    Good job girl.
    Now you're getting close to me again Branson Missouri
    I live about 62 miles north of Branson. 10 Mi north of I-44 Hood's truck stop.
    And when I first started tarping.
    My cheap boss gave me rubber rope for tying down that was about a pain in the ass especially when they're not came off and hit you the damn mouth..
    My trailer was a 42 ft utility with J Hooks outside frame 12 inches per side. It weighed less than 10,000 lb so I used to come out of Eureka with 52,000 legally.
    Down to Southern Cal.
    Back then I even use rope to tie down with. Bags and shingles.🤷🏽‍♂️. Be safe beautiful happy trails.💖💖🤘🏾🤟🏽🤙🏾👍🏽✌🏽😊😎🙋🏽‍♂️

    Howdy Becca , as a long time flatbedder you did Great in showing the basics for someone who may not know , one bit of advice - And maybe you do this but were "" off sorts "" with trying to video this time , This tip is for those windy days when your laying out the tarps , get your bungee's out and unwrapped / loose so if the wind picks up you can grab one quick and get the 4 corner's hooked to hold before wind carries it Off and your rerolling it again and starting over , Just a Tip , Safe Travels 👍👍👍👍

    I remember my tarping days 😂 1 time I picked up a cement sack load on pallets in San Jose CA. My delivery was to S.F. bay area CA. I picked it up got loaded the sun was shining just so warm and beautiful. I called my boss and asked that can I just drive and deliver it to S.F. without tarping since it is blue sky no clouds in sight and being a short drive so he said, go ahead and drive and haul the load without tarping if it is a nice dry day. Ok, I went on my way and as soon as I drove over the Bay Bridge I could see some clouds in a area in the city and sure enough just as I got to the yard where my load was delivered so, while I was un strapping the load it started to rain, but not hard. Ok, so when the forklift driver came closer to the trailer he asked me that did you have it tarped I said no, he said I need to go and talk with my boss before I can unload the load since the top layers on the cement sacks may have gotten wet and then ok, no good. Ok, !ong story Short. My boss said that ok the customer don't want the load so drive back to our yard with the load and park the truck and come in to the office 😮 I came back to the yard I parked the truck with the cement load and when I entered the office, the boss said, pack your bags take everything out from your locker and come and see me. I got to his office and he said : You are fired 😂 and I said GOOD 😊 now, I don't need to tarp anymore in my life and that day was my best day ever in my life ❤ So, it was meant to be. It's so crazy to tarp these loads ok, I understand why but it sucks 😂😂😂😂😂😂 So much work, open to hurt your back as I did many times so no thank you. Looking at this, memories came back so I wanted to share my story here. Gosh, having to tarp loads just to much and not enough money. Having to tarp gosh, you really feel like a dog. So, I started to haul van trailers, no more tarping hallelujah ❤😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

    Throwing your straps over the tarps provides better securement for palletized bags, and also keeps you from having to re-work bungees/tarp after they’ve been stretched by the wind. So, yes it limits the number of bungees needed to secure the tarp. Plus, a good bonus would be is to have a “smoke” tarp with flaps. Stay safe and keep doing an amazing job out there!!!👍

    • @mariob4243
      @mariob4243 Год назад

      can you tell me what a "smoke" tarp is. just curious, is it those ones that look like a screen?

    • @CampRand
      @CampRand Год назад +2

      It is a regular piece of vinyl tarp. It’s used to protect front of load from the truck’s exhaust smoke(i.e. water pipe, insulation). I carried a 12 x 16 smoke tarp, with the rings and flaps. The other benefit was that it could be used in conjunction with the much larger tarp to finish covering portions that the larger tarp didn’t cover.

    No, do more tutorials. I have suggestion for tarping on really windy days. After you first roll out tarp it's full length, put some straps across tarp in a few places. Leave them loose enough so you can still unfold tarrp, but tight enough so a strong gust won't blow the whole tarp off. I'm not a truck driver, but I do like solving problems. Lord bless, stay safe.

    Well hello BRB, hows it going. Ive never have done flatbed, but ive got many yrs experience in driving different trucks 🚚.. Ive got experience in logging,dry van,reefer,containers,cement,beer/wine trailers. I think if i did flatbed, id ask for loads i didnt have to tarp and untarp,cus to me what most companies pay for that isnt worth the extra time and work. Id only want to do loads that strapped and chained. But u do good on tarping. If u ever decide to get out of flatbedding go into dryvan/reefer. I guess theres ups and downs in all of it. Hope to see u out there one day if we ever get our chance to get back into a truck

    Awesome video, Becca. I *almost* went into flatbed and then decided not to. I commend you on how hard you work and how difficult that work can be. It's also quite dangerous, a lot of people don't realize that. Yeah, I wimped-out and went dry van, but I enjoyed it. I was regional LTL (line-haul) so I didn't have to do likely 1/15th the work you do. Just moved trailers from one terminal to another. Often had to go to Chicago rail yards to get my doubles trailers. Eventually I developed DVT blood clots in my right leg and had to hang it up.
