any out for review 😞
I've owned both. I had the gs500 and the hyperboom,,, now I'm back with Sony. It's all in the settings. UE signature clearness is there. It lacks connectivity, it disconnects a lot. I had to take ALL THE BASS on the gs500 down and up the mids and highs all the way. And it's sounds way better BUT THE SELLING POINT FOR ME WAS The Sony covers more ground in sound. I walked away from both speakers and Sony just hugs the rooms DIFFERENT. The UE sounds good and loud but it doesn't hug the room as well.
Being able to use usb out to play music gives the Sony the edge period, both sound good, but if there’s no USB or Sd/TF playback, I can’t deal with that limitation.
Logitech speakers don’t last Yet the Sony will I had a hyperboom and it lasted 4months and I had to trade it in for a Sony XP500 because that’s all JB HI-FI had at the time
I hate that Best Buy doesn’t have hip hop to sample these stereos because they never have hip hop samples. If you like hip hop then go with the hyberboom. The bass is amazing unlike the Sony.
Couldn't get the hyperboom to pair back to my spotify on the cell after testing it on my firestick. Even though it shows connected.....nada. power off to try reboot, wouldn't power back up. Piece of crap going back to the store tomorrow. Totally pissed this was the speaker I wanted but this it utter crap
Did you try contacting UE? I guarantee there was a simple reason for this. I've had my hyperboom since father's day 2020. A buddy had one as well. Both of us have had any issues with pairing. Actually zero issues with pairing of any UE products. We use these all the time, multiple UE products all partied up. Did you use the app, or not?
Hyperboom is so hard to find right now I don’t even think it will be available. But I feel Sony will drop the price they always do big deals around Black Friday hope this is one of them.
The Hyperboom since a year ago has never ever been on sale anywhere. To me it's worth the price tag compare to the more expensive Boombox 2 and I'm a JBL fan as well. Btw the Hyperboom is slowing getting back to stock now. I knew I wanted the Hyperboom since day one but thought I would wait for it to be on sale like my megaboom 3 that I picked up several months ago for $99 or so. Next thing I know the Hyperboom was out of stock for the last couple of months when I was ok with paying the full price for it. I just checked Best Buy earlier and they were on stock again! I didn't hesitate and got it right away. It's coming in a week though which is faster then what Amazon has now which is 2-5 weeks. If you have been waiting for this speaker I would jump on it now before it's sold out again. It's summer time so lots of Bluetooth speakers popular rn.

@@stevetangjt I have both the megaboom 3 and the hyperboom. There is absolutely positively no comparison between the two. The megaboom 3 is only marginally better than the megaboom 2 or 1. They are fine speakers for their form factor. They have that going for them. But if you can handle the extra size and weight of the hyperboom, do it. Actually, if you can swing it, bring the hyperboom and as many smaller UE booms to act as tweeters. You can link up to 99 of them together.
Without wanting to get all audiophile on you - clearly that's not the target market for these speakers - did you try to level match the speakers before you started the comparison ? Louder usually sounds better to most of us and these are definitely intended to be played loud. I admit that messing around with a SPL (aka decibel) meter is overkill but you can get phone apps that attempt to measure sound pressure levels. My Sony XG also had a break in period where its gotten louder and CRISPER sounding. Its a great sounding speaker (if you set it RIGHT)
@@walterd7331 it is crucial whether one is interested in creating fair competition. In this video all seriousness and neutrality have been lost. No one even tried to show differences through the respective EQUALIZER .. here it was clear from the start that the hyperboom can only win!
I can boost it up to 10 and it will win easy. I did the same for the Soundcore vs JBL battle I did one round with Soundcore app boost with EQ it won easy I even picked which one was the EQ speaker because it was so easy. But in all my test I leave the EQ on 0 on everything no boost to help a speaker out where it’s lacking. I know people get mad I don’t EQ them. but don’t you expect the speaker to be better when you EQ it so what the point of the battle you basically gave one speaker a unfair advantage from the start. I do have like the bass boosters and all that on of course but I don’t boost stuff to give it a chance. No steroids in the battles 😁 but everyone is welcome to EQ their speakers because some speakers like this one needs. We all like our EQ different as well some people like to max everything up, some like more high less bass, and some people don’t like the high to loud hurts their ears. So EQ can be tricky for me because someone might not like the speaker because the highs I EQed in it even though the default setting don’t sound like that.
But it’s a lose lose for me bud everyone is going to try to protect their speaker they have or was looking to buy because it lost and I did something wrong to cheat their speaker or they just don’t like the brand it’s going against 😂. It’s like a sports fan and I love it honestly.
I’m neutral I just call it how I hear it. 😁👍🏾 but you are right if you EQ the Sony it might win easy but if I also boost the EQ on the speaker that smashed it easy already will it still win? 🤔

@@WannaBuyIt Hey man go with your gut. It's your EARS not our opinions. I am in no way hurt that someone finds the Sony to be less rich sounding. I corrected that by forcing a higher dB amplification feed to it (thus making it even much louder). I can vouch that it gets louder than you'd think if sourced right. Ultimately I am happy with the Sony but if I missed a feature that would be the Optical input of the Hyper. I got around that by picking up a cheapie quality DAC and connecting the TV and Sony to it. Don't let hate the get ya. All ears are different

Yeah speakers are selling out everywhere. Even my connects can’t give me some speakers because they have low inventory. Boom box 2 is one of the JBL said they don’t have much so they can’t send any out for review 😞

I've owned both. I had the gs500 and the hyperboom,,, now I'm back with Sony. It's all in the settings. UE signature clearness is there. It lacks connectivity, it disconnects a lot.
I had to take ALL THE BASS on the gs500 down and up the mids and highs all the way. And it's sounds way better BUT THE SELLING POINT FOR ME WAS The Sony covers more ground in sound. I walked away from both speakers and Sony just hugs the rooms DIFFERENT. The UE sounds good and loud but it doesn't hug the room as well.

Being able to use usb out to play music gives the Sony the edge period, both sound good, but if there’s no USB or Sd/TF playback, I can’t deal with that limitation.

I hate that Best Buy doesn’t have hip hop to sample these stereos because they never have hip hop samples. If you like hip hop then go with the hyberboom. The bass is amazing unlike the Sony.

Did you try contacting UE? I guarantee there was a simple reason for this. I've had my hyperboom since father's day 2020. A buddy had one as well. Both of us have had any issues with pairing. Actually zero issues with pairing of any UE products. We use these all the time, multiple UE products all partied up. Did you use the app, or not?

Hyperboom is so hard to find right now I don’t even think it will be available. But I feel Sony will drop the price they always do big deals around Black Friday hope this is one of them.
The Hyperboom since a year ago has never ever been on sale anywhere. To me it's worth the price tag compare to the more expensive Boombox 2 and I'm a JBL fan as well.
Btw the Hyperboom is slowing getting back to stock now. I knew I wanted the Hyperboom since day one but thought I would wait for it to be on sale like my megaboom 3 that I picked up several months ago for $99 or so. Next thing I know the Hyperboom was out of stock for the last couple of months when I was ok with paying the full price for it.
I just checked Best Buy earlier and they were on stock again! I didn't hesitate and got it right away. It's coming in a week though which is faster then what Amazon has now which is 2-5 weeks. If you have been waiting for this speaker I would jump on it now before it's sold out again. It's summer time so lots of Bluetooth speakers popular rn.
@@volcalstone Hello, there. Would you compare this HyperBoom with MegaBoom 3?I have recently bought the latter cos HyperBoom is not easy to find. After a few days use, I don't find the MegaBoom 3 improve much other than it being louder and having some more bass than my years old Boom yet less clarity and even muffled while playing intense music. So my only choice now comes to HyperBoom cos remote power on is a must to me. Can't live without it.
@@stevetangjt I have both the megaboom 3 and the hyperboom. There is absolutely positively no comparison between the two. The megaboom 3 is only marginally better than the megaboom 2 or 1. They are fine speakers for their form factor. They have that going for them. But if you can handle the extra size and weight of the hyperboom, do it. Actually, if you can swing it, bring the hyperboom and as many smaller UE booms to act as tweeters. You can link up to 99 of them together.

Without wanting to get all audiophile on you - clearly that's not the target market for these speakers - did you try to level match the speakers before you started the comparison ? Louder usually sounds better to most of us and these are definitely intended to be played loud. I admit that messing around with a SPL (aka decibel) meter is overkill but you can get phone apps that attempt to measure sound pressure levels. This guy seems happy enough with the free phone app he downloaded to compare with his Rat Shack SPL meter.
