'If my grandma had wheels, she would be a truck' Only Benji can come with a proverb like that. I just hope that his Grandma does not find out or loves him a lot.
Abrahamsen pulling the entire peloton from 2,5km to almost 1km after being in the break the entire day is the definition of aura
Its not "aura", its pure strength.
Heart breaks for Roglic, hopefully everyone recovers and is in form for a great Kuss v Rog battle at the Vuelta.
I think Vingegaard will be there too tho
Van Aert does always seem to position himself against the barrier.
I think one of the reasons Pedersen doesn't always arrive in the sprint is because most of the time he'll avoid being last man against the barrier. I know, ironic.
He's also said he'd never be the last man against the barrier in a sprint against Philipsen, but I guess that's par for the course among those guys -- Philipsen is just straight up dangerous.
Wout Van Barrier
I mentioned it earlier in the tour but the 5km rule has completely changed the dynamics of sprints. You can’t get away with a 4 man train anymore as you are having to burn riders much earlier so most teams go into the last 1km with no more than 1 lead out man and the sprints are so messy as not team has control. Will be interesting to see how this impacts team selection at future Grand Tours as the half and half teams don’t have enough for the lead outs. Teams will almost need a sprinter + 5 guys for the lead outs and 2 climbers
I think the 5km rule Highlights that there is just no great lead out at this Tour de France. And whenever thats the case the Sprint gets chaotic because there are just a lot of similar strong lead outs competing against each other.
you described how astana made their team and it's still seems to be ineffective despite cav won the first bunch sprint stage
Van Aert wins that in a walk without the deviation, right?
Van aert wins if someone convince to sprint at the center, 14500 time he gets blocked by the same move
The way Bini uses early sprinters as his lead outs is brilliant. His strategy and timing is incredible. Teams will be begging for him to take a coach position when he retires.
It’s wild because he’s always been kinda bad at positioning. I wonder what clicked this year.
Mike Teunissen gave him an amazing lead out from about 6-700m out
@@frankmurphy9356Agreed. That was a ridiculously good lead out.
“If my aunt had balls, she’d be my uncle” is the one you’re looking for Benji!
It was Bling who tried to get Groenewegen into position, however, Dylan could not hold the wheel.
ASO should have gotten the town to remove those dividers like they removed the roundabout
Roglic never fails to crash out of the TdF
Wasn't his fault for once
@@Ashok_Regiment Partially disagree. BORA should position him safer in the last 20 KMs of sprint stages.
I was just saying this yesterday. His bike handling skills aren't world tour level.
This is a totally unfair take. Dude has won 4 grand tours; he can handle a bike.
😢
Thought the Cav relegation was harsh, the swerve left in the final 100m was McClay's fault.
So sad to see Rogla come across the finish line looking like that
Again.
Jayco needed to ride for matthews today after groenewegen struggled in the early part of the stage.
I’m forever grateful to Bini. He has won me a lot of money wagering on him this tdf
How WVA deserved a win 😢
Roglic is "The Crash Sniffer". I am not blaming him for all of his misfortune, however, it is uncanny has misfortune can find him no matter what the circumstance.
Bini was pure class today. It seems as though his recent success has bolstered his confidence to match his abilities. I hope that Bini is able to complete the Tour without incident and I hope even more that Netflix will be featuring Bini and the significance of what he is achieving in the next season.
Bad luck for Roglic. Who expect someone flying over from the other side of the road chopping you down... . So many crashes happen in 3 weeks of racing. As a GC guy, you really need a lot of luck on your side. Again further prove Pro Cyclists need protective gear (suits) sooner rather than later.
Announcers curse you guys jinxed the peloton yesterday saying it’s been a crash free race this time .
lol
Bini wini, chicken dini!!! 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🇪🇷💚🇫🇷
Roglic will not continue. Bora did not pace strong after the crash, it's very strange to lose so much time with the whole team pacing. They were not fighting. I think Roglic will try to prepare the Vuelta.
Roglic just could not ride faster. He was banged up too badly. Let's hope he did not break anything.
You could see Roglic losing the wheel a couple of times. He was clearly not feeling good at all
There are only 3 things certain in life. Death, taxes, and Roglic crashing
I need to start tracking the poetic-justice stories of this years tdf.
-Bini smashing the green jersey with wins over Deviation Jasper.
-Jonas beating everyone after serious injury and being trash-talked by 2 gc (talented) punks.
-Stage wins by smaller & French teams.
-Cav breaking the recored after crashing out of last years "retirement tour".
How much more fun is to come?! Wout, I'm looking at you, buddy!
Cav from the break.
Why wouldnt Intermarche chase??
They mathematically secure green if Jasper doesnt get points.
@@BenjiNaesenTVyes I know. I think they should chase anyways, Biniam would be favourite for this. Its still TDF stage win at the end of the day
I feel sorry for Roglic but Damm his bike handling skills are shocking!
WVA would have won clearly if not closed by Demare.
Did Primos actually hit anything or did he just grab a handful of front brake and go over the bars as a result?
Looked a lot like a failure to brake leading to a "fuck i need to brake fast" to a "fuck i hit the deck".
He went over Lutsenko who was the first to crash.
No, his front wheel got chopped by the UNO X rider on his left as he deviated to avoid a sliding Lutsenko
🎉. 😅😅😅
I’m a roglic guy. Someone has got to teach him to look ahead! That crash was avoidable. If that would have been pog or jonas, I don’t think they go down.
He literally moved to the side and looked for the space but there was none so he went straight into Lutsenko
Yes, but he had around 2-3 bike length empty space in front & never touched the brakes. Possible it was completely unavoidable, it looked like if he was paying better attention he could have got around it.
He’s a professional bike rider I think he’d have avoided it if possible
@@ghale6632 his history says different…he finds himself in a lot of strange situations.
Could be that he noticed it too late but it all happened really fast, it's not like when you watch it back in slo-mo.
Hawk Tuah
Grmay has hit a rich vein of form, however, he is performing in an average sprint field. I doubt he would have won a stage at the Giro.
If that is an average sprint field, what is an excellent one?
@@arnoldhau1 Three of the top five sprinters are not at the TDF. Think Milan, Kooij and Merlier
The sprint field is deep but lacks the high end guys this year.
You people complain so much. You beat what is in front of you. Simple as. Winning green at the TDF is huge it can do so.
With Milan and Merlier here, Biniam probably wouldn't win more than 1 stage in my opinion.
Lmao again????? Im sorry but roglic isnt winning any more grand tours as long as tadej, Jonas, remco arw racing. Im a big roglic fan but hes washed now
He dropped Remco multiple times yesterday. Roglic is the third best climber in the world and it’s not even close
Fair weather fan
@@matthewheinicke-peart3552 no he didn't. He dropped him and then remco caught up passed him and roglic refused to pull and then he fell like usual. Did you even watch yesterday? Roglic was barely holding on to remcos wheel after he caught back up
@@matthewheinicke-peart3552Remco dropped on purpose there. He didnt wanted to overdo it and just time traild through there. Roglic tried to follow Vingegaard and has gone to deep there. He barely could pull with Remco because he was done
I think Rog is still in 2nd tier alone with Remco, but only when he stays on his bike.
If he can get healthy and ride the Vuelta (assuming he DNS's tomorrow with injury) then we might get the GC battle we all want to see, of RogBull vs Kuss-Lab.
Roglic shouldn’t suffer a time gap. They should take GC times when the crash happened. Race organizer screwed up by not flagging the obstacle.
Visma will protest if organizers do that
Somewhere I agree that organisers should make it safe not just in general but also to minimize the chances of the top cyclists crashing out, so we can watch them battle all year. Like with the terrible Basque crashes last April, we almost missed a battle between the top guys in the Tour and perhaps had a boring Tour / much less people watching and excited about it.
But it's also the riders themselves and the directors pushing them forward that create more speed, panic, dangerous situations, I guess its part of the sport.
@@J-cz7yvu mean Soudal.
@@luiscolon921 I didn’t see Soudal pacing after his wreck…
It would feel much more understandable to put him on the same time, than it felt on the stage before when they actually did and he just fell on his own. Maybe the distance shouldnt be the main criterium.
