- Vocal Coach Reacts To Alicia Keys - John Mayer - If I Ain't Got You - Live - Ken Tamplin
The incredibly talented Alicia Keys can do it all.
A classically-trained pianist, she was composing songs by age 12 and was signed at 15 years old by Columbia Records.
Her debut album was a success both critically and commercially, selling over 16 million copies worldwide and earning her 5 Grammy Awards.
She has gone on to win 15 Grammys and sold over 65 million records.
For today’s performance Alicia will be joined by the equally talented John Mayer.
John picked up the guitar at 13 after watching Michael J. Fox’s guitar performance as Marty McFly in Back to the Future.
Heavily influenced by blues and rock, he has collaborated with blues artists such as B. B. King, Buddy Guy, and Eric Clapton.
John has gone on to sell over 20 million albums worldwide.
Performing together, the two have a tremendous amount of synergy. They will be singing and playing Alicia’s hit “If I Ain’t Got You”.
Check out their performance and let me know what you thought!

Ken's videos never cease to put a smile on my face. He is just so warm and friendly and very likeable.
Thanks Maggie!
I agree !!!
@@juanluistr5073 Totally agree
😂😂 I was thinking the same thing. It's not only the way she looks at him, but also the way she laugh like a child when he started to sing! I think she really admire him!
Would love to see something focused on just John Mayer!
Thanks for the suggestion, K Frizzle!
@@kentamplin Thanks for your videos!
@@kfrizzle1230 John Mayer and Keith Urban "Sweet Thing". This two are masters of guitar playing. Check this out.
John Mayer and Tony Bennet!!
You are right, Ken! It doesn’t matter that the artists didn’t hit every note, but look at their faces…how happy they are making this “pearl” together! And all musicians, background, Questlove are in a natural chemistry! Good choice !
Think every woman on planet feels like that ♥️
Didn't like the collab
Think just love John Mayer so much
Everyone else seems to pale into significance 🤩🤩
she was super sick for this but refused to cancel.. very cool
I am a fan of her and his voice sounds diferent since 2012. Maybe damage vocal. His greatest era is the as i am (2007-2008)
I love alisha's soulful voice, but I came for Kens shirt👍
Thank you Ken for video reaction.
Haha, Thanks David!
I know, right ? I'm always expecting his shirts ! lol
Alicia did the original backing vocals on gravity! This is a monumental performance I think.
Awesome!
Ken and his stories... I love it 👍
And great performance 😊
Thanks Erik!
I was having an depression spiral at 3:39am this morning, and I saw this video, and it felt like sunshine on my face after a long winter. thank you.
Lovely! 😀
It’s a very theatrical performance in the respect that you mentioned the way they sing to each other. Amazing chemistry and synergism! That’s what I love about theater. Two amazing singers!!
Alicia is just Adorable her True personality always comes through in her performance
She's great, Kent!
Alicia Keys looks like that at everyone. She is always super engaged with anyone she does a duet with, she seems very genuine.
I've never seen that vid before.. Thank-you 4 the opportunity.. Beautiful song
Yeah Alicia Keys & John Mayer! Thank You for reacting to this Mr. Tamplin!
God, I love Alicia. Her songs and singing are so honest. This song has to be one of my all-time favorites
It's a great one, Warren/Castro 2020!
I appreciate the musicianship of this. In this case, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. As you said Ken, everyone played for the song. Beautiful.
I love Alicia’s tone!
The Joe Cocker of guitar playing. 😂 Pretty accurate. BTW Ken I love your shirt. Very cool.
Awesome duo!!! Love the way they sing to each other. Interesting how they come together!!! Thank you Ken!!!
Ken my husband and I Jason Hayward always look forward to you everyday! Your awesome!!!!
John Mayer defiantly has a unique voice. Would love to see more of him on here
Noted Kyle! 👍
They are both fantastic artists. Love your videos Ken.
Yes, agree, they’re cute and magical together 🥰
Rock on!
As a busker who stands in front of a busy convenience store for 2 to 3 hours every day playing a beat up old acoustic & singing for tips over the sound of traffic and cars pulling in and out, sure, performing outside can be tricky.
You are a total boss if you can sing and play piano at the same time. Alicia always plays the right keys😁
These two have moments of blending just beautifully together!
Loving that shirt!
Great video.
I nearly missed it, your videos don't pop up on my RUclips list anymore, I have to search you out now.
It's great to hear an enthusiastic critique of a great performance.
I see John Mayer... i click like... this one is epic ♪♫♪♫ ♥
Glad you're here, Michael!
VAN MORRISON!!! NOW you're talkin' Brown Eyed Girl ..whoa what a song.. GREAT catch, Ken
Another great video from "Comment Ken" Great to see artist that are complimentary.
Haha, I'm glad you enjoyed it, Dan!
Awesome reaction video Ken!👍 An cool shirt too! Alica keys an John Mayer are excellent!!!👍Another favorite is Susan Tedeschi Trucks band!!😁👍
Thanks, dan!
Ken, your positive energy implies such good vibes and enjoyment on your videos. In addition to the knowledge you share.
I appreciate that!
She's flat in places. A breath of fresh air, I think.
Please do a reaction of John Mayer and Keith Urban singing "Don't let me down" ❤️ I love your videos btw 🥰❤️.
Thanks for the suggestion! 👍💜🎤
Sweet thing !!!
Joe cocker joke was awesome!
Never one single time have you wore the same shirt twice! You must have quite a collection and they're all very beautiful. Keep up shining your beautiful light. You give Americans and Christians a damn good name with your testimony and your fruits. Thank you also for being a good father to your children and provider to your family.
Shine on Baby!
Wow. Thank you so much. You made my day, week , year! 😊
And I can't thank you enough for the improvements to my singing abilities... I've sang music on thr streets all over Europe and the USA but I seemed to plateau and getting worse (!) till I discovered your free videos. I working on getting your full course soon in preparation for Mardi Gras 2023 in New Orleans
Love you, Ken, you’re awesome 👏🏽
Love you too, Thiago! Rock on!
Huge JM fan and I would love for him to cover Brown Eyed Girl! Gotta love a good jam session! Also, I always thought they may have had a "thing" by the way they feed off each other and how she looks at him.
Yes, there does seem to be mutual admiration there. Rock on!
I know this comment is late, but I believe this was from the Dick Clark new years eve show. It was freezing!
She loves him. Don't know if it is music love, or other love.
John Mayer recently done Bruce Springstien's Tougher than the Rest at a Dublin show and it was awesome! Give it a listen.
This is one of my favorite clips of all time!
I'm happy to hear that, JeppeDanielsen!
John Mayer has a great tone. In my opinion.
Idonotnoseyou👍
Alicia is fantastic, isn't she? And John really deserves a dedicated video indeed. I heard the issues he had, had to do with what's responsible for this beautiful smoothness in his voice.
Ken, it would be interesting to see you reacting to Serj Tankian's voice/singing.
Also I could listen to John play guitar all day long
The respect between them is incredible and Alicia actually helped write Gravity and you can her her voice on the harmonies towards the end of the studio version. Love John so so much and Alicia is a tremendous songwriter. Too bad shes married to Swizz Beats :((
Thank you, Brandon.
John completely wrote it himself but she did provide background vocals at the end of the song
Hi Ken, great shirt (again)! You are such a LA guy...that’s a good thing, very cool.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
I think the reason Alicia Keys is singing softer is to match John Mayer's voice.
Gracias y saludos cordiales desde Mallorca para ti también Ken tamplin felicidades
There's something about live music in NYC
Luv your shirt =)
Brilliant as ever Ken to get your insights.
Wilf Adams . Thanks so much!
I have a twinkle in my eye too when I look at John he’s a god.
Rock on! 👁️
9:17 Not Brown Eyed Girl… but he did do Brown Eyed Women with the Grateful Dead!
Thanks for clearing that up, Vinnie!
Ken, it's so wonderful and funny listen to you. Also interesting of course!
So, I was forgetting Alicia Keys and John Mayer :-)
Joke, They're great ..also all the band!
(but I specially love Alicia.. amazing musician - also J. Mayer is amazing
guitarist).
Thanks Ken for this video.
Ps: at some point towards the end of song you mentioned Larry Carlton ...
Yes, there is that sound and phrasing! You're right!
Another amazing musician!
I love your hair
Edit: who doesn’t have a sparkle in their eye when they look at John?
😊
If you wanna hear John sing some classics there is always "Don't let me down" covered by him and Keith Urban at the Crossroads festival, as well as John's cover of "American Pie" on David Letterman's Lateshow. Enjoy!
👍
@@kentamplin I would love to see a reaction to either of those performances, have a good one!
Would love hear your opinion on John Mayer singing Free Fallin Live at Nokia Theatre
He has sung Brown Eyed Girl on Jimmy Fallon with the Grateful Dead, it's so good. Check it out
I will!
@@kentamplin it would be awesome!!
He did Brown Eyed Women with Dead & Company (and they play it often) but I think Ken meant it would be great to see John perform Van Morrison's Brown-Eyed Girl.. and I would love to see it too!
This is the first time I see a video of you ... Alice Keys brought me here ... by the way it seems that they flirt ... I loved them !! by the way you have a new subscriber!
good quote from Proverbs!!
More John Mayer
tumuchku turuu👍
Exactly they have that something that makes one sit up and take notice.😎
Yep
Beautiful !!!!@!
💜💜💜
Ohhh so now i got someone who thing the same as what i feel about .... Ha hahahaaa
I like your smile you look so very kind and good people... and so humble too.
I don't know if you speak French or not, but you could review Coeur de Pirate.
If not, if you do old stuff, maybe some Sundays. I like the song Summertime.
Just a thought.
Thanks.
I love your shirt Ken.
Thanks Maria Day!
Some singers could sing the phone book and it'd be a hit.💖
👍
Also. Did u say John was "good"? Lol. I hope that was intentional understament. Lol. Bb king called him the best living guitar player. Easy top 10 Ever. Steve vai. John mayer Jimmy page. Hendrix. Clapton. Harrison. J Perry. Buddy. Gary Clark jr. Gary moore Also u mention Brad Paisley who's another freatand underrated guitar player. He did a duet w John. Why Georgia why. Check it out and keep up great content bro
Thank you, Lee.
When did B.B. say that?
thomas w He never did
@@itstomis it was Eric Clapton that said it
john mayer is not only an amazing guitarist, but also an amazing lyricist imo. both these things completely outshine his vocal abilities. stop this train is in my opinion one of the most beatifull and heart wrenching songs when it comes to the lyrics
Hey
Enjoyed watching & listening to you and the Artistes this evening, thank you very much.
I used to be able to sing, but didn't realise, haha, was in the school choir, six of us up to age five, six, seven. Then I had my tonsils and adinoids removed. After that, I could not sing, said the teacher who put her ear to my mouth when I was around seven. I had the lead in a school I dunno opera type show. Kathay it was called, or the second word was. The teacher told me sit in the choir for the choruses, and mime. I've done so ever since xxxxx
Well, that was a long time ago and one person's opinion. Let go. Go sing, it's good for you!
Would love to see a cover or reaction video for John Mayer? Great video Ken!
Thanks for the suggestion, Sam!
One leg stand reminds me of Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull
for an old guy, you really have adapted well to this whole youtube thing.... really well. the old guy thing though....i wish it were easier to find more magellan or shout stuff, OF COURSE. you still seem like a good guy ken, cheers.
Thanks, lackthrowofficial!
Ayo my mans not old
Would love to see an reaction to Keith Urban "sweet thing" or "somebody like you". In my opinion Keith Urban reminds me a lot of Ken Tamplin. Both are great singers and guitar players and have that positivity in their sounds.
Thanks for the suggestion, Simon!
You cracked me up with they make a cute couple , that was cute. Love your shirt.
Hi Ken ... wow great shirt!!! Great review as ever ... yes great duet, couple ... not sure they would last!!! ... Yeah Brown Eyed Girl, even some old Free tunes! Could he handle those?!!! I'm sure he could! Great band too! Hope you are keeping well, cheers 👊
Thanks for your comment, Tubetart!
They should tour together
👍
A sign of a really good guitar player is making weird faces while playing ken 7:27
It's a requisite.
Alicia Keys! Yay!
Idonotnoseyou☺️
React to Shakira best live vocals... please! I love you! 😍❤
Thanks for the suggestion, Tu vieja!
6/18/2021 - 2 years later
Please hear and let us know, Marti Pellow, Wet Wet Wet - Blue For You (Live) - Royal Albert Hall - 3rd November 1992::
I mean, Wet Wet Wet were so underrated, and i swear that guy can sing, too bad he didn't get recognized that much. That live version says it all he owns that stage.
Karl Watson has the best version and sound quality - Nevermind the visuals, they are 30 years old lol :D
👍
Great performance
Ken you are a real romantic..refreshing ☺ Alicia Keys is a great vocalist, performer and beautiful. Love John Mayer too.
💜
This is such a great performance man she is very talented pitchy but she can get away with it cause she's Alicia keys
That was great.
It sure was!
Ken, would you do a reaction to Bublé's and Shelton's "Home" duo? Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestion, Vee D.
It's seems little if not rehearsed at all. Which makes it sound like a jam session. Love it that it's so just loose
I love it too, Lee!
You mentioned Joe Cocker... it would be so good to hear your reaction to him. All time favorite from my childhood :)
Thanks for the suggestion, Gábor!
Thanks for this! How about some P!nk?
Thanks for the suggestion, Mysti!
They have a great song call Lesson Learned. It's on her 1st or 2nd album. Please give it listen 🇺🇸😊💕
Rock on!
Now it's time for Florence Welch! :D
Please react to linkin park given up live Milton Keynes 2008
Did anyone noutest the great shirts of Mr.Tamplin,😀
bruh sir ken tamplin you are so charismatic
😊
Btw. Love you Ken ❌⭕️
Love you too, Susan!
Latex gloves? Hmm. I'll have to try that. I played outside a couple times in our classic rock cover band and it can be tough. Had the sun in my face once. Thank goodness I had glasses...
Matty C.Let me know if it helps you.
They definitely could make a great couple. Haha
How's the weather down there? 😟
Thanks for the gloves tip!
You bet!
hey man, I would love to see you do a video on John Mayer's cover of American Pie!
Great suggestion!
Ken, this was a great vid. It made me think of another duet you could react to. It's Tom Jones and Little Richard singing a rock and roll medley live from 1969. It's on youtube and is a great piece of footage. Would love to hear your thoughts on it!
Thanks for the suggestion, jchessermusic!
Love Alicia
