I only understood First Aid Kit, and when she said Myspace (and of course the lyrics at the end) but I still watched the whole video. I like their language. Its also amazing how well they sing in english.

The reason why both their Swedish and English is so good, is because they were born and raised in Sweden but they attended an International English School, where they spoke English all day. Although, I'm not so sure if Johanna did, but I know that Klara did since I knew her a bit last year. THERE, now people won't be confused anymore.

so know what you mean noddy.. think that's what i love about sigur ros, they just invented their own to both avoid the language complexities and perceptions and also create one of the most beautiful instruments in the world.. hopelandish echoes..

@newsy8 They are Swedes. They, like the Danes, Norwegians and Dutch usually speak perfect English at a more or less native level. We British, on the other hand....

They are from Sweden so they talk Swedish. You have a translation of the whole interview into English above! Just read the comments from "anotherdiamonday"

Throughout history there has always been a language that is 'en vogue' in the culture scene. If you read 'War and Peace' by Tolstoy, you will encounter Russian aristocrats speaking in French because in their time that was the cool thing to do among the social elite. Just because English is 'the cool thing' amongst song-writers right now, doesn't mean it wont be surpassed 50-100 years down the road.

They should record some songs in Swedish. I dont speak it but although I accept that english is a universal language, I worry about it being a form of colonialisation and cultural oppression. Kusummen proffeeta, The Finnish band whose first acoustic album is in Finnish and it adds to the mystery for me!

@kermicheo Yes, but she's still a kid. Look for a video here in which they sing with Lykke Li (Silent Song) and see what a few years have done to turn the kid into an incredibly beautiful and sophisticated woman.

Why do you think their hair covers their ears? It's because they're of the Elvin race and they cannot yet afford the plastic surgery costs to have their pointed ears mended.
