- We are back with the 51 Studebaker Land Cruiser and its V8 is running better than ever now that we got the firing order figured out. In this video we clean it up for the first time in years and get it back out on the road again! As usual Rocky the goat was a big was a big help in making this video. It has a 232 OHV V8 engine which was one of the first available in the US, it also has a 3 speed manual transmission (three on the tree) with overdrive! This car was way ahead of its time.

It’s so refreshing to watch a real man step up to the plate and create an incredible childhood for a cool family. Great job teaching a work ethic with kindness and fun.
One of my favorite comments iv seen in a long time👍 agreed and may God bless you, sleeprdude and both of your families.
Another very entertaining episode! Thanks for what ya do, you guys are great.
I hope SleeperDude and wife have lots of grandchildren and great grandchildren. They deserve it. Blessings.
Thank you so much very kind
But it's more exciting to watch an imaginary man step up to the plate and hit a line drive.
What I love the most about your videos is the family involvement and camaraderie, as well as the animals. This brings me back to my brother and I working on a '68 Mercury Marauder when I was about 13, we rebuilt the 390 motor one summer, and it's one of my fondest childhood memories. Wonderfully entertaining Josh, I look forward to the next one!
Great thank you
My Grand-father had a near new 1951 Starlight when I was about 6 (74 now), wouldn't mind having one myself. Liking how the whole family gets involved in a project.
That’s cool
I am 80 and I did drive a 50 Champion 4 door. Loved that car. If i win the lottery one my first excesses in buy a restored one good enough for daily driver.
I love this old car. Great content. This gives you so much more family time. It’s great to see them all involved in these projects.
Thank you that’s true
This is the best youtube channel in my honest opinion
But thats the kicker. Its not a project. Its todays project. Its tomorrows project. Its a way of life. And oh? By the way the go to school, and get trophys at school. Come home, hours, hours, under cars. Whew...its impressive. Got all those animals is not easy either. Thats more work?
@@richardotero2376 So it's today's project, tomorrow's project, but it's *not* a project. What in the world...?
My uncle Howard sold them back in the late 1950s. For years he drove a 59 Lark. How he squeezed four kids in the back seat I’ll never know. I owe my love of Studebakers to him. My love of Packards is owed to my grandfather. By 1955 they merged into one.
That’s a great story
I hope you are enjoying your new career. I think it's great that your whole family helps with your projects.
Thank you
I fun watching your family enjoying old cars like you and your wife does. God bless yall and keep up the great work.
Feedback to end of video pondering: I like race cars but watching videos about actual cars and driving around in them is the most fun for me obviously with V (or straight) preferably big block eights with mandatory dual exhaust, 4bbl, manuals and positraction. It's so great paying homage to when they used to make real cars.
Great job Josh from you and your family. The Studebaker looks and sounds great.Glad to see Rocky was in charge and making sure all was well.😃
Yes always thank you
My Uncle had one of these Studebakers. He was a mechanic and worked on a variety of cars. This was back in the 1960s when he owned the car. I liked the shape and thought it looked like a aeroplane in the front, with its bullet nose. I live in New Zealand and American cars were a common sight on our roads up to the 1960s. Then Japanese cars 🚗 came flooding on to our car market. I like how the children have an interest in the old car. From Carl.
Thank you
carl--I thought that this car was a Henry J when I saw it here.
As a small child in the early 50's, I saw my first one, and to this day I have always remembered what I said to the boy next to me: "When I grow up I want one of those".
I never got one, but I came close with this Studebaker.
His kids won't be helpless idiots but problem solvers instead. My own dad was a master mechanic but didn't have that kinda patience and time since he supported 6 kids by working hard, long hours. But I watched and taught myself. Old Cars old motorbikes are my passion
I hope so..
My wife and I ran across a Studebaker pickup when we were touring some tiny towns in Indiana. It had a flat...
Oh wow
I love how you and the family interact. You are making priceless memories. God Bless you guys
Thank you
Another great video from Sleeperdude and family. I think the best thing would be to sell the Studebaker to someone that will drive it regularly, you can;t drive em all Josh!
That’s true
Sears sold just about anything. Both in their stores and in the catalogue which was produced for about 100 years from the 1890's to the 1990's.
My father went to Chicago in the '60s/'70s and brought back a Sears catalogue (an inch or so thick) and for us in the UK what you could order from the cataloque was simply unbelievable.
😏♥️ my dad had one of these..we lived in federal way near Seattle..I have a picture of my sister and I in front of this beauty in the snow..in March of 1952 my parents and us drove from tacoma to San diego...they had bought a house for 19,000$ my dad subsequently had 2 more studebaker wagons...what great autos...we drove back up to tacoma every summer.❤
So glad to see you working on the Studebaker. Love it. Great family, run for ice cream, car.
Thank you
I love the Stude! The blue color with red rims is perfect. It also seems to be Rocky's new favorite food! haha. Oh my goodness, cherish your beautiful kids. Ralphie is awesome. God bless you all.
Yes thank you
The best investment you can make in car/truck/vehicle cleaning supplies...
Get a Squeegee! They work phenomenal on the interiors of all car windows get one that has a metal handle, and is 8 to 10 inches wide.
Ok great thank you
It's amazing how easily it starts. (Even without some nice chomium plated hoopcovers)
I would love to see what these look like put together. I love how you seem to build/get them started on a budget so much fun to watch
Thank you
Thanks for the video you're family work so well together good to see young kids interested in vintage wheels and working together
Thank you I am blessed
I grew up in Lewistown Illinois and you guys melt my heart I love the fact that you all run around barefoot because that reminds me of when I was a little kid I only had one pair of shoes and I only wore it if I had to go to town and I just love the fact that y'all run around barefoot and just make my day plus it's super entertaining you guys are so
Wholesome You're so generated I love you I love you I love you much love from Fresno California ❤️👍❤️❤️❤️
Yours is the best show out there on getting vehicles running you include the whole family they ought to give you your own TV show you guys are the best I watch every video you put up you guys are amazing love the way you can clean your family
Thank you we appreciate it
Rocky never disappoints! Oh keep the studebaker! My favorite make of car. Great seeing the kids getting in there and working.
No he doesn’t
Nice work on the Studebaker. Really nice old cars. On another note, has your stress dropped since you made the move? Wish only the best for you and your family!
Yes less stressed for sure getting a lot of stuff done
Hey sleeper dude i wanna thankyou for your content...me and my 12 year old son watch your shows non stip...my son gets a kick outta ralphy...and you have me laughing all the time and rocky is unbelievable the things he can get him self up on...love the show buddy and you have an awesome family...thankyou from me and my son
Thank you 😊
A neighbor had one of those back in late 50’s, early sixties. Enjoy your channel.
I have always loved the “bullet nosed” Studebakers. My favorite is the the “Starlight Coupe” that’s always described as the car you can’t tell if it coming or going. Your Land Cruiser is really a good car for a “driver level” restoration. As always seeing your whole family involved is amazing and inspirational.
Yeah they are cool thank you
Love to see everyone pitching in on the Studie. You should take bets on what will be Ralphie's first registered road vehicle. Or what car Wawa takes to her first prom.
Thank you ..
She'll probably drive her VW, and Ralphie will probably register a truck
Dang! I never thought of mounting my Harbor Freight tire changer on a pallet! Brilliant!
Works good
It has floorboards... we're not used to that. LOL. Great line because it's TRUE.
Yes it is glad you liked it
As always I enjoyed the Studebaker video Josh getting the whole family involved with your projects making them a fun time for all is great. And then there's Rocky the super goat he comes to inspect all that you folks do, just don't let him eat the seat covers. No matter what you folks are working on I love all your videos and thank you for them. Looking forward to the next one right now. Y'all be safe out there and all the best to all of you always.
Thank you
I’m thinking that those seats might be dry enough by 2026… Thanks again for the great content!
Probably so thank you
Oh gawd, I read your comment before it came up in the video! You are SOOO right!
Rocky is a big star
He doesn’t know it
My Dad worked on the Land Cruiser line in ‘50 and early’51 before going off to Korea.
So neat!!
Ralphie is too much!! Lol It warms my heart watching you and your family to bond and work on a old case. Your building character in your kids and building memories. That's worth all the money in the world. Your atleast 1000.00 dollars or a life time worth of Vienna's!! Lol
Thank you that’s true
It was awesome seeing y'all working together. God Bless y'all.
Thank you
My uncle Sal would buy nothing but DooDoomakers (lol) for decades. Always smelled like cigars. Every time I see one I want to light up, a cigar that is. The last one he had was a President. Pretty fast car.
That’s funny my dad owns a president
Great job! I love the whole family involvement, and kudos for Ralphie for how much he helps you, as well as Rocky! I LOVE IT! I have spent weeks watching your videos and am supporting you and your RUclips videos! May God bless you and your family 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Nice team work on the clean up love to see how well the kids work together
Thank you
I know you said you were probably gonna flip it,but I sure hope you keep the Studebaker. From everything I've seen, that Studebaker is pretty solid and pretty complete.Lots of parts out there for these old Studes. Turner makes a disc brake kit for them as well. Keep it for momma. 👍
Ok thanks
Love your site. You and family give me hope for America.
Thank you I appreciate it
Super DAD, WIFE & super kids...all of you made me glad and happy to see this nice family. GIVE THANKS TO HIM..
Thank you
Now that's a going to town rig! Nice job crew!
Thank you it runs good
A feller feels the same...
Great video family! Everyone looks relaxed and enjoying themselves! Great old car for cruising💕
Yes thank you
When I was 6 this is the first car I ever remember us having wish I still had it now I’m almost 67🤨🙏🏼🤙🏻❤️
Just watched the studebaker vid and let me tell you it is a future classic for me and the wife. When you said that you signed up the kids for experimental drug trials the wife almost had a heart attack. LOL 😂 He is kidding hon. Watching you and the family work warms the heart. A lot of good lessons are being learned. Keep up the good vids guys.😎👍🚕🚙🚌🚌🚎🏎🏎🚓🚓🚐🚐
That old 51 Studebaker never had it so good. You all pitched in and did a great job cleaning the old girl up. Always great watching your videos.
Thank you
Great episode! Everybody working together. Mom and Dad you two are great role models!! I would sell the Studebaker sedan to a collector. Very advanced car for its year, overdrive and an overhead V8 engine!!
Thank you .
Such a classic. My friends dad had the same back in the mid 60's. I saw one one the road restored fully with a hot V/8 in it It sounded great with the hot cam Good vid. I always thought these cars looked great. Thank you
This car was so modern for 1951, way ahead of other car companies on Styling. Always loved these bullet nose Studebakers.....it doesn't even look out of place driving....and they had such a great V8 engine!
Yes they were
What a perfect time for your family 👪 ❤ to post a new video its made time pass by for my wife to get home from work for our anniversary 😀. Super glad to have found you giys on RUclips I never stop smiling when watching Yale
God blessed and stay 🙌 blessed
Thank you
Really great content as usual, can’t believe how good the body and paintwork is after all those years, all the best from the UK
Thank you
Sure hope you restore the little truck. It's a jewel. Love your videos. You guys are awesome.
I love how Ralphie is always with you and willing to work!!
He is a hard worker
Another great video-- what a cool old car. They are worth preserving. It's always amazing to me how even the worst looking vehicle can come around with a little TLC-- that's family power at work with a goat assist...your kids are getting great memories. Love the banter and the hard time the kids gave you at the end. Funny stuff. Really enjoy your vids-- brings a smile to my face no matter how tough the day has been!
Yes for sure thank you
That upholstery is of the original type. @@Sleeperdude
great show as usual, glad to see ya staying home with them youngins happy for all of y'all,my favorite shifter is 3 on the tree I wanted to put one in my truck when I took the automatic out, nobody had a column so I put a car 4 speed in it,
Ok cool thanks
Awesome your family for a cool family and proud job teaching work for kids learn benefit.
Thank you
To create more car intusiants you should always tell us the buying price and the selling price. It will keep your viewers growing, the community growing, and the American tradition growing. It's my thought. If you think is bad? You know better than me. YOU'RE doing it I'm just watching and enjoying. Keep DOING IT.
I think it’s a good idea
Some of the best content on you tube! Thnx for that. Keep em coming!
Thank you so much
That back seat with the fold down arm rest is pretty cool! Great video!
Yes it is
You are not old enough to remember when almost all the country roads were dirt or gravel. I grew up in southern Oklahoma and they didn't make hard surface roads until the late sixties there. One thing they did was spread oil on the roads in front of farm houses to knock down dust. EPA would have a fit if they did that now. That was more than likely where the mud came from under the car.
That’s interesting the only place I have saw roads like that in my life was in Florida
Old school tip for you, when you’re scrubbing rust off of chrome, put a little RC cola on your steel wool and don’t use water. You’ll be amazed! I’m not even kidding either.
Yes 👍 someone told me that we will try it
Ralphie is going to be quite the lady's man ❗
Did anyone else notice when he got out of the car he opened the back door for his sister's good job.
He is sweet sometimes
That was partly because her door handle doesn't work .
Land Cruiser had the really desirable rear swaybar. Yours looked like it was still there when you were draining the tank.
Ok great thanks
Well hey, I got one too! Minus the goats and those are definitely stars of the show!
Awesome!!
I came to watch a car video but when you mentioned "do you guys wear shoes" made me think of everytime I'd run out to meet my grandad without them and he would ask the same thing
Thanks Josh and family for bringing back a memory I wouldnt trade for anything
That’s funny I was the same way growing up
I love this car! I am so glad y'all can spend more time together. Always look forward to your videos. Keep up the amazing work!!
Thank you
I love old cars. She really cleaned up good wow it runs great. I really enjoy all your contents with your whole family. Just keep doing you congrats on becoming a full time U tuber. 🙏🌻
Thank you will do
The best memories for your kids ,this will always be their most fun times of Growing up ,great Way to raise your kids. Great Job Mom and Dad!!!
That’s true thank you
You should paint it Mr. Autobody man. This is the best junk car you've got. Oh snap... Ralphie ain't got no shirt on. 👍👍👍
Yeah I do need to paint one some day
Thanks for another great video. You all are never a disappointment. Keep that Studebaker!
Thank you
I just love how the family is "Willing" to help on Projects like this!
They deep down really dont want 2 buddy, you can see it clear as day.. Narcissist dad is no better than a abusive dad, i'm afraid..
We do everything together.
So, both of you are wrong. This is my family, and I can attest that, if these kids didn't want to be on the channel, then they wouldn't be. Neither mom nor dad would force their children onto camera if they didn't want to be.
For 1 I have been a subscriber for a very long time! 2 dude is a family man! 3 they are kid's and im sure he is not forcing them! You can tell, they live a loving happy life! 3 he is a wonderful loving father, and most definitely not a narcissist! Man working 80 hours a week or more, to be able to give his family what they need! And putting himself last, you have it wrong my friend!
I love the way you cleaned the 1951 Studebaker and included your family and pets! I can't wait to see the end results of this iconic vehicle!
Great shots of the "Stude" driving along the countryside!
Thank you
I'm with Mom, keeper! I'm 71 too; I can relate. 💗
She loves to keep it
Love the Studebaker. My grandma had one when I was a kid...in the 60s
Ok thank you
Awesome video brings me joy to see them every time! God bless you and your family including Rocky..lol
Thank you
Hi my name is Robert Butcher I m in Texas. Love you people so cool. Please continue. Thanks.🏵🌈🏁🌄
Thank you
Enjoyed watching your family work together cleaning up the old Car! It’s 4 years older than me😉🎈😎
Thank you I’m glad you liked it
Good to see another video. I know you and your family will be fine. You are in our prayers and would love to see you succeed. just keep the videos coming"GOD BLESS"
Thank you Joe
Your family is wonderful : A couple of points: 1) if you clean off the rusty chrome, you should immediately use automotive clearcoat over the top of the cleaned steel. Otherwise, you've simply removed another layer of rust protection and the rust will start returning immediately. 2) What brand is your brake drum remover? Keep up the good work :)
Ok good tip thank you
@@Sleeperdude Read my original post. What brand of brake drum puller do you use? It's one of the most easefully functional pullers I've seen, but I couldn't find it in a quick web scan.
1:46 Sanctus! Dominus!
Oh my gosh you guys and gals crack me up!!! Love it 😁😊🎵🎼💎💙
Thank you
Another great video !
Always love seeing you and the family working on these old cars and keeping a little bit of history alive
Thank you we appreciate it
Always enjoy your positive family videos. And your American values too. Thank you so much for your awesome content. Blessings from Arkansas.
Thank you
1951 was a good year. I was born in December of that year! I love this car, brings back good memories of me as a little girl. My dad taught me all the cars and I would name them as they went past. Dad worked for GM at the Buick plant for 33 years. He loved tinkering with cars.
Oh I love your Aussie! I had one when my girls were little and she was the best dog ever. She would go out to the end of the driveway and wait for the bus to bring the girls home from school.
Thank you
My dad was a WW2 aircraft mechanic I see now why he loved that model he owned one in the middle 60s I do remember it stayed parked more than I got to ride in it he owned another Studebaker it was a different body style.
Yeah that makes sense
This is by far the best video I have watched of you and the family watching y'all share that RC colla brought back memories to me. Yall be blessed. And Jish much success to you in this new chapter of life.
Thank you I appreciate it
Hi from the uk josh and all👋👍 great to see the sb out on road and what a fund in back seat manual in a bag 👌 also I think that tyre machine doin well for the team good investment for you 👍car came up really well and your rite that carpet glossed up great👌 good job everyone👍👌 thanks for your time and be safe see you soon👍👋
Thank you I appreciate it
When I was a wee lad, my parents had one of those Studebakers. The wing windows are ok, but you have a couple of vents that will blow a blast of air in the car. Those doors on the front fenders are vent doors. I think the lever for them is by the left and right panels in front under the dash. I thought they had a vent on the inside by the feet but you seem to have something else there so not sure where the wind comes from. But you get going down the road, that blast of air is better than air con...
It's not luck, Josh. It's your attention to detail---at least on the mechanical details, leaving fire extinguishers and tools doesn't count! LOL! But seriously, it's the way you prep stuff so well before you get to the point of going out on the road.
I haven't commented yet but have watched a huge number of your vids, and just absolutely LOVE the way your kids and critters are so involved in them. Rocky's a hoot, and the way y'all put up with his antics shows just what kind of people you are! Salute to the whole Sleeperdude crew!
Bill
Thanks Bill
Great video, Josh. Nice to see your family participate with the car projects. Ralphie looks just like our oldest grandson who will be 10 the end of August.
That’s awesome thank you
Nice to see the family getting involved and been binge watching your videos. Looking forward for more🔥
That’s awesome thank you
She a keeper she sounds amazing that deep roar she has nice video superdude family
Bought one of these off a friend for $15 when I was a kid. Used to drive it through the woods plowing down trees until it got irremovably stuck up to it's running boards. And just left it there.
Wow what a story
Another great video Josh, love the content and absolutely love the relationship you have with your family ❤️ great to se them all getting involved with what you do, really looking forward to the next video my friend 👍
Thank you I am blessed
Absolutely love This CHANNEL always great time lovely family God Bless 💟💟💟💟😁
Thank you I appreciate it
Keeper. If overdrive isn't working, I noticed last time da relay doesn't have a fuse in it. However you can rig an off an on switch for O/D solenoid fused wire to switch and wire run to one of posts on the solenoid. Push da T handle in and when you're bout 30-40mph flip switch on and let off da gas and it will click in then push da gas and you'll have a 4th gear. Real nice on da hwy. Can run 65-75mph no problem. Engine is 232ci and has good low torque. Very economical. I be smiling and grinnin da whole video. Had Studes in my family since 1960. Worked in a Studebaker restoration shop when I lived in Florida. Really hope you will keep it. Very dependable, engine is bullet proof. I drive a 61 1/2 ton pickup daily. I't newest vehicle I own. Wish you continued success, you guys deserve it.
Thank you so much for all the info
You're a good Dad! The world needs more good Dads.
Thank you I hope I’m doing good
