- Washington - Mrs. Marguerite Oswald said she told the Warren Commission she believes her son was a U.S. intelligence agent who was "set up to take the 'blame" for President Kennedy's assassination.
Following her three days of testimony before the Commission, Mrs. Marguerite Oswald said she believed her son was "a U.S. intelligence agent set up to take the blame" for the killing. She continued "Who can prove he is not a CIA agent? … He isn't going to say he's a CIA agent, and the government isn't going to say he is."
Mrs. Oswald told a press conference: "Yes, I believe Lee was an intelligence agent, and I so stated to the Warren Commission. … I have as much circumstantial evidence that he was, as the Dallas police that he was the assassin. Being an agent, he would not say it to anyone."
She had everything figured out shortly after the assassination, and here we are nearly 60 years later trying to get documents related to this event from the intelligence community. Smart woman.

She was very sharp. Her confidence in Lee's innocence increased after she saw what a farce the WC was. Me thinks she knew quite a few of the 'inner workings' of what Lee was a part of. Let's leave it there.

That's because she was a first class idiot. A lot of people don't know this but Oswald's mother would refuse to give an interview to the press unless they paid her cash to do so.

She thought Lee was a special agent when he was still in the USSR in 1961. In fact, she went to DC and asked to see JFK...in person. Yes, you read that right. Then asked to see Dean Rusk, then if that isn't hilarious enough, she demanded the US government (taxpayers) help pay for Oswald to be brought home and that she be compensated for her troubles! ("Reclaiming History" pg. 525)
This woman's intelligence, courage and consistency are admirable. She understood from the start things that the masses would understand decades later (especially after Oliver Stone's "JFK"). And she had the courage to always state these things, not caring that she may seem ridiculous or a simple mother who cannot accept the fact that her son assassinated the president of the United States.

Her interviews and lofty indulges about her “investigations” are cringey. By everyone’s account she revelled in the attention and sold every scrap of her sons belongings and even did so to tourists on Dealey Plaza to enrich herself. A true narcissist that could only raise a very dysfunctional son.

Eric Sceiffer, a popular newsman of the day, said this woman was a nutcase and interested in only one thing -- money. He interviewed her for 45 minutes and concluded she was a flake.

History has proven her right. She was portrayed as unstable so they could discredit her. Back then nobody understood how the deep state operated. Kennedy had to go. And her son was set up as the scapegoat. Just as she said.

If you read the contemporaneous accounts of people who dealt with her during this period you’ll see that most reliable sources refer to her as ‘being crazy’ and only concerned for herself and how she would be compensated for telling her story.
Even in her short interviews here on RUclips she doesn’t seem to be a concerned mother (or grandmother.)
Her primary concerns are blaming the government for not protecting the president from her murderous son and deflecting any personal responsibility on her part. She was clearly never in jeopardy of winning any ‘Mom of the Year’ awards.
