There are four sets of guest elevators in the atrium. All of them go to ML-LL-AL-10 with each set spanning from 1-17 (3 elevators), 18-30 (4 glass elevators), 31-41 (3 glass, 1 contained), 42-47 (2 glass, 1 contained). Additionally inside the "Hotel staff" nook in the center of this elevator core are 6 staff elevators which all go to P2-P1-IL-ML-LL-AL-10-25 with one half going from 1-25 and the other 25-47. (I can provide a photo). Additionally the parking elevators are P2-P1-IL-ML-LL and the pulse loft elevator is AL-GS and still has the 70s carpeting (along with the entire IL level). Before the mid 2000's, "AL" was "GL" (Garden Level); "ML" was "CL" (Convention Level), and "IL" was "EL" (Exhibition Level).
And so here's the million dollar question [and this is for Jacob (AKA RUclips's The Elevator Channel)! Since you both visited the Marriott Marquis in New York and now Atlanta, GA; which of the two hotels (as well as their elevator systems) do you like better? The one in NYC, or the one in the ATL?
I actually loved those fixtures but it would be better if the buttons light up in blue instead of white. Beautiful architecture, kinda reminds me of the Pan Pacific Singapore.
I was in hotlanta for 2 days and my dad's work got Marquis rooms half off so I did this And I had the worst and anxiety attack of my life on the elevator
Question: I saw some videos of the scenic ones pre-modernization, and they had floor indicators on top of the cars. (Andrew had a pretty good take) Did they take those indicators out in the modernization?
Beautiful hotel, great elevators! My question though, is this: if the scenic elevators only serve some of the floors, how do the rest of the floors get elevator service?
+Specialty Elev8ors and UEE's by Technicalboy3000 I would have not modded these at all or If they would get modded have gotten Compass or CompassPlus If I owned the place. Then it would compete with the one in NYC. As for the Series 2's, they actually are not original, they were originally Series 1 Elevonic 401 as well, but they were modded sometime in the Late 1990's or Early to Mid 2000's (possibly 2007 when they did the lobby renovation). The Pulse loft elevator was originally a Otis Series 1 Hydro, but was modded with Innovation Bruiser in 2007. Since the hotel's opening in 1985, the hotel has received no renovations at all (except for the convention center and lobby renovation in 2007) until last year. The rooms were really dated and aging. I thought this was an amazing place to ride elevators, and I wish they weren't modded, but the hotel was in bad need of a renovation. I will be staying here again in September, and I will make a vlog about updates, and I will try to get permission to ride the service elevators so I can find out if they have been modded or if they are original. I HOPE they are still original.
+Floridian Elevators According to ems318, otis says "the service elevators are modded". I can't wait to see the updates on this place. You need to get to the hilton because those elevators are probably in the process of a mod.
+Specialty Elev8ors and UEE's by Technicalboy3000 The hotel really needed the renovation. I wish the mod didn't happen though, but the mod isn't bad!!!
Floridian Elevators I would have been so much further happier of Schindler modernized these with PORT or if ThyssenKrupp completely replaced the elevators with Momentum or if OTIS HAVE JUST LEFT THESE ALONE
i'm no elevator person but i gotta admit it,those elevators looks pretty cool though I don't really like riding in elevators because i do get those moments where i'm like saying to myself I hope I don't get stuck in the elevator.
+The Elevator Channel I think they were so smart to have The Weather Channel playing in the elevator. *Note to owners: don't ever build an open grated skybridge across the top floors!* I love how much natural light is admitted into the top of the building by the skylights. I actually have an imaginary character who actually has laws in place in a fictional version of this place that require the atrium to be turned into an aquarium for the public to swim in and to have TV-enabled elevators like these in every new building built and old buildings retrofitted to have informational TV screens inside the existing elevators. As fun as I think it would be to have a model train running on those grills for show, I also think the grills were installed for suicide prevention. They could have the trains push people who try to jump back onto the floor behind the grill like the super vintage cartoons show.
A lot of the elevators were broken that day because of the cheerleaders as you may know there was a big cheer competition that same weekend (they were everywhere in my hotel, and maybe even yours too) and it was too overwhelming for the main elevators but they ended up opening the staff elevators to the cheerleaders so if anything breaks it wouldn't effect the more business oriented guests. On my elevator bank, 2 were broken and there were 4 to choose from. it was kinda cool because it was broken right outside of my 4005 room, so I could look into it and it was quite unique. I still find it pretty cool that we stayed on the same days.
+Specialty Elev8ors and UEE's by Technicalboy3000 Yes they were stuck. i saw 2 that were mid floors and it had the -- indicator on the inside of the cab. If i can find the picture i'll post it as a imgur link but i'm not currently at my computer
I don't think that's a fair argument. These are hotel elevators, sure they serve 50 floors but its made for hotel use, where the One World Observation Deck is made to carry tons of people crammed in a lift and were specifically built to do so.
Steven Kokko You've got to understand. ThyssenKrupp builds elevators to very high standards and the way those 5 sky rockets can handle a huge and heavy crowd and still go 2000 ft/min and you barely notice is just amazing. But the Otises getting stuck is one example of how Otis's new Variable Frequency Upgrades and Series 7 mods suck butt. Lucky this is the only case of an Otis Series 7 getting stuck _ever_
but they were like I said specifically built to handle so many people, where the mariott marquis aren't made to be jam packed full. If the goal was to get as many people on to the hotel elevators and carry as many as they possibly can, i'm sure Otis would of been built with more durability and tougher motors, but once again they're just hotel elevators...
I love you so so many amazing things are the same people who have a good day and love to have you on all the days you can follow and follow back so you have pretty k the only

1-17 has 4 elevators, not 3
50 floors in 30 sec, that’s serious skyscraper speed
This place is so worth it I am lucky I live close to it
I’m in heaven with these
Happy 30th anniversary to elevator photography as we know it
To sum up everything I'm thinking of and to make it easier on all of us, THIS VIDEO WAS GREAT!!!
I am going there soon and heck no I ain’t walking steps first I am riding that first I love the elevator

As of March 2024. All 3 of these have the floor passing chimes again.
Thank you. I’m going to experience these soon.
@@armandovias Good. Film em'. If I lived in Atlanta. I would ride these all day.
@4:21 - Wow, talk about perfectly timed music. I love how it ended basically right when you got to the bottom floor!
Sounds like the weather channel
These things are so fast I could ride on them all day :-D
Stayed here as a young child once. Broke down screaming on one of those. They go down too fast lmao
view from the tall elevator is impressive.
I actually loved those fixtures but it would be better if the buttons light up in blue instead of white. Beautiful architecture, kinda reminds me of the Pan Pacific Singapore.
Had a room on the 47th floor here years ago what an awesome view
I was in hotlanta for 2 days and my dad's work got Marquis rooms half off so I did this And I had the worst and anxiety attack of my life on the elevator
I think it's because you may have not have been on a high-rise elevator, none of the less, one that is glass looking out to a 47 floor atrium.
I’ll be ok riding these because I’ve watched so many videos of these on RUclips.
Hotlanta 😆
Awesome vid! When you get back over on Atlanta can you check out the Marta trains?
I kind of also wonder where the counter weights are for the glass elevators.
They are next to one of the guide rails
Question: I saw some videos of the scenic ones pre-modernization, and they had floor indicators on top of the cars. (Andrew had a pretty good take)
Did they take those indicators out in the modernization?
Yes. There were two LED/VFD floor indicators instead of the one + the LCD screen.
Beautiful hotel, great elevators! My question though, is this: if the scenic elevators only serve some of the floors, how do the rest of the floors get elevator service?
There's 3 different banks of scenic elevators around that circle. The other 2 serve the lower floors.
Thanks for the info! I always enjoy your videos.

Have these elevators been modernized at some point. What where they originally.
Otis Series 1, Elevonic 401
Just the part of hotel renovation
I love the hotel and the elevator modernization, even though I miss the old elevator.
I love everything except the mods the elevators got. I must say otherwise the hotel got a good reno.
+Specialty Elev8ors and UEE's by Technicalboy3000 The hotel really needed the renovation. I wish the mod didn't happen though, but the mod isn't bad!!!

my top Marriott ever stay inn because that lobby!

Otis provides great elevator service and this was a great mod. They probably got overloaded which caused the elevator to shut down.

This looks like a very nice hotel; I've seen some pictures of some rooms on Google and they look so nice and modern!
do a trip report to omaha or orlando please
Used to be Otis Elevonic 401 elevators before mod
The hotel reminds me of the film 'High Anxiety' with Mel Brooks
Hunger games catching fire part 2 had parts of it filmed here.
That film wasn't shot there.
@@seanhamilton4169 I Don't know about the Hunger Games but as I said it 'reminds' of the hotel in 'High Anxiety'
these elevators i think used to be the worlds fastest elevators
still very fast got to chew gum in that elevator going up top so my ears wont pop
Not the world's fastest but they're still fast
I was only on the lobby levels when I was there

The chime sounds sick
Only in the glass
Yea

I don't think the parking elevators need to be modded. You probably weren't pressing the button hard enough
