Mercury went retrograde for me age 6, this was when my birth mother was killed and I was offically adopted having been with my foster family from 18months old. It then went direct age 30 and thats when I began my journey into finding out information about my biological family and I finally met with someone that was blood related to me, 2nd cousin on my mothers side, and I found out the circumstances surrounding her death. Finding out more about my adoption and coming out of the 'fog' as it is called has been a rollercoaster of emotions since then.

It's just after midnight here on the East Coast of Australia but this is a favourite subject of mine. I'll have more to say tomorrow.
One of the freakish things that happened to me was that my Progressed Saturn Stationed Direct conjunct my 2nd Saturn Return as Saturn was Stationing Retrograde. I was getting used to my career being ripped out from me thru a false allegation. I haven't worked since late 2017. Uranus dancing on my MC was the indicator followed closely Saturn Return on my Natal 2°15 Capricorn. It's affected me at all the Angular points of my chart (Asc / Dsc & IC / MC)
I had the progressed Saturn Retrograde for my whole life till 58!
And I've just met a Taurus who is born 62 days before me, I'm Cancer, and we are 62. Her Progressed chart is exact my Natal chart!

I always enjoy it when you have Nick Dagan Best on the show with his encyclopedic knowledge of astrology and history. I only wish you'd let him finish his thoughts on Ukraine, lol. I also like it when astrologers use Princess Di as an example because I was born 3 days after her so sometimes what is said about her chart can apply to mine. I think it was Catherine who remarked that Diana's fairy tale wedding happened (which I got up at 4 am to watch!) when her progressed Neptune stationed at the age of 19. My progressed Neptune went direct at 16 and my life also seemed like a fairy tale at the time but like Diana the fantasy didn't last. I asked myself what the hell happened for years afterwards before coming to understand it was just Neptune's spell. I will experience Barack Obama's Jupiter and Saturn stations when I am 80 and 85. *This is bizarre* I had a huge unrequited love affair with this girl when I was 16-20. I didn't even want to think about another nor be with another.
It went nowhere. By early 1980 l had finally given up.
On her birthday (29/8/1980) my Progressed Venus was exactly Stationary turning Retrograde. On the very day so this is really big energy.
I met a really nice girl in March 1980 and married her in September three weeks after my Progressed Venus turned Retrograde. I loved her very much but the girl from my teen years haunted me in a subterranean way. I am a Cancer Sun and Asc. I'm also born the same date as Cat Stevens (and we're both Aqua Moon) and his song, _"The First Cut is the Deepest"_ applies to my situation.
We divorced because l couldn't do Church because l felt like a hypocrite. And she is very invested in it. We divorced in 2013.
Now get this. This is so freakish it's not funny. My Progressed Venus turns Stationary Direct at 29°52' Leo and my former wife's Sun is 29°56' Leo. In May next year. I've been partnerless for all this time and I'm hoping May next year's breaks the duck.
    You can't make this up.
And both women had 4 planet stelliums on my Mars, Pluto, Vesta and Venus in Virgo.
I'm also madly in love with Emily Hampshire, Carla Gugino and Rebecca de Mornay: all born 29th August.
I even guessed Carla Gugino was a Virgo because she's a _'dead ringer'_ for the woman from my teenage years. I wasn't surprised by her being born the same day. And watching Schitt's Ck transported me back 45 years. I hardly noticed the other actors.

When neptune stationed retrograde according to secondary progressions in my 6th house, at 17 yo, I was at the peak of my depression which i had since i was a child. It was the year it became so intense I was hospitalised, this lead in this same year to the healing of my depression. Now couple years later I'm still in a relatively decent state of mind. So This neptune station was a very significant turning point in my life. It literally felt like a rebirth year.

Born with Venus Rx 10H (15 hours before the cazimi in Aries) which stationed direct Jan 1999 when I was 22 which was right when I discovered the ability to receive messages from spirit (mediumship) and started to work with it to develop my skills. For a number of reasons I stopped using those skills for a while (for at least a decade until just recently) when I had progressed Venus return to its natal position just last year. Last year was a major turning point in my life with lots of changes, but mostly a significant refocusing of how I see myself in the world and a shift in recognition of my gifts and abilities and how they need to be shared with the world. I made a commitment to focusing my time and attention on self care and self worth development. (Last year was also my Uranus opposition and Saturn opposition period so those probably amplified that). Also started actively learning astrology right at the progressed Venus return (had my first natal chart reading within a few days of the exact progressed Venus return).
I also had progressed Mercury (11H Taurus) station retrograde when I was 14 (coincidentally on my mother’s birthday) and that was around the time when I was in talent shows and also played Glinda in my middle school production of The Wizard of Oz. I feel like that started a whole period where I was learning how to communicate to a crowd, which ultimately influenced my career as a math teacher. Before that I never wanted to be in the spotlight, so speaking in front of a class ever sag wouldn’t have worked. Progressed Mercury stationed direct in 2015, which is when I started to focus more on myself and less on how I looked to others (like less on the performance and more about how I felt when I was living my life, not on how people saw me). Progressed Mercury has been in my 11H the whole time.
I didn’t realize the impact of these things until I watched this video. I wasn’t even aware of the Mercury retrograde until about 2 weeks ago.
Thanks for letting me share and thanks for this great episode!

Saturn stationed direct in November 2012 at 28 Aquarius. I had been studying Jungian depth psychology and existential philosophy for years with groups and had always been hesitant about taking my thinking into the outer world, lots of feeling hemmed in by social constructs about being a woman and studying philosophy etc...within a month of the station direct I sent an email proposing a talk to a local Jung group, within 2 months I decided to attend a conference in Germany of Heidegger professors (lol, I am not a professor) and ever since then I've moved out into the world around developing my own sense of what I believe/think, including becoming a Hellenistic astrologer. crazy.

Cool episode, love Catherine and Nick! Jupiter stationed direct when I turned 12. After begging for years to live with my dad, my mother (has schizophrenia) had a psychotic break and I was able to convince my dad and stepmom to remove us from her house/custody. I was 23 when Mars stationed direct and Uranus stationed retrograde, I got accepted into a saturated dental hygiene program that I was on a wait list for. I pushed my counselor to double check the waitlist on a random call to her and sure enough somebody dropped out and a spot opened up for me. Great Episode! I revisited the Alan White Intro to Hellenistic Astrology that you shared and became curious about the 3rd, 7th and 40th days of the Moon taught by Vettius Valens. Has this been discussed in more depth on any of the podcast episodes? The old calculation suggestion is that the 40th day of the Moon would be in the opposite sign of your Natal Moon which seems like a rough estimate and would often be inaccurate. Any thoughts on this? Is it a technique that benefits from not getting too involved with the accuracy of the ephemeris math? Thanks

That was fun. Sadly, my only experience was extremely young having Mercury and Neptune retrograde natal where they seemingly went direct early in life where I may actually go the rest of my life without anymore. What’s wild is they both went direct back to back. I’ll have to really look into those 2 years.
Fun part.. when Alan White was brought up it reminded me of a song by Alan Wilder. He was a founding member of Depeche Mode who left shortly after nearly dying in a plane crash (a military plane nearly crashed hitting his car while driving and that dramatically changed his view of life where he didn’t want to work on pop songs they were writing at the time..) he left, finding musicians/vocalists to work with to inspect darker sides of life through pop music. One of his favorites has the same voice mentioned where they actually recorded Martin Sheen’s monologue from Apocalypse Now in song format that’s quite fantastic. Recoil - incubus, sure it’s on Spotify.
Humorously. He was guest vocalist on another on that album I immediately remembered because it’s still (to this day) the creepiest song I’ve ever heard which was kinda done as showing the creepy underbelly of modern love/break up pop songs. I used to play it after Taylor Swift songs to show how similar it is. That one is Recoil - Stalker, I’ll just bring it up as humorous defense of the Britney Spears thing. Under every swift song is a desire to destroy and crush her exes. lol (kidding, while being mildly serious. The video has the first (and probably last) fashion model with albinism. Connie Chui.. since it’s come up on other casts, the vocalist is from Nitzer Ebb and there’s a WestWorld episode based on one of their songs Kick It. The man in black episode early season 2, I think. That video is hilarious in that it’s that Matrix 4 Gen x “make something terrible on purpose” thing. Nirvana was the best at that.
Anyways, I’m in the Alan White camp on the astrology being too soft while also intrigued on why others want it softened more. I’m trying to pay more attention to those views with why, this episode kind of helped in some ways because I have natal Mercury retrograde in Leo conjunct sun in the 12th where I’ve seen interpretations of it. I think they’re funny because there’s no basis for saying anything 12th is karmic punishment for being a terrible human being. Other things.. everyone has a 12th house, everyone has malefic planets in non optimal signs.. my favorite is still rahu in 1st. I mostly just find them funny.
Sometimes the podcast reminds me of songs I like, this one’s questionable because I don’t like Nitzer Ebb.. 😂 BUT, the Recoil incubus song can go in the Mars example file because there’s never a shortage of mars expressions in the world. Why I would defend Spears is because she’s a great example of a person who probably never wanted to be famous but was groomed as a child for it where the public and media attacked her relentlessly for being privileged. Envy can destroy others, which is often a public blood lust. Her life is a lesson on parents raising kids that way. It’s possible so many kids growing up wanting to be influencers or famous changed the trajectory of her life, it was interesting to watch that.
I think astrology should be more … can’t think of the best word.. the libra influence, it’s probably quite different than what White had in mind, but better understanding of “malefic’s” seems like a problem that may have been over corrected where the value of them is lost. 8th house aries profection with mars in libra, it’s definitely mixed with positive and negatives despite conjunction with libra Venus. Hopefully the 9th tips that energy better over to Venus because that mars.. despite being very productive, is extremely stressful this year.
Part of me hopes I don’t live long enough for another station-retrograde cycle. I’m curious what happened in my 11th and 12th years of life though. 🤔
I can’t believe Chris inspired me to defend Britney Spears…

I had Saturn stationary retrograde (sec. progr. chart) in the year that I finished secondary school. That year I was elected as the president of the student´s council and that put a lot of responsability on my shoulders besides the ones related with my studies !!! Next year I began the university and got my first paid job, that was responsability at another level !!!
Then at the age of of 20 I had Mercury stationary retrograde (sec. progr. chart) and I quit my job and I went to study to the Soviet Union and that was a great error that made me loose a lot of time but a great advantage because I could see with my own eyes what that big shit was !!! That Mercury retrograde in my sec. progr. chart made a conjunction with my natal South Node and an oposition to my natal Jupiter !!!
Four month later I went back to my country and began another career studies which I finished 4 years later.
Then at age 28 my Uranus was stationary direct (sec. prog. chart) and that year I finished my master´s degree studies and I met my future wife who became pregnat this same year. My daugther was born the next year and I had to start a family.

Okay i was born 10th July 1994 with 4 planets retrograde - Saturn, Uranus, Nep, Pluto. Venus had just went direct on 6th and Jupiter 1st. I would love to see your forecast episode for that month 😂 I am now also very curious at anything significant (other than my birth 🤣) that happened in the world at that time.
Pluto stationed direct 27 days later which is effective for me right now. I have much to learn more about this but a lot is making sense already.

I have 7 stations in secondary progressions. The first was Pluto direct at the age of 4. I have lived a life of extremes and chaos. There were 5 calm, good years when Jupiter stationed Retrograde at 27. I have lived through Mercury retrograde (7) and Mercury direct (32) both chaotic. The worst was Uranus direct at 22. This year is Chiron which was definitely in effective a year ago...it is horrible...I don't remember Pluto...I'm guessing either Chiron is worse or the early in life Pluto station set the tone for life. Jupiter is the best station!

This was really interesting. My natal Mercury in Gemini went sR the day I was born, went sD 13 June which is 23 days after I was born so at 23 I decided to study as Mercury was in a trine aspect to my Saturn in the 9th house. My natal Saturn in Libra 9th house is retrograde and on 18 June it went sD, 28 days after my birth. At 28 certain events happened in my life which ultimately resulted in me moving countries in a very surprising way as I never thought or had any inclination to move cities let alone countries.

Both myself and my brother were born during late Saturn retrograde, 2 years apart. During our progressed Saturn stationing direct, we both made the decision to move from our mom's house, to live with our dad. This happened 3 years apart from each other (brother in 2004, me in 2007). Mercury stationed retrograde in my progressed chart in the same year my brother did that move. It doesn't station direct for me until 2026.

Are we taking Chiron into consideration? It turned rx when I was 3 yo
    * I am not sure if this is correct way to interpret it but around Neptune station direct I started traveling, working and living abroad for short periods of time. My natal Neptune is in Sag, 6 degrees away from my IC (in 4th house). Also a year later I started my relationship with the father of my children who is Pisces (my Dsc )
    * Few months before my progressed Mercury stationed Rx I moved continents (for second time). Mercury is ruler of my Asc and MC. I met my current partner a year later. The chart for this stationing is interesting but I don't think I am able to interpret it in full. I would appreciate if someone gives me a hand with this. Progressed Asc, Mercury, Venus, Mars and Pluto are all conjunct my natal Pluto in natal 2nd house, they also sextile my natal Sun Saturn and Neptune. Progressed Mercury also trines my MC.
    * Upcoming (in 4 years) is progressed Jupiter stations Rx. No idea what this will bring but I am hoping it is positive

Chris, have you done Stationary Direct and Stationary Retrograde planets in the natal chart?
I have 3! Stationary Direct Neptune and a Stationary Direct Jupiter in Scorpio and Stationary Retrograde Mercury in Leo.
People pick me as a Scorpio manifold times over Cancer, in part, because of these placements. Plus l have the 3 most Scorpio aligned planets (Mars, Pluto & Vesta) super conjunct, as well as Venus, in Virgo in the first decan.

@@TheAstrologyPodcast that'll be great. I was married for 33 years and my then wife always said l was Scorpio. We both knew very little about astrology back then. She didn't believe in astrology because l was Cancer born but manifest Scorpio.
I got into it at the time of our separation (2013) and about 6/7 years ago l discovered all the Scorpio energy in my chart that is not real obvious at a casual glance.
      Thanks. Great vid as always

I bet there’s a good chance that you’re already feeling it. Look to see what planets it’s aspecting in your chart for more clues on how it might manifest, but I’d try not to worry! You never know how these things will turn out, and sometimes it’s not even clear until it’s behind us 🙏💫

So basic question here. Is this similar to the Zodiacal releasing technique in that your birth day counts as a 0 year, or is it year 1? Because I see a lot of major life events in my progressed chart that are off by 1 year.

Looking at the Ephemeris (the physical book, Midnight Edition 1950-2050) Pluto went retrograde when I was 8 days old and Mercury, Mars and Uranus went retrograde when I was 4 days old. However, when I pull up my chart in Solar Fire and Astro.com, it only shows Mars and Uranus retrograde. Why would that be?
