- This protest song was written in the early sixties by Buffy Sainte-Marie. It's about individual responsibility for war. We wanted to sing this song because, unfortunately, what Buffy sang about at her time is still is so true today and will probably be so for years to come. We changed the lyrics a bit to make it more relevant to today's society.

I'm so glad I happened to click on the videos of First Aid Kit.There's nothing more powerful than their voices versus the electronically manipulated "crap" that is out there today. This is as raw as it gets and I for one like it a lot! This is what true tallent is all about.. You girls are simply AWESOME!!
When I watch this, I feel like I've been shipped back to the late 60's. They're voices, they're clothes, the songs meaning - its awesome.
I grew up with Buffy's version and thought I would hate this but its absolutely brilliant. They nailed the message and emotion with a modern twist. The song makes me think of my late father who fought in WW2 and how it affected him.

I've just discovered these lovely ladies tunes. They are AMAZING!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it took me this long to even know about them. Brilliant voices. I'm 60 and I try to keep up with the music that comes out. I certainly missed the bus, on these 2.

Your voices sound so much like the 60's folk music, but modern. I love your music. I grew up hearing all of this kind of music. My mom always sang to us when we were little.
I bought Donovan's 45 rpm of Universal Soldier in the 1960s .... Thank you for updating and carrying on Buffy Saint Mrie's message of peace and personal choices. It may be more important now than it was when I was young. I was 16 when I bought that record. I'm 62 now, and true peace still eludes us.

That's quite a version. Often don't like covers of my favourite songs, but this totally captured the mood of the Buffy Sainte-Marie and Donovan versions, while being totally your own.
These two girls, unfortunately do not sing many songs that I like, however I have never heard anyone, (including Dillon and Buffet San Marie), inject as much feeling a meaning into this song making The Message so much more powerful than before. I wish them well.
