- The Viofo A119 v3 is an excellent dash camera. It continues to be improved and I still find it to be the best dashcam around $100.

i run an A119V3 in my weekend car and A129 in my daily (after watching your reviews) both have been flawless for the years i've run them, keep up the great content!
Hah, I have the same setup on my daily and weekend cars! And they have survived multiple cold winters and extremely hot summers (I park outdoors).
Is a119v3 not better choice to daily use?
I have the VIOFO A129 Duo Dashcam Installed since January of 2019 and it's still working great. It replaced the Mini 0606 which didn't last very long. Very happy with the A129 Duo! Also still running a Mobius dashcam alongside the A129.
Nice!! That's the model I bought after watching your dashcam review, it's a great wee unit that hasn't let me down yet :)
Great long term review! I have the V2 since June 2018 and no issues to this day in the Texas heat.
Great to hear! I've always been curious about how these dashcams handle high heat environments. :)
One of the excellent items I purchased based off your recommendation. Thanks Vortex I had it for a long time now with absolutely no issues.
does it come with two cameras for the one in the back and front?
Your the reason why I bought my R3 works fantastic now I’m in the market for a dash cam glad I can across this video thanks again.
Great choice, these are great value for money.
Loved the footage of Colombians legendary defensive driving techniques 😉
Ahhhh miss your dash am reviews!!!!! I know life is busy and totally understand. Just great to hear this review!
Yeah I wanna do Viofo the A139 next. There’s a couple dashcam reviews I wanna focus on. :)
Just last week I hardwired one of these into my Speed3, I've had that car for years and I have no idea why I never installed a simple dash cam. I love the A119v3, I would love it even more if it had Wi-Fi like my A139 in my CX-5, but for the price, honestly you can't beat the A119v3. Viofo is a great dash cam company.
Can't remember what version I got but I purchased one about a year and a half ago after i got into a fender bender and it's been great. It's basic as far as features go but the value and reliability is there. I'd definitely purchase again.
Wow! Awesome price and great video quality!! Thanks for sharing!
I'm still using a viofo a119 v3 along side a dr900x-2ch plus in my vehicle. Still such a great camera after several years.
Are the Viofo better than the BlackVue?
@@Ulven3829 I personally would use only the blackvue if I could only use one. The viofos have excellent video quality but their parking mode isn't as advanced. I also use the cloud features from blackvue that aren't available with any viofo models. But if you just want good dash cams that record very well when driving, viofo makes excellent dash cams. Some of them have parking mode but it's not consistent across all of their cams with is disappointing.
Ive noticed that if you use 30 fps instead of 60 fps the image quality is a lot better. I guess this comes in clutch because of the bit more time the cam has to calculate the light.
Got 2 of them, Great dashcam for the price and still working great for about 2 years now.
can you turn off the speedometer on the bottom? i don’t want my insurance company knowing I was going 20 over the limit in my crash.
@@6z0 yes you can because my son did that to mine for the same reason
@@rfunk727 cool, thanks for replying.
I have the A119 v3 and I added a CPL and the quality is so crisp! I love it.
what's a cpl?
@@alexsvilla7962 filter
I also use V3, it really is the best camera I've had and especially since Viofo made to read the registration plates at night. Which firmware do you use?
Good review thanks! If you have an outlet that is always on regardless of ignition position, do you still need a hardwire kit for parking mode?
Can you plug this into the vehicle power outlet as opposed to the fuse box? Also, it didn’t come with an sd card? How do you place the camera..does it have a horrible suction cup mount, do you cement it or can you hang it somewhere?
Can you clearly read licenses plates 12 to 15 feet away and passing? I always worry about hit and runs & clames gone wrong.
I previously used a Transcend DP100. Switched to Viofo A119V3 because of another channel that recommended it. But I think it has problem in regulating exposure in low-lit conditions. Sometimes the video gets too dark. Did you experience this? I'll try to upload and post a link here if I experience it again.
I bought this and the 256gb SanDisk you recommended after watching. How long is the recording on 256 gb before overwriting old footage?
I have been using viofo a119 for more than a year. I was out of country for a week and it seems my car battery completely died. The only connection was that of dash cam.
Has anyone faced this issue where the dashcam is completely draining the car battery?
I’m looking for a camera for my tow trucks. I’m torn between A129 Pro Duo or U1000! Want good quality for front and back that can record what do you recommend! Love your videos! Keep up the good work boss!!
I tried to open the latest firmware for the A119 v3 but two different computers said can't open mabe corrupt file any thought thanks Rick
Hi,
Thanks for VIOFO videos.
1 question:
Can i use VIOFO A119 V3 -G with a power-bank? Will the parking mode work with this power-bank?
got this installing soon
I want to use one of these is a cabin facing camera in my taxi to record passengers. Is this good in low light?
Can you flip the image to mount this upside down?
I just went to Costa Rica the other week and the driving is just as hectic there.
I really wish I had thought to bring a dashcam with me, but I guess I can save that for next time.
You can make a video how to install those cables? 😁 And the best settings for camera? 😁 Thx
A CPL could be good in your situation. The A129 CPL is the same as A119 CPL.
I hope you will test also the next A119 version which will be a little smaller than A119 V3.
For me your Viofo A119 V3 review was the best dashcam review I ever watched.
Congratulations for correct advices for endurance cards.
There’s a new one coming out? Do you have a link to some additional details about it?
I found this with a few initial details: dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/a119-v4-soon.46552/post-569631
@@VortexRadar the mini version ruclips.net/video/DiIsqF2yir8/видео.html
The "new" A119 is the A119 mini. There isnt a A119 V4.
Can you pair this camera with a rear camera as well?
Bought two of these. One for the front and one for the rear 😀
What are your thoughts on Vugera or Vueroid dashcams both from Korea.
I installed mine about 2 weeks ago and love it! Only one issue that I have with it and maybe it's because I'm not sure. I like making all the adjustments while I am physically holding it in my hand. It seems that the only way I can make any adjustments to the menu selection is that it has to be connected to the GPS mount and plugged into my cigarette lighter. When I remove it from the GPS mount and hook it up to my computer, I can't access the menu. I can download videos, but that's it. It's kind of a pain in the butt because I'm over 6 foot tall and I have to contort myself to access the menu when attached to GPS mount. It would be easy if I could remove it without taking the GPS mount off to access the menu. Is this the only way to access the menu when it's hooked up to GPS mount or am I doing something wrong??? Any help would be appreciated!
When it senses a data connection, it turns into a cars reader so you can copy files to your computer. Plug it into a power source like a wall charger and it’ll be the same as your car.
@@VortexRadar Thanks! I thought I was doing something wrong!
I used a viofo A119v3 since December 2019, the best purchase i have made until now
On your recommendation, I installed this in 2020, it doesn't always power on though. Even though I used the hawrdwire kit, I sometimes have to power on manually. Any idea what causes that?
Try switching firmware versions. I’ve seen that happen with some firmwares and not others. Firnware 2.4 should be better. dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/a119-v3-doesn%E2%80%99t-always-automatically-power-on.46041/#post-563955
Thanks for the video.. What are your thoughts on the VIOFO A129 Plus Duo as an alternative if I want to run a dashcam for both the front and the rear?
That’ll work. You lose buffered parking recording, but otherwise sure.
What settings are you using because your night footage at 0:40 looks amazing. I'm having a hard time seeing license plates in motion at night. Currently doing HDR off (to get 60 fps) 2k 60 fps, high bitrate.
Oh yeah, freezing license plates at night is tough for any dashcam. I think that clip looks good because we weren't moving that much.
Pulling up that clip, it's shot at 1440p60 with HDR off and high bitrate, so same as you.
@@VortexRadar Okay, good to know to set expectations correctly for night footage. Do you have a recommendation between the MP4 format vs TS? I understand the TS is more reliable but man is it annoying to playback.
A119v3 is still tough to be matched, especially at the price. Your in-laws are Colombian? Lucky you, Colombians are a crazy, fun and loving people! They definitely know how to drive better than in North America down there. I'm still using a A119v1 and looking for a dual channel solution that compares
70mai Pro+ is a close contender for how much cheaper it is now ($68 or $85 for front and back) but it records in 4:3 and has a battery instead of capacitors. For $100 or less you really can't beat the A119v3 even in 2022 if you want a front dash cam. I hope we get some more competition soon to bring the price down a little more.
Can you go into the detail of why some of these dashcams cause issue with the systems of some of the cars - I am not sure if its the blindspot monitoring or the gps system or assisted cruise control function. I have heard that you can only use either the car's branded dashcam or a dashcam with no gps - have you heard of such a thing?
Sorry I’m not familiar with what you’re talking about
That BMW near the end, what a maniac!!!!
Installed a V119 V3 2 1/2 years ago. Still works great. Recently bought another V119 V3 and use it for the rear dash cam. Read you use 1440 60 fps but HDR is off. Why not use HDR?
I’m not a fan of Viofo’s implementation of HDR. It seems to cause more problems than it solves. Check out my A139 review video for more details.
do you also install the camera in the back?
Haha awesome video I’m from Colombia and everything you say is true . Everyone drives like crazy !
Just got one and am new to dash cams, do I just leave it on my whole car ride? And when I’m done do i turn it off? How does parking mode work if I have to turn off the car for it to be on?
You just leave it in your car and forget about it essentially. In case something ever happens, it’s there recording and you have the footage.
For parking recording, it needs power while parked, so you either wire it up to your car battery or add a dedicated dashcam battery pack.
It seems that you have a Jaguar F Pace. I want to install the same camera at the same model. Do you have an installation video or some extra info that can help? (for the fuze lets say?)
Ooh I’d love to have an F Pace, but I don’t. :) You’ll need to Google around for more info. The car’s manual is helpful too.
I have the double A129 and love it, but I had it in my ram and since then I bought a new ram and want to get it installed, do you know of any good installer in the Tacoma area? I put in my last one but I want to get someone else to do it this time.
Ah nice. I'll bet you could swing by any CarToys or a Best Buy type installer and then could wire it up for you. You wouldn't need some fancy or expensive place to do it. :)
Hey, nice review. I have the same dashcam and i Wonder, what is your settings on the dashcam to get the best quality video ?
1440p and max bitrate
Hey Vortex, I bought this A129 and it is working great. But i use the cig lighter.
Question: Parking mode will not work unless hard wired?
I believe so, yes. The wiring is a little bit different.
Thank you. I will check this out
May I ask the benefit of the hardwire kit? Is it just that it frees up the car’s power outlet?
Yep, plus a cleaner install overall and adding parking recording capabilities
Looks great. Especially for the money. Any experience with the Viofo A129 plus Duo ? I'd like to do fr / r setup.
Yeah it’s a solid pick too. www.vortexradar.com/2020/10/viofo-a129-duo-a129-plus-a129-pro-comparison-review/
@@VortexRadar Oh no, A129 Plus no longer has 'Buffered parking mode'?
Highly recommend people to not use the GPS mount. If your in a crash and you were going 2 over the speed limit they can pull the data from the video, even if you turn off the gps through the settings.
Since most police are now giving 10 over it shouldn’t matter
Viofo image quality is pretty good. Custumer/techincal support not so great in fixing known issues with firmware.
Is it supposed to just show a dark screen? Becuz my I’m sure it works but just shows a dark screen and I press the record button to make sure Ik it is working
Doublecheck the screensaver option which turns off the display after a certain amount of time upon startup.
Just an FYI, all dashcash use one of three camera sensors, and one of two image processors. From $40 to $500, it's the same three units.
Sounds like you just watched Linus’ video, lol. There are more sensors and processors used though. You may be thinking of brands instead of models. That said, there are a few models that are used in many dashcams, that is true.
Interesting video footage. Which country is this footage from? We too have bikers like that creeping through which is an utter annoyance, cutting across at speed most times.
It's from Colombia
You mentioned cutting your hands up. Dont feel bad. Dude, some of those edges on injection molded plastic panels are somehow sharp af. Like ive handled knifes duller then those edges.
Am I able to install 2 A119V3's on my car? Want one for the rear as well.
Sure you can do that
Would the A129 (Plus Duo) be better, as it comes with the rear cam as well? There is for $129.
If you’d like to install a rear camera too, yeah the deal they have going on right now for $123 instead of $169 is awesome and I agree it’s a better choice now. amzn.to/3I0BfhH
@@VortexRadar Thanks. After posting though, I read buffered parking will be disabled in the Plus. What's a good dual option?
That’s true. The 1080p A129 Duo has buffered parking mode. amzn.to/3udLcCU
the A129 (Plus Duo) can rec in 2k60p + 1080p30 ............................what modell you buy ? XD
I have this one and it saved me thousands! Someone ran me off the road and ran (I honestly don't know if they even heard me honking somehow) and I took damage from the curb. They were found 100% at fault, thankfully.
Regardless, this is a great product, my only question is, can it be used as a REAR dash cam too? (I'm gonna guess not) I need just a rear one but don't think using a different brand or type of cam would make things simple. Any advice or help would be great.
I don't see any reason why you can´t use one as a rear camera. it`s just 2 separate cameras. The camera don´t know if its on the rear or front window. But you can`t have one recording on the other cameras memorycard or so. If you have power near the back window the install can be more simple. But if anything happens and you want to save the file it`s hard to reach the savebutton on the camera in the back. But Viofo have a seperate recordbutton you can use if i remember correctly.
Im runnin a A119 v3 in the front and a AUKEY Mini Dash Cam (40euro/40usd) in the back.
@@magnus1liljeqvist I'm confused. So I can have the same on the back, which will use a different memory card, and the only down side is that I can't immediately save a video since it's in the back? Does it look okay in the back and would the cord reach the front in a sedan? Would you suggest that or what you have? Do they work okay together if so?
@@FriendlyKat the cable length was no issue for me but the audi a2 is a small car and I used a cigarette lighter outlet splitter between the seats that powered both cameras. I have changed car now and got a dual usb socket I will mount somewhere connected to permanent power (with a hardwire kit for dashcam) the audi always had power on the cigarette lighter outlet and the renault clio doesn't and I want parking mode.
The only thing I would check is that the curve and angle of the rear window isn't a problem. If its a van with vertical windows you need to check that the lens can be tilted that much.
What are the problems you are thinking about?
@@FriendlyKat to my knowledge most cameras use mini-USB for the power (but check that for your cameras) and the cables to my two cameras are long but if you want diffrent lengths you should be able to just get a different one.
@@magnus1liljeqvist Well I have a 2006 VW Jetta TDI, fantastic car btw, so I want to make sure the cord reaches my middle charge port, and that the view looks good. As long as those two things are checked off, I'm good. I would also like to invest in a powerbank (since I have no idea how to hard wire and im not putting that much effort into moving stuff around), so I can also use parking mode since when the car is off, the cameras are too. Any advice and tips are welcome.
I’ve recently been asked for a dash cam recommendation by a friend. I bought the A119 v3 in Nov 2019. Regardless of price, and this one relatively cheap, still the best on market in every parameter.
Just ordered it and read about issues of it not being reliable and deletes the micro sd card by itself. Did u ever have issues like that?
No issues
@@bennysaa Do you have an A119v3 and if so have you had any problems? I have had mine for several years and no issues at all.
@@Knightyme jep thats the one I have. No issues at all
Can i leave it on park mode and connected to a power bank? It stays connected?
yes
I found the best way, for me, to install multiple Dash Cameras in my vehicles is to pucharse an addition 6 bus box which I connected directly to the hot at the battery and the ground to the vehicle chassis. The bus has six fuses. Before I bought the bus box, I had trouble determing where I coud tap the directly install the hardwire. Once I installed the bus, I had two additiona fuses I could use for other connections. Good luck.
Oh nice. Which one do you use? I’ve got a Rigrunner bus in my car.
@VortexRadar sorry do not recall brand. A mechanic suggested the bus, and it does the job so much easier to add electrical accessories.
I have a viofo A119, but for sure it is not the V3...
can I use the newer firmware for that A119?
The different A119’s have different hardware so you’ll need to choose the firmware for whichever version you own.
@@VortexRadar I can't find it anymore it seems. only found the V3
is this a dashcam review or how to install fuse wiring in Spanish ?
Neither. Just a quick story to share along the way. The full review, if you’re looking for that, is here: ruclips.net/video/ZPBC64QFVrg/видео.html
Do you think it will do well with heat?
No problem with heat. I have Viofo A129 pro duo 4k, and during the summer I had no problem.
can u access the video without popping out the SD card?
Nope. For that you’ll want the new A119 Mini that adds WiFi. ruclips.net/video/DiIsqF2yir8/видео.html
I have the A129 pro duo. Using the menu is weird
Not at all! Plus, you can pair it with your phone via wifi thru Viofo app. Thus you can make the settings more easier.
Thanks! I'm a truck driver and I have a couple of questions. If you have videos explaining my answers please refer me, ( you have a lot of stuff here!!! lol)119 vs 129 comments, Can I stream live (say to youtube), Installation (usb?)
How can i get the additional improvements?
You mean how can you download the latest updates? They're available on Viofo's website. viofo.com/content/41-viofo-a119-v3-dash-cam-support/
There is a Limit Time Deal in amazon, $79.92 for Viofo A119 V3 right now.
It has been confirmed over on dashcamtalk that a new verson of the A119 is coming out. They said quote, Yes, there is "V4" coming soon, still call A119, but not called A119 V4. New design, and new hardware, and use the USB-C port.
Bring it on!
Now, everywhere I go I get recommended the A119 v3 which is great but since it can't be mounted via suction cup while also having the GPS module connected. I want to take the camera to different cars where I can't just install something. Dashcam without GPS is a bit pointless if you really need to prove time and location.
Why would you hardwire the dash cam ? I’m just curious..
Cleaner install with no power cable hanging down your dash, plus it frees up your cig. lighter for other stuff. It also often unlocks additional capabilities for parking recording, especially since many cig. lighters turn off when you park your car.
Really struggle to get good connection to my phone with the app. Connection process is terrible and if you’re trying to watch a clip or transfer that clip then good luck. Better off pulling the card out and going to a computer.
Which dashcam are using? This one doesn’t have Wi-Fi.
@@VortexRadar A129, should have clarified. Since this one in the video doesnt have wifi it wont apply.

I just bought one on Amazon during a Flash Deal for $79.99.
Nice!
I'm going to make a point that you possibly have never considered before. This has come up with Police Body cameras. The idea is that an HDR camera, especially in low light situations, will falsely represent what is visible to the human that was present near the camera at the time of the event. When viewing the footage it's important to view it in a way that does not give the idea that something should have or could have been seen when it was not actually able to be seen by human eyes.
That’s a philosophical question as to the purpose of the camera. Most people consider it a tool to record what happens as well as possible, not to show what a person would see, specifically including the limitations of their eyesight, but to each their own I suppose.
Nice picture quality, but without wi-fi connection :(
who cares
Maybe there’s not so many accidents because everyone knows everyone else is about to do something crazy so people are ready for it. That’s how I’ve avoided accidents for decades, I drive knowing everyone else is crazy 😂
Viofo a119 v3-gps vers soft: v.2.6-20220808
parti negative gasite pana acum:
2: cand porneste per total are o intarziere de aprox.
Parti pozitive: le gasiti in toate descrierile despre acest model.
