Like many of you fellow pickleball addicts I have spent a lot of time trying to learn from youtube videos. I’ve seen most of the content creators. Tony and CJ are bar none the best. Their three pillars of pickleball makes so much sense. Watching this video has already improved my game and I haven’t even been to the courts yet. Pickle on!
This is solid gold. I'm participating in their TPS at this time. It's requiring a complete restructuring of my play and mindset. I've been stuck for years as an inconsistent 3.5. For the first time, I believe their path will get my game to 4.0. It will take a lot of work because I've imbedded so much poor shot selection and execution into my game over the years. Being a stubborn fool doesn't help either but their training is slowly sinking in.
Hello Nate. Really appreciate the shoutout. It can be difficult to change from what we have become accustomed to. Keep with it. Your pickleball world is about to dramatically change.
Almost forgot to mention - look out for a podcast dedicated to this post. There is a lot to unpack here that can be helpful to players looking to improve. Thanks again for sharing about your journey.
For tip #5 to do higher 3rd shot drops... I've noticed when I do that the ball bounces higher giving them opportunity to drive it back over the net rather than dinking. Any tips on high to do a higher 3rd shot drop to avoid the net, but also avoiding the higher bounce?
Think of the placement of your third. Try to place it somewhere where they have to move to it or on their non-dominant side. Also - you do not have to make it up in 1 shot. Take your time moving forward.
You missed a use case....banana serve. Serving from the right side its fun to pull someone off the court or push the net player off the middle with a banana that looks like its going to hit them then drops in.
This is a common misonception (no criticism). The issue with attackable balls is not their height. It is their depth. Most pro players hit their third shots pretty high (much higher than rec players). Hope this helps.
Q: Tip #5 makes good sense but hitting a lob-type serve seems to directly contradict Rule #4. If that type of serve is hit, you're immediately giving up the net to the opponent. That type of serve needs to be hit deep.

Thank you Nomad. Appreciate the shoutout. Glad the three pillars and this video proved helpful. Glad to have you with us.
Being fairly new to the game I make all the mistakes you highlight. Time for a reality check and some humble pie. Great video. Thanks.
Getting started on the right foot is awesome

Great tips! I will be concentrating on these 5 tips, one at a time, until I lock each ,singly, down, then move on to the next tip. Thanks, Tony!
That’s a great approach. Focused process.
Brilliant. All the mistakes that I make on a daily basis laid bare. Thanks for improving my game.
Glad to help. One mistake at a time. :)
Might be my favorite of your videos so far! This is bookmarked!
That is quite the bar this video passed :). Hello LC. hope you are guys are living la vida.
Great tips. Will try to implement one tip every day and consciously try to keep them on my mind till they become automatic.
Ty Plumbed. That’s the right approach
These are the best tips i have watched. Thank you.
Thank John - glad they helped.
Great tips. So much truth to amateurs trying for too much on every dink or drop.
💯
Awesome tips! Thank you!👍👍
Thanks for letting us know Patrick. Keep at it.
Very good video. Now I just need to remember when playing.
:)

Great tips. I hit too many into the net myself. Thanks.
As we all do Barry :). Focusing on the net can really help.
Excellent video. Nicely done.
Ty Chuck
SUPER HELPFUL
Thank you
Can you do anything about turning 70 and being stuck? 🤣
I wish :). Seriously though, 70 is new 50
Love #2 Less is more! I think a lot of us fall into this category... For me its the placement of my soft punch. Thank Tony!
100% Tony.
I’ve played since 2006. I’ve always used placement and finesse over power every time.
@@maryhurst4663 awesome approach

I hope I do not have to see that serve :)
lol, I feel seen. :)
Love it. :)
tip number 5 what if the opponent is tall and has length? Couldn't he or she just smack that ball in the air?
This is a common misonception (no criticism). The issue with attackable balls is not their height. It is their depth. Most pro players hit their third shots pretty high (much higher than rec players). Hope this helps.
👍
👍✌️
Fantastic information!
Thank you Dennis. Glad it resonated with you.
Thanks Tony. Tip #1 is today's objective.
That’s a good one for sure.
