Thank you Margaret! So glad you're recovering from the strained hand/arm issue. The silk jacket looks quite glamerous - it should feel lovely as a layer on cooler evenings. I just finished a Ranunculus using a silk/cotton/linen blend which is super light and nice to wear for this warmer time of year. I started making it in March so it would actually be ready to wear in spring, the perfect time for summer knits - I love it.
Yay Margaret! So glad you’re back to knitting. I had knitter’s elbow a few years ago and had to take a break. No fun. Looks like you’re making up for time lost with all those fabulous new projects. On my needles for summer is cotton yarn. I also enjoy linen in the summer. Love the ribbon sweater. Fabulous on you! ❤️👏👏👏
Oh Margaret, I came here for the knitting but left with the scone story! Your description of following an online recipe is so funny and spot on. I usually find the “print the recipe” option, found amongst the ads. Love your random drippings…very relatable. You nailed that Prada jacket. Very chic. Take care, Love, Lisa 💕
You are the sweetest Lisa!!! Thank you so much for watching -these words totally made my day. Let me know if you try the scone recipe and what you put inside. I can’t help it - I’m addicted to the chocolate chip. Sending much love.
You are the cutest! I love your new set up!!! So pro!!! And did you know I was making the Billie pullover? Soul sisters! Love love love ribbon yarn!!! And your new pattern!!!!🩷🩷🩷🩷
Dearest Margaret, Sometimes I think we’re clones-I have a Pinterest board on the Stoics, love scones and ribbon yarn! And of course after spending some time with you I knew as clones we were not far off(except for your musical gifts, fast knits and many other things😂😂). Agree completely about your take on internet recipes. Love a hard copy! Also haven’t figured out reading and knitting at the same time either (audiobooks don’t quite cut it). So happy to hear about Maia’s knits too. And lovely that you made it to Doylestown with both kids for your birthday. Love the Ingrid pattern. And thanks for sharing the cookbooks and Seneca. I too am a fan of nonfiction. Congratulations on your 1,000!
😊Hello Margaret.I think the aircon makes life such a joy for me to knit in. Cool in the heat. Real heat, so I knit winter cardigans and light sweaters knit all year along. Time is used here to knit my 3 sophy shawl... a great pattern.🎉
Hi Margaret, love the episode! So many relatable stories. 😂 I too am so done scrolling through the phone while cooking. 😂 Knitting related, I just finished "Vestover V" by Elsebeth Judith with Sandness Garn Line yarn. I loved the process and the finished product so much, that I'm about to cast on another one with 100% wool (the pattern gives both yarn options). Not necessarily a summer knit but the one I just finished definitely is! Congratulations on the milestone! Keep up the good work! And keep on knitting! ❤ Ewa.
Hi Evwa!!! oh my goodness thank you so much for your sweet words. They totally made my day. So that makes two of us done with the scrolling while cooking. Lol 😂- I have to check out the pattern you are referring to. It looks like something I’ve been trying to find. I’ve had it in my mind to make a vest with a V-neck and it seems to me that this might be the pattern. Thank you so much for mentioning it. I too will be planning on making it in alpaca. Not exactly summer but hey, I’m always cold so I think it might even work for summer. Sending much love and thanks.💕💕❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹
Congratulations Margaret! I love knitting in the summer! I’m joining all the sock knit along going on this summer and have two tees on my needles, an Anker tee and a Skyline tee. I love linen and wool blends, merino and cotton blends and will like to try a 100% linen or bamboo yarn this summer. Happy knitting! ❤
Hey my dear, a clear yes to the summer knitting. I knit my third peacock tee with sandnes line. Last summer I knit several ranunculus tees, a tresoro by isabell kramer and the magnolia cardigan by camila vad in cotton, well that turns out of size. Next I will try the salty air tee snd so on and so on. The only issue that I had was when I tried to crochet a summer bag with a paper yarn, because that caused sometimes pain with my hands. I love the beautifull jacket right by your side, it remembers me of a chanel jacket. Let me know if you need testknitters. Thanks for your beautiful inspirations, Anna PS I love roses since my grandpa let me smell his hudge yellow, orange and light pinkish teeroses. Seemed to me in this age that the are equal in size like my head, every time we visit them.
Really enjoy this episode. My plan for summer knitting is to become proficient in socks. Lucky for me, I have four Grands with smallish feet so starting with the smallest, I should be a master when I get to the biggest feet! Also, for Maya, take a look at the cookbook from Milk Street called Cookish. My new Fav!! Easy, few ingredients and delicious!
Hi Margret. It’s nice to meet you. I just found you. I’m knitting the Ankers Summer Shirt, in Lion brand Coboo, a cotton bamboo blend in the color palette pink. It is a very cost efficient yarn, which is all I can afford as a retired widow. Keep up the good work. I’m so glad I found you.😊
Oh, I’m so thrilled to have found you. And the Yarn you’re working with sounds amazing. I love when bamboo is part of the fiber content. Enjoy every stitch and sending much love to you.
I’m knitting the Anker Summer Tee by Petit Knit using Sandnes Garn Line - blend of cotton, linen and viscose. Wonderful yarn. Always enjoy your podcasts ❤
Hello lovely lady, I’m all about linen in summer. Not the easiest thing to knit with but man when it’s washed and scrunched up to become soft, I’m in love, worth the effort. Don’t enter me unless you drop it off personally 💪🏻🤣 Anything above US6 needles and my hands I like WTF?! Just did my last friend to friend shrug for a gift and my hands are like 🎉 no more!!! Your silk bolero is gorgeous, it’s very Prada 😉 Love Seneca and the great thinkers of that time. No to the scone, yes yes yes to a croissant, maybe 3 🤭😂 Thanks for the fun, Karen 😘
I will have to take a look at all the Dartmoor finished projects. It's a sweater that is on my list but these days it seems I crave the quick knit. I am knitting on the Summer Secret crop by Jessie Maed. I am using a yarn from berrocco called Captiva. It's ribbon like; I'm not sure if this is a good yarn choice for this project but at least it's a small project so I won't be too disappointed if I have to start over. Love your hobbies! Thank you for all your tips!
Hi Margaret, I like yourself have sustained an injury, knitting related and have been unable to knit anything since March. So, instead I have exercised to build up my arms and wrists to enable me to return to my art. No summer knits for me, going straight into winter knitting and plan on starting a skirt - both the yarn and needles are waiting. Thank you for another interesting Podcast.
Love the ribbon! Can’t wait for the pattern. I’m currently working on a Saar vest, but will soon be on to knitting 2 baby blankets. I did just finish the Buenos Aires tee in a linen and alpaca blend.
Hi Margaret, your ribbon jacket is beautiful! So happy your elbow is feeling better. For online recipes, look for and select “print recipe”, this gives you a streamlined view of the recipe without all the other junk. Then either print it, or you can just take a screen shot and save the image in a folder on your iPad. To answer your question: I don’t treat my knitting as seasonal, but just work on whatever is calling to me at the time. I will have to try Ina's scone recipe…I do have one of her cookbooks…maybe it’s in there…and thanks for the link! XOXO Lisa 🩷💛🧡
Lisa, thank you so much for these words and forgive my delay in anaswering. Ever since you mentioned that there is a 'print recipe' feature on internet recipes, my life has been so much easier. Who knew? You're an angel! Sending much love!
I just can't seem to knit for summer. As a fellow East-Coaster, I come from a place with a lot of "hot air" (Washington, D.C.) and it's so dang humid here that I can't even think of wearing something knit, even in silk or cotton. So I stay inside and work on my fall knits! Currently, I'm working on the Sari N. Poetry Pullover in cotton for the transition seasons. The Jump For Joy is glorious! They all are, but I can't get over that peachy color! I can totally relate to the gauge issue - many tears have been shed over a size that is not even usable. I found that frogging mohair is (a little bit) easier when you put it in the freezer first! A medical professional had to tell me to stop knitting for a while because I was not going to do that myself 😅
Hi Liz. Oh my goodness so we are in the same boat about needing intervention to stop Knitting lol. Your transitional knit sounds glorious and I love that fiber content too. Thank you so much for watching and for sharing. Sending much love.💕💕💕
Love your podcast! Congrats on 1,000. I will knit anything anytime of the year. Right now I am finishing up the Yutori Sweater by Caidree. I think it will be a great late summer early fall knit. Oh my gosh. My Yutori looks similiar to your Cardigan. I am dying to get to Forever Yarn. Happy summer. Kim
I have in the past done all my Christmas knitting in July ( Christmas in July-- Hallmark Movies…Yes)…I did grandkids hats-My husbands Hat too. Now since the G-Kids no longer like I don’t do this. But I do continue for my Husband. Staple linen top I do have ready to cast on in Zooey. Your yarn is lovely. I won’t enter the give-away as I don’t do stash anymore. Thank you for today
I have all sorts of ideas for summer knits, but generally only get to a fraction of my plans. I find I just don't have enough time in the summer to dedicate to knitting which is sad and feels unfulfilling (probably similar to your forced break from knitting due to pain recently!). With that said, I hope to make a CAPROCK by Yamagara with a wool and hemp blend yarn, a Look At My Holes by James N Watts out of cotton, and an Everyday Attitude by Susanne Sommer out of silk. We will see what progresses! Thanks for the lovely episode!
Believe it or not, I am knitting Christmas presents - Deadline Cowl - 18 of them🤷🏼♀️I love the summer colors, the summer knits, but ... I couldn't 'not' see the yarn for the cowls!!!
Hi Margaret, I recently cast on “Sea foam” by Francesca Caricato in a cotton yarn that I’ve had in my stash for at least 20 years, finally found the right project for it! 5:31
I see from the comments that there is someone else from DC. I, like her, don't knit for the summer as it's too hot and humid to wear the garments. I am about to begin the Sunday Cardigan - Mohair Edition, by PetiteKnit. I'll be using Isager Kid Silk in Navy. It's my first time trying this designer. Then I'm diving in to my first colorwork with The Secret Garden Sweater, by Elenor Mortensen. I thoroughly enjoyed this video and all the topics you covered :) I'm eagerly awaiting your ribbon jacket kit! Happy Almost Summer.
Hi beautiful Felicia!!! I am excited about your Sunday Cardi- that is in my Ravelry queue too. I may be passing through DC- it would be so fun to have coffee with you and Diana!💕💕💕
Summer knitting....always a temptation, but Texas is so insanely hot. I am doing a Deschain (my 2nd) in plum Kestrel, with will be more wearable in the fall. (But don't include me in the give-away, as I already won a lovely prize from you. Someone else gets a turn!) The silk jacket is charming, brava!
Oh beautiful Candace I know that it gets tricky to Knit in the summer. Here in New Jersey sometimes the humidity is such that the stitches barely want to move off the needle. But there’s always fall time knitting and your project sounds amazing. Congratulations on your beautiful Spoleto shawl pattern. Sending big hugs.❤️❤️💕💕💕
Margaret, I’m completely impressed by your version of the Prada jacket! Very cute! I’m currently working on the Mini Mock Neck Tank by Jessie Maed. Not as cropped. Using a cotton with a little bit of silk, yarn. Your new set up is very nice. The sound, lighting, and over all aesthetic came together beautifully. Congrats on your 1k subscribers!! Thank you for sharing. ☺️🧶💕
I'm so sorry to just see your beautiful comment. Thank you so much for taking the time to write and for such encouraging words. You are such a lovely person. I hope you're having a lovely start to the Fall and some great projects on the needles. Sending much love!
Thank you Margaret! So glad you're recovering from the strained hand/arm issue. The silk jacket looks quite glamerous - it should feel lovely as a layer on cooler evenings. Yes, I do knit for summer. Enjoy no sleeves! I just finished the Tulsa Tank in organic worsted cotton. Love it going to make another!
Hi Susan!!! I’m about to cast on a vest/tank as well- such a perfect summer knit!!! Thanks for watching and for your sweet words. Hugs! 🤗
