  • The 2017 Honda odyssey VCM is now deactivated! The VCM tuner installed with simple tools. There are many different options if you are looking into disabling your VCM. I purchased my tuner at VCMTUNER.com for $134.95. If your vehicle is acting up something to look into. The rings issue is what I have read over the net and has led me to the tuner. Many forums I have read say rings need be replaced, but its all trial and error, and that's what I'm dealing with.

    I’m a 77 yoa person backyard mechanic. I installed the VCM Tuner II on my 2021 Pilot Elite at about 1000 miles since new. It was very easy to install and has worked perfectly as advertised as verified by my Blue Driver OBD II tester. I’m convinced it will save my spark plugs, piston rings, torque converter, and electronic engine mounts. I can’t say enough good about VCM Tuner II. Best $130 I ever spent. Great video. Thanks so much. If you want your engine to last, change oil & filter every 5000 miles!

    I installed on a 2013 Odyssey two years ago and 50,000 miles later. Still operating great. Smoothest running engine I’ve ever owned. No oil consumption between 5000 mile changes. I did run a couple bottles of Chevron Techron through it to help clean some combustion chamber carbon.

    What makes this an excellent instructional video is the attention to detail. If you've never taken all the plastics out of an engine compartment, you could spend all day figuring it out. Now, it should only take a few minutes because we've been shown. Even down to taping up the positive battery terminal. Priceless. You'll understand if you burn out your car's computer and have to buy a new one. I've got a question in to VCM Tuner but I think you've answered my question in the description. For their VCM II tuners, they specifically mention the Honda Acura. Does that mean the original VCM tuner is for most I-VTEC Honda engines and the VCM II is only for the Acura? I've got a 2007 Honda Odyssey with 85K miles and inquiring minds want to know.

    We bought a new 2014 Odyssey. I had heard about possible problems with the VCM system, so soon I bought a VCMuzzler from a Canadian source, which I assume was the original developer. It was the simplest install possible, being simply a section of wire with a resistor in it to fool the computer into sensing that the engine had not reached operating temperature, which disallowed the VCM to operate. It was simply a matter of unplugging the coolant temperature sensor wire and inserting the pigtail containing the resistor between the sensor and the wire to the computer.
    I have a Scan Gauge, which shows real-time coolant temperature, which was 180+ degrees, as new, and now is normally 159 degrees. We were in Illinois when I installed the Muzzler and drove home to California. My fuel consumption for the 2400 mile trip was 25.4 mpg. The eastward trip, over the same route without the Muzzler had been 25.4 mpg. The VCMuzzler has been in place for ten years, with NO downsides. Best modification I have ever done to a vehicle!

    Thanks for the video as well. As mentioned in my comment in the spark plug video for the Odyssey, I kept this video playing on my phone as I worked on the rear three spark plugs on a 2011 model. Super informative for me. I'm shopping around for the VCM tuner/muzzler. So far Check Engine light and the Slippery When Wet looking light hs cleared out. I'm considering swapping the front set as well. Hoping they're not it bad shape.

      Glad video helped out! Hopefully a muzzler will help you out on your vehicle. My 3 plugs forward were still good so I did not replace them. Let me know when you have purchased a muzzler and how its working for you!

    I just installed a vcm tunner into my Odyseey today. It was a very quicka nd easy installation and no more econ light or vcm. Hopefully, I will no longer burn oil or foul a plug.

      Did you get the VCM tuner or the VCM II tuner? I'm about to buy one for my 2007 Odyssey but their webpage seems to specifically mention the Honda Acura for the VCM II tuners. They also cost $ 50 more. Is an Acura that different?

    Hello... Question for you Sir. Why the temp gauge doesn't give any reading? It always shows cold. If the vcm2 unit send temp info to the ECU, why the temp gauge doesn't show it.? Thank you for your time

    Hello, just ran into your video which by the way it’s great. I have a 2008 Odyssey that after putting in a new set of gaskets on the front oil pressure switch the VCM started acting up ( before never had any issues) now out of no where cylinder #4 seems to be misfiring and it’s not the coil or spark plug! I am guessing it’s loosing compression. Do you think the rings on that cylinder might’ve messed up some how?

  • @henrylee2964
    @henrylee2964 2 года назад +3

    You will notice more power because all cylinders are firing now like a normal engine; also oil consumption will stop but you gas mileage on cruise will drop from 27 - 23 mpg on highway driving.
    In essence you are sacrificing gas mileage to extend the life of your engine. With the VCM bypassed , you get more life out of your front engine mount because now the engine is running balanced instead of running on 3 cylinders/

    18:57 I always look behind my back and check blind spots. Back-up cameras are nice, but it costs nothing to use eyes. Miss with those 'assists', all they do is increase the cost of repair when I gotta go replace those sensors and have them recalibrated as well.

    At 100K miles do a compression check to make sure the compression is even on all 6 cylinders about 195-205 PSI. Change the oil filter and synthetic oil every 4K miles. Use oem oil filter dont use auto zone to protect your engine. MY 2005 odyssey has the same oil burning issues at 124K miles. It was too late for me. Because of VCM, I discovered cylinder #2 had 185 psi but the other 5 cylinders had from 195-205 PSI. I have the muzzler and it works. I got lot more power but i burn still burn about 1 qt / 400 miles probably because of #2 cylinder. Another issue coming your way is the transmission. Change the fluid every 20K miles with only Honda transmission fluid. Never drive the vehicle down hill in neutral, this will destroy the transmission when you put it back into drive at the bottom of the hill.

    • @junktodriven6535

      I will check compression at around 100,000 miles which may come quickly due to the van is a traveling van for our kids and out of town/state tournaments. I have also replaced trans fluid at 55 ,000. Maybe its time to check trans fluid again.

    • @yodead369
      @yodead369 2 года назад

      Yeah I used to drive my automatic cars like that, coasting down the hills and neutral on the back roads! Probably how I f***** up the transmission on my first car! Oops. That was post adulthood! Lmao

      Amsoil 0w-20 works just as good if not better then honda mineral oil shelf fluids.

    • @henrylee2964
      @henrylee2964 Год назад

      @@jasonfrance4927 Bro: I just learned another trick, install a small transmission fluid cooler in front of your main radiator because the transmission well below the water radiator is inadequate to cool down the transmission fluid circulating from the transmission. this will extend the life of your transmission. Also fact never ever use 87 octane gas, you must use at least 91 octane fuel on the minvan otherwise your van will die suddenly while drying on the street.

    It doesn't tune it and it's cheap as snit to make. Take 34 Ohm to 84 Ohm and your engine never knows it's warmed up. VCM won't activate. $25 value.

  • @johnpavon799
    @johnpavon799 9 месяцев назад

    Honda should have installed a compression release on the 3 cylinders that the VCM manages that way it will not push the oil out! I have 92k miles and it pushed 1 quart every two weeks!

      Just received mine. Red goes to the positive terminal on your battery. The green and blue just hang out of the way during normal operation, but the green I believe is used to re-engage the VCM feature for the vehicle when it’s connected to a ground point. Not sure what blue is for yet.
