Thanks for covering the canal in Newport, i stopped there when passing a few years back - saw the narrowed bit at the bridge and thought ‘what the heck’. Good to see the rest of it. 😊

Well, for little notes or prep Steve, you still got to cram a good deal in here; many thanks. Have been following a bit of the Wappenshall basin works (what a fantastic job that has been.!), but this section was new for me👍😀. Wildlife was a lovely bonus too.!

Interesting video. I wish there was the will to restore the canal. It just doesn’t seem to be going anywhere partly I think to a few influential folk in town who have no desire to see it reopened. I think it would do an amazing job with tourism and bringing trade to the town and also along the way.

I’ve met a few volunteers for the trust and they seem keen, as with all these things though you need the landowners and the council on your side, with the council on your side things become much easier
